“Ferry 2” is a 2024 crime drama directed by Wannes Destoop, featuring an ensemble cast led by Frank Lammers as Ferry Bouman, Aiko Beemsterboer as Jezebel van Kamp, Monic Hendrickx as Claudia Zwart-Bouman, Huub Smit as Dennis, Huub Stapel as Brink. The film follows Ferry Bouman who after spending three years in prison tries to carve a normal life only to be pulled back when his niece comes knocking on his door.

The film opens in Costa Blanca, with the lead, Ferry Bouman, reflecting on the life he has lived and the things he’s lost along the way. Ferry was once a ruthless drug lord who would stop at nothing to expand his empire whether it meant bribing the police or eliminating his rivals. He controlled the Costa Blanca streets, ensuring only high-quality drugs were in circulation.  Over time, his power and wealth grew, making him rich. Despite trying to take care of his crew, Ferry ended up losing everyone close to him. Even his wife left him, vowing never to see him again. Yet, Ferry managed to keep his business afloat, even as his personal life fell apart.

Ferry’s biggest betrayal came when one of his own men, in exchange for immunity, agreed to testify against him. This landed Ferry behind bars for a long time. When Ferry was just a kid, his mother had borrowed money to cover some basic necessities, but when she couldn’t repay it, the lender threatened her with a gun. Ferry was terrified that night, but he made a promise to himself that no Bouman after him would have to go through that kind of fear or helplessness. That promise drove him into the world of crime.

Ferry 2 (2024) Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis:

Why Ferry Has to Turn to His Old Ways?

After serving his sentence, Ferry struggles to rebuild his old empire but fails for several reasons. Most of the people he trusted are either dead or gone, and the police have confiscated all his supplies. Adapting to his new reality, Ferry changes his name to Andre and starts living a quiet life in a camper.  Things take an interesting turn when Jezabel, his niece, visits him with her boyfriend, Jeremy, asking for €50,000 in cash. The large amount immediately raises Ferry’s suspicion. After some questioning, Jer admits they lost money on a downpayment for ecstasy and now need €50,000 to set up a new lab and buy PMK, a chemical they need to make drugs.

Ferry initially refuses to help, saying it’s not his problem. However, when Jeremy reveals that if they fail to produce 250,000 pills, Lex, a drug dealer will kill them both. This leaves Ferry with no choice but to help Jezabel.  As Ferry starts digging for information, he learns that Lex is not someone to be trifled with. Lex has a terrifying reputation and there are rumors that he once tortured his own mother while laughing the entire time. Everyone Ferry questions warns him not to cross Lex, who now dominates the drug trade.  To handle the situation, Ferry shows up at Lex’s headquarters and offers to clean up the mess, even promising to deliver the 250,000 more pills. Lex, gives him a one-week deadline to deliver.

How Ferry Decides to Handle the Situation?

Luckily, Ferry still has some of his old drug-making equipment from his heyday, which he once used to produce and distribute drugs across the country. However, the police have confiscated all of Jezabel’s PMK, leaving them no option but to strike a deal with Dennis.  If you don’t remember, Dennis is the one who testified against Ferry and sent him to prison for three years.

Ferry and Dennis plan to hijack a truck carrying barrels of PMK. The robbery doesn’t go smoothly, and Jer takes a bullet in the shoulder but survives the gunfight. With the stolen PMK in hand, they set up a makeshift drug lab in an abandoned boat near the pier to cook the required pills. At first, things seem to be going well—the group is confident they’ll meet their target and make a fortune but one day the boat starts smoking and suddenly explodes before they can meet their 500,000 pills.

How Things Get Out of Ferry’s Control?

After tracking Dennis, Ferry finds that Lex is planning a rip-deal. In simple terms, Lex intends to supply his clients with half a million pills and, in exchange for their payment, have them take out Ferry Bouman. Even though Ferry had stepped away from the drug world, Lex couldn’t risk him resurfacing as a competitor, knowing how dangerous Ferry could be. However, Ferry, always one step ahead, makes his own arrangement with the hired assassin, Xia. He offers her $100,000 to eliminate Lex instead but after the lab burns down, Lex becomes even more enraged and gives Ferry’s group just one day to complete the delivery or he’ll murder Jeremy.

With no other options, Ferry, Jaz, and Jeremy break into the police warehouse to produce 100,000 ecstasy pills. During the process, Jaz stabs Dennis with a screwdriver because he has betrayed them. However, Dennis plays a recorded call between him and Ferry, revealing that it was Ferry who ordered his men to kill Jurgen, Jaz’s father because he had been acting as an informant for the police.  Ferry contacts Xia, the assassin, and asks her to eliminate Lex but Lex realizes she’s a double-crosser and kills her instead.

Ferry 2 (2024) Movie Ending Explained:

What Happens to Ferry, Jeremy, and Jezabel?

Ferry realizes he must act fast to save everyone, including Jeremy and Jezabel. While Jezabel manages to rescue Jer from Lex’s clutches, Ferry returns to his camper and takes on Lex’s men. Despite catching several bullets, Ferry pushes through and manages to shoot Lex.  Unfortunately, Ferry’s wounds are fatal. The film ends with him sitting on a park bench, taking his final breath.

The movie also includes a post-credit scene where Jezabel is shown selling drugs to a client, earning a wad of cash. So, will she use the money to carve out a better future for herself and Jeremy, or will she choose a path that her uncle once chose? With Lex out of the picture, there’s a possibility Jezabel could take over his operations and build her own drug empire. Earlier in the film, Jezabel mentioned she wouldn’t stop until she made enough money, suggesting she might follow in the footsteps of Ferry Bouman or Lex.

On the other hand, there’s a chance she’ll walk away from this life entirely. Jezabel could use the money to leave the country in search of a better future, far from the danger of the drug world. After all, this life has cost her dearly, her father, Dennis, and even her uncle Ferry all died because of it. She and Jeremy barely made it out alive. Given everything she has to go through, it’s highly possible Jezabel will leave the life of crime and drugs behind for good.
