The Bateman brothers, Quinanthony and Lee Bateman have come up with one of the most bizarre action thrillers in recent times. Their latest feature, “Chasing Raine,” revolves around the kidnapping of Raine by her own father. The most frustrating aspect of the film is its tendency to become so messy at times that you feel compelled to skip to the climax to discern who dies and who stays alive. The cast, Maurice P. Kerry, Krystal Jordan, and DJ Walton, are so confused with their characters that the lack of chemistry between them is very much evident. All in all, this film lacks quality in almost every aspect as a thriller, so if you want to see it, it’s your call only.

Chasing Raine (2024) Plot Summary and Movie Synopsis:

The film starts with a tragic event where Clyde Foxx, a marine by profession, is waiting for orders with his sniper rifle. He witnesses a man killing some other men ruthlessly and asks his superiors for shooting orders. Since there is no order apart from waiting and witnessing the killings, Clyde allows himself to follow his heart, and he kills the guy with the gun.

Right after that we see Clyde losing his custody over his daughter Raine as his wife Sky wins the case. Clyde’s career is filled with anger issues, drinking, violence, and everything that will easily lose him in these kinds of cases. Sky now lives with Niko, as she has completely separated herself from Clyde’s toxicity. Clyde goes to AA meetings where he shares his will to get Raine back from her mother.

Why does Clyde Kidnap Raine?

Since Sky has full custody of Raine, Niko comes up with the plan that they should move to Utah because they will earn more, and it will be better for Raine as well. Sky is against this decision as she wants Raine to grow in a stable atmosphere and does not want to distance Raine from her father. However, thinking about the money needs, Sky decides to give it a try, calling Clyde to collect some documents and drop them over.

Knowing that Sky is moving to a different city with Raine, Clyde thinks that Sky is deliberately trying to take her away from him. Sky also shares this plan with one of her business associates, Caesar, who also wants Sky to stay. Sky is an expert with guns, and she is teaching Caesar how to shoot while she is in the gun business herself. Anyway, one day, Sky leaves for a gun deal, and Joi, the babysitter, stays in the house to keep an eye on Raine.

Raine secretly calls Clyde and shares her wish to meet with her father because she has not seen him in a long time. Soon after, Clyde knocks on the door, and Joi says he can not enter the house without Sky’s permission. Clyde breaks into the house anyway and then kills Joi so that she can’t create a scene while he leaves the house with Raine. Raine does not know anything about Joi’s death as she is busy playing games on her mobile. Clyde puts Joi’s body in the back of the car and leaves.

Sky calls a couple of times, but neither Raine nor Joi are picking up their phones, so she decides to come back to her house. She finds blood all over the wall, and Raine is missing. She calls Caesar about the situation and tracks Raine’s tracking device. In the meantime, Clyde drops the tracking device inside a random house where an old couple lives. Sky enters their house, ties their hands, and realizes that Raine is not here; it is only her tracking device.

Clyde calls his sister to take care of Raine while he takes care of the mess he has created already. Clyde follows Sky’s movements and when she enters into the old couple’s house, Clyde enters into the car and asks Niko to drive far away from there. Later, Caesar goes to confront Clyde’s sister, and only then she realizes that her brother has kidnapped his own daughter. Anyway, later, when Caesar is about to get hold of Raine as Clyde’s sister says she is eating outside, they find that Raine is not there.

One of the employees of the restaurant says that Raine has been taken away by an Asian guy. Later, we see that Raine is originally kidnapped by a bad person. Clyde kills Niko and comes to get Raine while Caesar gives all the details to Sky. Clyde’s sister tells Caesar that her other phone is in Raine’s bag and they can track the phone’s location to get to her. Sky comes running as she prepares herself to confront these men in order to save Raine.

Chasing Raine (2024) Movie Ending Explained:

Is Sky able to save Raine?

Sky attacks one of the goons and realizes that this place is the organization of a secret prostitution racket, and the bidders have come to buy Raine. Clyde has arrived at the spot as well, and together, they come close to saving Raine from the clutches of these racketeers. Raine is sold at a huge price to a certain old person, and she is now kept inside a room as Clyde finds her. Later, while Clyde confronts Caesar, the Asian guy intervenes and threatens to kill Raine if they make any move.

However, Sky comes in out of nowhere, and accidentally, the Asian guy shoots at her. Later, Caesar kills the Asian guy, but sadly, it is too late for Sky already. Sky dies as Caesar lets Clyde walk away with his daughter because he remembers that all Clyde ever wanted was to be with his daughter, and when Clyde decided to move away, it forced him to kidnap her daughter. There was no chance Clyde could have known that things would go this far.

At the end of the film, we see Clyde is confronted by a lot of men who try to stop him from getting away with Raine. Caesar had always cared for Sky as his sister, and now, when Clyde is faced with obstacles, he intervenes and helps Clyde win the battle against the racketeers. Raine departs with Clyde in a very expensive car as the news of a secret prostitute racket is exposed in the local channels. Sky’s sacrifice helps Raine escape from the situation and it may even help Clyde to become a better person in order to give Raine the life she deserves best.
