After winning her first Oscar for her performance in Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story, Laura Dern is reuniting with the filmmaker for a new Netflix film. The details of the film are scarce. However, the logline of the film suggests that it is “a funny and emotional coming-of-age film about adults.”
The filmmaker’s credits include the aforementioned Marriage Story, The Meyerowitz Stories, and the Don DeLillo adaptation White Noise. The first two films were critically acclaimed, although White Noise‘s reception was more mixed. Baumbach is also on the radar for Best Adapted Screenplay at this weekend’s Academy Awards for co-writing the script to “Barbie” with his partner, Greta Gerwig. Interestingly, Baumbach will once again show his writing skills with this upcoming project. He will co-and write the film with actor/filmmaker Emily Mortimer. Additionally, he will produce it alongside Amy Pascal and David Heyman.
The upcoming film has Laura Dern, who made her feature debut alongside her mother in White Lightning. She gained recognition for her performance as Dr. Ellie Sattler in the “Jurassic Park” movies. She is also the recipient of great honors like the Oscars. Laura Dern received her Academy Award trophy for her portrayal of a divorce attorney in Marriage Story. She has also been nominated twice for Oscars for films like “Rambling Rose” and “Wild.” Her other credits include the HBO series Enlightened and Big Little Lies. Throughout her acting career, she has proven her versatility and incredible acting skills and has been a frequent collaborator of renowned filmmakers from the industry like David Lynch’s Twin Peaks: The Return.
Dern will soon be seen in the upcoming Apple period comedy miniseries Palm Royale.
Talking about her untitled Netflix project, the actress will be joined by Riley Keough, Billy Crudup, George Clooney, and Adam Sandler. Noah Baumbach’s as-yet-untitled new Netflix film has not been assigned a release date.
