In the new Netflix series “The Price Of Confession” (Original title: Jabaekui Daega), director Lee Jung-hyo weaves tension, betrayals, skulduggery, and suspense. It’s a tale of two women whose involvement and friction run the narrative engine. Fault lines run deep and vicious. Stakes rise inexorably, and the conflicts widen and crisscross. Its leads, Yun Su and Mo Eun, are drawn into a dangerous vortex, a dance between venomous affiliations and rosy tenderness. Perspectives on the situation flip between brittle ends. One realises the fallout much too late, just as the rising beats begin. Many implications must be reckoned with in an emotionally charged circling of two women.

The odds of individual triumph are routinely upstaged as the women find ways of exerting themselves. Both have different battles to wage, and are strangely enmeshed. Even as one promises the other a way out, the situation deepens. Neither can be wholly extricated from its circumstances without mutual consideration. It helps the actresses develop incredible chemistry, which sells every shade of emotion in a fraught endeavour.

The Price of Confession (TV Series 2025) Recap:

The show opens with a wedding. The year is 2017. Ki-Dae and Yun-su’s marriage is depicted. A baby girl, Sop, is born to them. The show jumps to 2022 with the stabbing of Ki-dae. Detective Ryu questions Yun-su, who’s an art instructor. The day he died, she had seen someone stepping out of her husband’s studio in a hoodie. There had also been a student, Oh Seo-won, at the studio. But Yun-su also has bruises that incur the detective’s intrigue. Can she be hiding something?

A prosecutor, Baek Dong-hun, tries to scour through the evidence around Ki-dae’s stabbing. He lets Yun-su go, but she’s kept on watch. It turns out Oh Seo-won was having an affair with Ki-dae. Dong-hun gives the forensics team the carving knives at the studio. Yun-su insists she had no clue about her husband’s affair. The student’s alibi checks out. We also get fragments of the woman killing her husband. Dong-hun grows convinced of Yun-su’s culpability. He unearths records from her childhood of her pushing a friend down the stairs at 12. Yun-su is sent away to prison. Her statements are dismissed, her plea for innocence.

What are the terms of Mo Eun’s help?

There have been private videos of the woman threatening to kill her husband. In a flashback, we see that Yun-su is actually innocent. Tucked away is Mo-eun, who delights in Yun-su’s insistence on her innocence. Yun-su’s lawyer urges her to accept the claim of culpability so that a reduced sentence is doled out. A video of her re-enacting the crime is played at the trial. Yun-su violates her lawyer’s wishes and is sentenced to a life sentence.

The detectives arrest Mo Eun. She reiterates that she was a dental assistant to the couple. Mo Eun is overwhelmed while holding forth on the murder. Yun-su grapples with the imminent situation of her daughter being adopted by another family. In knots, Yun-su is admitted into an infirmary for bashing her head. The doctor insists she hold on for her daughter’s sake. A scuffle breaks out in Mo Eun’s cell. She scares her cellmates, hence put away in a solitary state. She just wanted a cell next to Yun-su, even promising her help. She will confess to Ki-dae’s murder if Yun-su can also be of aid.

When Mo Eun is taken to her trial, she confesses to a different murder, that of Ki-dae. This shocks all since it came out of nowhere. But Yun-su has severe doubts. Is it really Mo Eun who killed her husband? Something doesn’t fit. Dong-hun reiterates Mo Eun, proclaiming no motive for the killing, which is unusual. He struggles to buy her claims. On Mo Eun’s insistence, Yun-su contacts a particular lawyer to arrange bail. Mo Eun’s answers seem true when a polygraph is presented. However, she laughs off when the question of motive is dredged up again. The test proves futile since the purpose is negated.

Does Yun-su’s bail free her entirely?

The lawyer, Jeong-gu, fabricates a media image of Yun-su as a mother wronged. She gets bail. Yun-su has to kill a person. That was the exchange with Mo Eun. The show moves at a rather laboured pace, with information and backstories dispensed with in a much too wary manner. Emotional buildup isn’t much guaranteed. Dong-hun’s reputation is tainted, but his boss assuages him to keep probing the case. They aren’t in agreement with the court giving bail to Yun-su. They sense something fishy is going on.

Yun-su discovers a swell of support when she lands home. Bae Sun-deok imposes certain strict stipulations that Yun-su must adhere to within specific hours; she cannot afford to go truant. Dong-hun meets Yun-su, suggesting she’s not fully off the hook, as the illusion is. Yun-su increasingly feels she’s being monitored and followed. She tries to track down the person in the hoodie who had been of suspicious interest. The cops are alerted. The series chafes at the moral boundaries the women have.

Complicity and innocence go for a blind toss as cops try to exert and pin down exact blame. Baek-dong suspects the women are fooling him. They might be far ahead of his estimates. Yun-su and Mo Eun seek and scramble to wipe out evidence. They scurry to hide the degree of their involvement and implications. Mou Eun uncovers potential evidence that can sully Yun-su’s records. Mo Eun suffers a medical fright, and a prison break happens.

The Price of Confession (TV Series 2025) Ending Explained:

Who killed Yun-su’s husband?

The web of accusations and suspected motives keeps widening. In a confrontation involving Jeong-gu, Baek, and Mo Eun, critical details surface. The truth flashes itself in slow, steady succession. Choi Su-yeon, the wife of lawyer Young-in, turns out to be the real killer lurking in the shadows. When a fight over an artwork steeply rises, the murderer is unmasked. Ki-dae had refused to entertain Young-in and his wife. There’s no more hiding. Young-in has attempted to eliminate Se-hun before, but it didn’t go as planned. Mo Eun also took revenge on Se-hun for raping her sister, which led to her suicide. Se-hun got away with a light sentence. Mo Eun took it on herself to deliver the appropriate punishment.

Mo Eun comes to terms with the fact that Yun-su doesn’t have it in her to kill. Both women head straight into Young-in’s trap. The scuffle leaves both Young-in and Mo Eun fatally injured. Yun-su is cleared of Ki-dae’s murder. The ending sends Yun-su and her daughter to Thailand. Hopefully they’ll be safe, far from trouble. We also learn that Mo Eun and her sister were present at Yun-su’s end back in the past. Mo Eun has a tragic fate, but Yun-su manages to get away. It’s a bittersweet ending with the latter fully realising the true measure of Mo Eun’s sacrifice.
