After the super hit debut of Deadloch in 2023, the Australian series is back with season 2, which is bigger, louder, and even more confident in what it is trying to do. Created by Kate McCartney and Kate McLennan, the show continues with its eccentric mixture of dark comedy and crime, while also pushing its characters into a new setting filled with more chaos. The story once again finds Dulcie Collins and Eddie Redcliffe in the middle of a crime story set in croc country, while trying to hold everything together despite being completely polar opposite to one another. The season begins with a strange tone that initially did not sit well with me, but then the writing gets sharper and funnier, with, of course, plenty of messy moments and incredibly strong language that I honestly looked forward to. Like the previous season, this time too the show touches on serious issues like power, corruption, and identity without losing its humour and mayhem. However, I did feel that at times it was getting a bit crowded, but it never loses its energy.
In this article, I will break down the thriller series streaming on Prime Video. Please note there are major spoilers throughout, so it is best to watch Deadloch (Season 2) before if you want to avoid any surprises.
Deadloch (Season 2) Episode 1 ‘Croc Justice’ Recap:
Did Frank really kill Don?
Episode 1 begins with a crocodile tour led by Amber Darrell, who is excited to show tourists a massive croc named Goliath. However, things quickly turn tense when a rival tour group called Land of Crocs, led by Jason Wade, shows up, and both sides almost crash into each other. The situation changes when Amber spots a dead crocodile in the water with something in its mouth. At the same time, Dulcie and Eddie return to the police station to investigate Detective Bushman’s death, but the Superintendent says it has already been ruled a suicide. The bullet matches his own gun, and there is even a signed note, but Eddie refuses to believe it. She struggles to accept this and throws herself into work, while Dulcie is called to Barra Creek to assist at a case linked to the crocodile discovery. They arrive at the scene, and it is revealed that Eddie has a past in Barra Creek, where she once struggled with alcohol.
There is clear tension between her and Amber. Detective Blunt soon arrives and quickly claims that a severed arm found inside the crocodile belongs to a missing Swedish backpacker. Dulcie is not convinced, especially since the location does not match where the backpackers were last seen. After looking at crime scene photos, Dulcie and Eddie realize that the arm was cut cleanly, which suggests murder. As they continue investigating, Dulcie identifies a missing man named Lloyd Reynolds, who is actually Frank McAllister, a recently released prisoner. Later, Dulcie finds Eddie at a bar where tensions rise between rival groups. It is revealed that Frank is Eddie’s father. Before anything can happen, Detective Blunt arrives to arrest him. As the group flees toward the dock, they discover a severed head in the water, which belongs to Don Darrell.
Deadloch (Season 2) Episode 2 ‘None Of Your Business’ Recap:
Why was Amber at Don’s place?

The episode picks up right after Eddie and Dulcie are searching for the rest of Don Darrell’s body after finding his head in the water, but they are not able to find much. Eddie even takes a moment to sing for her missing crocodile, Triple Pet, though Frank later tells her that the dead croc is not the same one. The next morning, Dulcie explains that there is no proper team assigned to this case because everyone is working on the Swedish backpacker investigation, so it is just the two of them along with Cath. At the station, they meet Sergeant Luke Ferguson, who has an injured foot, though it is unclear if that matters. The autopsy report says the body parts were cut with a knife, but it does not confirm the cause or time of death.
They visit the Darrell family, where things quickly turn tense, but they learn that Don was last seen at the pub on his birthday night. At the pub, Dulcie notices signs of a fight and learns that Troy was behind the graffiti. They also discover that there has been confusion between the crocodiles, as Triple Pet is alive while King is the one in the river. Later, they search Don’s place and find Amber’s bracelet, which suggests she was there looking for money that Jason Wade had given Don. Another body part is found in the river, and Eddie, along with park ranger Miki, recovers a foot. A missing toe is later linked back to Don, though it is accidentally eaten by a sniffer dog. That night, Eddie checks drone footage and realizes the killer was wearing a croc costume. The episode ends with Eddie trapped in a freezer full of dead crocs while Dulcie comes face to face with King.
Deadloch (Season 2) Episode 3 ‘The Boys’ Recap:
Is Frank being framed for Don’s murder?
The episode opens with Roisin, a worker from Land of Crocs, arriving just in time to save Dulcie from King. Dulcie manages to get back to the camper, but she is clearly shaken after the encounter. The next morning, Lynn finds Eddie locked inside a freezer full of dead crocodiles, and it turns out the security cameras are not working, so no one knows who did it. Back at the station, Dulcie, Eddie, Leo, and Abby go over the case and focus on the person wearing the croc costume, known as Chomp. Jason Wade seems to have a solid alibi, but Leo suggests that several employees take turns wearing the costume, which makes things harder since there are many suspects. Abby studies the severed foot and believes it was cut with a motorised blade.
Another body part is later found in a different part of the river, which raises questions about how it got there. Abby also finds oil in the water, which suggests the boat used may have engine trouble. Leo identifies three workers who cannot be accounted for, including Steven Houlihan, also known as Spud, but Dulcie does not think he fits the costume. They also learn that Don was in a land dispute with the Dungalaba Corporation over a piece of land. Later, they question Al, another worker, who says Don was alive when he last saw him. That night, Dulcie finds out Eddie had previously reported her father Frank for illegal activities. Soon after, they search Frank’s place and find a chainsaw, which makes him look guilty. At the same time, Dulcie discovers a pistol linked to Bushman, raising doubts about his supposed suicide.
Deadloch (Season 2) Episode 4 ‘Ladies Day Night Day Night’ Recap:
Did Eddie have a role in Bushman’s death?
Eddie and Dulcie take Frank in for questioning, but on the way, he suddenly admits to killing Don. Before they can go further, they are called back to headquarters, where the media has already started blaming Jason Wade for the murder. Commissioner Cotton is under pressure because Don’s family keeps speaking to journalists, especially Leo, and he wants results quickly. At the same time, Detective Blunt’s team has found backpacks linked to the missing Swedish tourists, and if Eddie and Dulcie do not make progress, the case will be taken away from them. They try to find a motive for Frank and return to the pub to retrace his movements. Flora says Frank left on his scooter at 11.15 pm, but the timeline does not match the events at the donga. His scooter could not have covered that distance, so they suspect he may have used a boat.
They later find his boat and chewing gum wrappers in the forest, which suggest he was nearby, but they get lost while searching the area and are later picked up. Back in town, Dulcie learns about missing items from River Creek Mine, which match a car they found earlier. Eddie then realizes Frank’s boat never moved, meaning someone else gave him a ride. Leo shares a message Don left about strange lights and the NUA group. Eddie questions Roger and learns that Miki was at the donga that night and gave Frank a lift. When confronted, Miki explains she was there to move the donga, not to help with a murder. Abby later confirms Don was poisoned through his birthday cake. Meanwhile, Dulcie finds bullet evidence in the forest and discovers the abandoned car belongs to Eddie, raising serious doubts about Bushman’s death.
Deadloch (Season 2) Episode 5 ‘Amigos Para Siempre’ Recap:
Is Jason Wade hiding something bigger?

The episode begins with Dulcie being questioned about Eddie’s behavior during the case. There have been several complaints about Eddie, and her past actions are now being looked into as well. She has been caught drunk multiple times before Bushman’s death, and she was even stopped for drink-driving on the same night. The officers questioning Dulcie try to twist her words and suggest that Eddie hid the car details on purpose to avoid being blamed. At the same time, Eddie and Abby are trying to find out who poisoned Don. They go to a diner and question Mary and Lynn, but nothing points to them being involved. When Dulcie meets Eddie, she shares her belief that Don was killed to stop him from revealing something about the missing backpackers. Before they can continue, Eddie is called in for questioning. Their growing tension leads to a serious argument, and they decide to go their separate ways.
Meanwhile, new details come up about Bushman’s last movements. CCTV footage shows him leaving in his vehicle, with Eddie following behind, which raises more questions. Eddie later learns that Miki has several dead crocodiles stored in her freezer, but it does not seem to be connected to Frank. Talking to Frank, Eddie finds out that he moved a dead crocodile to Don’s place because he suspected Don. Dulcie continues her investigation and follows a lead about someone named Lisa. She travels to a farm but ends up stranded without her phone. Elsewhere, Leo and Abby find the missing backpackers alive, which changes everything. They learn about a company called LISA that may be involved in illegal crocodile hunting. The episode ends when Eddie calls a number linked to this and Jason Wade answers.
Deadloch (Season 2) Episode 6 ‘Curlew’s Call’ Recap:
The finale episode of Deadloch (Season 2) begins with Dulcie being handed a rifle and coming face to face with Roisin, who admits it is her first shift and she did not know what the operation involved. Roisin quietly takes Dulcie away from Jason Wade and the group as they prepare for a helicopter hunt, and the two escape before being picked up by Abby and Leo on the road. On the way back, Dulcie learns that detectives are searching their campervan and collecting Eddie’s DNA, so they need to find her quickly. Meanwhile, Eddie is at Miki’s place, where Al explains he is involved in Jason’s operation by collecting shot crocs, while Spud uses a drone to locate them. Dulcie later finds Eddie and apologizes, and they finally talk honestly.
Deadloch (Season 2) Ending Explained:
Who actually killed Bushy?
Dulcie shares her theory that Jason had Don killed, and Eddie admits her secret about Bushy’s dog. They also realize Eddie did not follow Bushy that night, but later footage shows she returned, and there was blood at the scene. Abby and Leo discover that Bushy’s killer was a redhead, leading Dulcie to suspect Ferguson, who then runs when confronted. During Don’s funeral, Abby and Leo find his torso and confirm he died after being run over by DJ’s boat. The ending of Deadloch (Season 2) reveals that DJ poisoned and killed Don, while Colleen cut up the body. DJ then shoots himself. Dulcie confronts Ferguson, but the Superintendent kills him, revealing himself as the real mastermind. He confesses everything before taking his own life. The finale shows Dulcie saving Eddie from Jason, who is dragged away by a crocodile. In the end, with the case finally over, Abby and Leo plan to go on a Croatian booze cruise, though Leo is not very excited and says she feels a bit too old for it. Miki and Eddie are now together, while Dulcie decides to leave with Cath and properly step into retirement. Dulcie and Eddie are on good terms again, and they share a warm hug after sorting out their issues. Finally, Dulcie and Cath drive away in their camper and meet a group of storm chasers along the way.
