If you have watched Virgin River on Netflix, the scenery probably stayed with you. The forests look endless. Rivers run through deep green valleys. The town itself feels calm and welcoming, like a place where life moves a little slower.

The story is set in Northern California, but the show is actually filmed almost entirely in British Columbia, Canada. The region’s forests, mountain landscapes and historic towns make it a perfect stand in. Many of the places you see on screen are real locations that fans can visit.

The exterior of Jack’s Bar is actually the Watershed Grill in Brackendale, just north of Squamish. The restaurant sits beside the Squamish River and offers wide views of the surrounding mountains.

Fans often visit the location because the exterior looks almost exactly the same as it does in the show. The deck and the river backdrop appear frequently in the series.

The interior scenes of Jack’s Bar are filmed on a studio set in Vancouver, so the inside of the real restaurant looks different from what viewers see on screen.

2. Murdo Frazer Park, North Vancouver

Mel’s cabin is one of the most recognizable locations in the show. The house is the caretaker’s cottage in Murdo Frazer Park in North Vancouver.

Visitors can walk the park’s trails and see the cabin from outside, although the house itself is still used by the park caretaker and is not open to the public.

Fort Langley provides much of the small town atmosphere used throughout the series. The village sits about 45 minutes from Vancouver and is known for its historic buildings and quiet streets.

4. Snug Cove, Bowen Island

Some of the early scenes in the first episode were filmed at Snug Cove on Bowen Island.

The house was built in 1889 and sits in the Queen’s Park neighborhood of New Westminster. It features classic Victorian architecture with stained glass windows and a large wraparound porch.

Because it is a private residence, visitors can only see the home from outside.

6. Shannon Falls Provincial Park

Many of the waterfall shots seen in Virgin River come from Shannon Falls Provincial Park.
