In Orb: On Movements of the Earth, episode 14, the story intensifies as Nowak resorts to brutal torture techniques, coercing Badeni into revealing the location of the stone chest. Despite his reluctance to let someone else take over his life’s work, Badeni had meticulously preserved all the documents from previous heretics. Unlike those before him, who steadfastly refused to disclose the chest’s location, Badeni ultimately leads Nowak to it, bringing an end to his and Oczy’s suffering.

Meanwhile, Nowak’s apprentices pay a visit to Jolenta, exposing the true nature of Nowak’s work. Jolenta’s involvement proves advantageous for Antoni, who seizes the opportunity to push for Nowak’s removal from the church.

Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 14 “Tonight’s Sky…” Recap:

The episode opens with Nowak torturing Oczy to get answers from Badeni. Like the thumb screw, Nowak has inserted another instrument inside Oczy’s mouth, which will damage the cheeks. The only answer Nowak wants to know is where the rest of the research documents are. Even though Nowak tortures Oczy, Badeni sticks to his story, saying that the documents are burned.

Furthermore, Badeni tries to trigger Nowak by saying he has a personal grudge against Badeni and Oczy. With this statement, one of Nowak’s apprentices is taken aback. Nothing that Badeni says affects Nowak. Next, Nowak prepares to damage Oczy’s eyes. At this moment, Badeni reveals the location of the stone chest in the mountains. So Nowak thanks Badeni and Oczy for cooperating with him.

When Nowak and Badeni reach the mountains, Nowak reveals to Badeni that Rafal is only 12 years old and is a heretic. Furthermore, Nowak also says that, unlike Rafal, Badeni has conventional thinking because he led Nowak to the stone chest. But Rafal drank poison to keep the location hidden from Nowak and the church. Now, Badeni and Oczy will be executed by the church officials.

In the jail cell, Oczy expresses his surprise as Badeni went against his wishes, stored the previous documents, and tried to protect them. However, Oczy does not understand why Badeni didn’t let Nowak torture Oczy, as they are going to die anyway. Since Badeni knows the pain of an eye injury, Badeni tries to protect Oczy.

What is Badeni’s backup plan to keep the conversation around heliocentrism ongoing?

Before leaving for the execution, Badeni reveals about the previous heretic (Rafal) and his age, taking Oczy by surprise. One more secret is left for Badeni to share: he has a backup plan. This time, Badeni made arrangements to make Oczy’s writing go public. If luck is on their side, Oczy’s journal about the course of the research will be published as Oczy’s writing is not scholarly. However, Badeni will not get the recognition he craved for heliocentrism, but Badeni will be a key figure in history. After getting to know about Rafal, Badeni believes anything is possible. Now, Oczy and Badeni head to the execution site.

There, Oczy asks Badeni what the chances are that Oczy’s book will be published. Badeni says the possibilities are infinite. Hearing this, Oczy is relieved as they will die, leaving the world with hope. When Badeni thinks they are at hell’s entrance, Oczy says that the sky is beautiful, so they must be at heaven’s entrance. At that, Oczy and Badeni are executed.

Meanwhile, Nowak’s two apprentices have a conversation about faith. The first apprentice keeps forgetting what faith is, so the other apprentice explains it is the scriptures, doctrine, and other things. The reason the first apprentice feels lost is because, as inquisitors, they inflict pain on others every day, so the other apprentice reminds him that these people are witches and heretics. Therefore, it is the right thing to do.

Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 14 “Tonight’s Sky…” Ending Explained:

Will Jolenta’s Ordeal Unveil the True Heretic or a Sinister Church Plot?

After the conversation, they visited Jolenta to chat with her. There, the apprentices realize that Jolenta does not know Nowak’s job. The apprentices tell Jolenta that they are inquisitors and inform Jolenta about Badeni and Oczy’s death. Furthermore, they ask Jolenta if she heard anything suspicious from Badeni and Oczy, so Jolenta sticks to the plan given by Badeni to pretend to know nothing.

At this moment, Antoni interrupts the conversation. Outside the door, Antoni asks the apprentices to prepare to torture Jolenta as Antoni believes Jolenta to be the mastermind behind the heretics’ work or the demon that possesses Jolenta to control Badeni and Oczy. The apprentices reluctantly prepare Jolenta. Now, Antoni asks the apprentices to rip out Jolenta’s teeth if she does not reveal the truth. Unfortunately, the apprentices hesitate.

So Antoni pulls out Jolenta’s tooth and asks the apprentices to do the rest. When one of the apprentices goes close to Jolenta, he hesitates, so the two apprentices decide to use a thumb screw instead. The apprentice struggling with faith steps out to fetch the thumb screw. On the way, the apprentice overhears Antoni, talking to a few church members that if they can prove Jolenta to be a heretic, then Nowak will be out of the church.

Can Jolenta’s Escape Spark a New Chapter in the Fight for Heliocentrism?

Sadly, Antoni has a personal vendetta against Nowak as Nowak gets favors from the Bishop. With Jolenta’s involvement, Nowak will be out, and Bishop’s reputation will also fall. Hearing this, the apprentice runs back and asks his colleague to fetch the thumb screw. After that, the apprentice helps Jolenta escape from the inquisitor’s chamber. When Jolenta asks why the apprentice is helping her, the apprentice says to him faith is a way of life.

As expected, Jolenta’s name is connected to Badeni and Oczy, but Nowak’s apprentice helps Jolenta escape. However, this might not work in favor of Nowak as Antoni can accuse Nowak of hiding a heretic at home and is biased with his work. Like the previous heretics, Badeni and Oczy are dead. We will likely see Jolenta’s story if she pursues and publishes heliocentrism. This is possible if Jolenta manages to survive.

Another possibility is that the apprentice grappling with his faith might become a heretic under Jolenta’s mentorship, taking the torch of heliocentrism forward. It will be fascinating to see how Nowak reacts when rumors of Jolenta’s alleged heresy reach his ears. Additionally, we eagerly anticipate answers about Nowak’s intentions for the stone chest.
