We are just one episode away from the finale of Euphoria (Season 3), and honestly, good riddance to this atrocious social commentary on American capitalism and the survival instincts of its residents. Euphoria (Season 3) Episode 7 takes a very long time to get to the point, but one thing is certain: Rue is completely f—ed. Her survival instincts are practically nonexistent, and even though she believes God will save her now that she has found faith, she is terribly wrong. The episode continues digging deeper into the messy decision-making of every character, including Nate’s unfortunate fate. As we move closer to the finale, there is barely any empathy left for these characters as they continue struggling to escape the consequences of their own thick-headed choices. From Rue trying to survive dangerous situations involving Laurie, Alamo, and the DEA, to Cassie and Maddy getting dragged into an increasingly terrifying mess connected to Naz and Nate, the episode keeps pushing everyone further into chaos.
In this article, I will break down Euphoria (Season 3) Episode 7, explaining how these characters only bring more havoc into their lives with their messy life choices. Please note that there are major spoilers throughout the article.
Euphoria (Season 3) Episode 7 ‘Rise or Shine’ Recap:
How did Ali recover from drug abuse?
The episode begins with a backstory of how Ali’s life took a drastic turn, leading him to become one of the most integral parts of people like Rue’s life. The episode goes back to a time when Ali was losing himself smoking pot and doing cocaine. He really hit rock bottom until he had to undergo a life-threatening situation that led him to join a support group. Slowly, meeting people and sharing experiences opened his eyes and made him believe in second chances. Ali made sure to put the past behind him and only focus on getting better while trying to do good for others in need. However, there were times when he would fail miserably in saving lives, but he still kept moving ahead. One person after another, he helped people struggling with addiction as Ali sponsored them with an open heart, teaching wise verses from the Bible. While Ali was able to turn his life around with a fresh perspective, he still lingered in his pain now and then.
What does Lexi find out about Rue?
The story then moves ahead, and we see Alamo sending Big Eddy (who is not dead, apparently, as assumed in the previous episode, apologies!) to Laurie’s place. Since the deal with Mexico is on between Alamo and Laurie, DEA agents are also up on their game, secretly tapping the conversations. Meanwhile, we find Rue chilling at Lexi’s place, sharing how her life has gotten better since she started believing in God. Although Lexi doesn’t believe anything Rue says and even judges her when Rue tells her that she has been working with Nazis and the DEA. Lexi accuses Rue of using drugs again, which hurts her, and she leaves the place. However, she finds someone peeking out from Cassie’s place, so she decides to check on her. When she knocks on the door, someone presses a gun against the peephole, but when Rue cannot get through to Cassie, she decides to walk away from the apartment.
Why did Cassie get fired from L.A. Nights?
The episode then takes us back to the time when Cassie got in trouble after she received Nate’s finger as a warning from Naz. After a desperate, failed attempt to recover her OnlyFans account, Naz, along with his assistant, barges into Cassie’s place to extort money from her. However, Cassie has no other way to make money now, especially when the producers of L.A. Nights have backed out from taking a ‘pornstar’ in their production. At the same time, Lexi finally gets a green light from her boss, Patricia, who appreciates her writing in developing the story of the production. On the other hand, Maddy also gets fired because of Cassie, and after learning about the deletion of the OnlyFans account, she is completely fed up with Cassie. So, Maddy goes over to her place and slaps Cassie, threatening her and controlling every decision in Cassie’s life from now on.
How does Maddy control Cassie’s life now?
Maddy then uses her contact at TMZ and tips them off about Cassie’s dinner date with Dylan Reid. Meanwhile, to get Cassie’s online stardom back on track, Maddy trains Cassie to get Dylan drunk and bring him back to her place. Cassie naturally seduces Dylan, takes selfies using his phone, and sleeps with him later in the night. When Dylan leaves the room to get himself water, Cassie unlocks his phone and posts the selfies on his Instagram, which blows up the internet the following day without him knowing about it. During all of this, Dylan almost drinks water with Nate’s finger in the cup without even noticing it. The next day, Maddy comes over to celebrate their success. She finds Nate’s finger in the sink and eventually learns about the situation Cassie is in. Naz has tied up Nate and demands that he get through to Cassie, and the episode traces back to the time when Rue visits Cassie’s place. It turns out that Naz and his assistant were already indoors with Cassie tied up. Naz warns Cassie to get his money back within 72 hours, or else Nate, who is buried alive underground by Naz, will die. Unable to get money from anywhere at this point, Cassie makes a call to Maddy, and this is how Maddy also gets pulled into more trouble in life.
Why doesn’t Ali want Rue to go to Laurie’s?

Later, Rue visits Ali and shares the latest developments in her life, and Ali doesn’t want her to go through with Alamo’s plan. Rue then explains that if she doesn’t abide by Alamo’s plan, then her mother’s life will be in danger, along with her sister’s and even Ali’s, too. She assures him that after this last run, she will move to Texas, giving references from the Bible about her supposed freedom, which she feels is out there. Even though Rue makes a plan with Ali about visiting her mother the next day, she leaves behind a ‘forgive me’ note, going ahead with her original plan of going to Laurie’s place as suggested by Alamo to get his money back. Meanwhile, we also see the DEA agents preparing a team to be able to catch Alamo and Laurie at her place, as planned earlier with Rue. We then see Rue headed to Laurie’s place along with Alamo’s man, G. She slams her face into the dashboard of the car to make it look convincing for Laurie, suggesting that Alamo attacked and tried to kill her, and that is why she came to her.
Is Nate dead?
Back to Cassie’s story, Nate’s brother comes looking for him, but he is nowhere to be found. We see a rattlesnake slowly slithering toward the air hole through which Nate was able to breathe inside the coffin underground on his construction property. Unfortunately, due to Nate’s pure bad luck, the snake attacks him when he starts panicking, thus killing him. On the other hand, after learning about Cassie’s situation and that Naz will harm her next if either of them is not able to deliver the money to him, Maddy takes the case to Alamo, who declares that he wants to steer clear of the Armenians. We also see that Alamo has Maddy wrapped around his fingers and even wants her to join him in his hot tub in an expensive bathing suit. While talking to him, she accidentally reveals too much information about Nazis and the DEA, which makes Alamo become alert. However, Maddy knows there is no one else who can help her, so she manages to convince Alamo, who then agrees to help.
Euphoria (Season 3) Episode 7 ‘Rise or Shine’ Ending Explained:
Why does Alamo kill Naz?
Back at Laurie’s, no one trusts Rue, and the entire crew keeps gaslighting her over her multiple betrayals, even threatening to punish her. They even suggest that when Alamo visits the place, they want Rue to put a bullet in his head, taking her word for it as a way to prove her loyalty. We then see Alamo driving Maddy to meet Naz with a bag of money across Nate’s property. Upon reaching the place, Maddy walks toward Naz with the money, and this is where things become messier. Naz instructs Cassie to bring the money back to him. However, upon checking the bag, he finds out that there is no money inside, and before he can react properly, Alamo shoots right at Naz from a distance. After falling to the ground from the gunshot, Naz instructs something to his man, which leads him to immediately throw down his weapon. Alamo then walks closer and shoots Naz again, killing him.
What will happen to Rue now?
The ending of Euphoria (Season 3) Episode 7 predictably turns things violent. Maddy is shocked but finally finds out that even though Alamo made it look like he was only helping her, it actually comes with a price. Now, Maddy will forever be in debt to Alamo and may have to agree to his terms of business whether she likes it or not. We then see Nate’s coffin finally pulled from the ground and opened, with Nate already dead from the snake bite. Cassie completely breaks down crying, and Maddy stares blankly into the coffin with the rattlesnake still lying on Nate’s poisoned, dead body. On the other hand, Rue wakes up to someone unlocking the door. It turns out to be Faye, who decides to help her after learning that Wayne wishes to kill Rue. She suggests to Rue that they steal the money from Wayne’s locker as discussed before. The two carefully sneak downstairs to where the safe is. However, when Rue struggles to open it using the copy of the key, Faye steals the actual keys and gives them to Rue. After managing to unlock the safe, Rue finds different passports of Alamo’s girls working at his pub, and there is no money like Faye mentioned to her. The final scene of Euphoria (Season 3) Episode 7 ends with Rue completely confused, as Faye freaks out and starts to hyperventilate about how everyone keeps lying to her and using her for their selfish reasons. Since she has been manipulated many times before, Faye screams for Wayne despite Rue’s warning, ending the episode.
What Will Happen in the Euphoria (Season 3) Finale?
We didn’t see Bishop in this episode. Could he be with Rue’s mother as a guarantee until Rue can do Alamo’s assigned job? There was no scene of Jules either. What happened to her? Will Alamo meet Laurie now for the final deal after strongly suspecting that Rue is the metaphorical snake working with the DEA? Since Nate is now dead for good, what will happen to Cassie? Given the fact that her motive to make quick money was to help Nate, will she be able to come out of this deep trauma in her life? Now that Maddy is indebted to Alamo for helping her with the Armenians, how will she make Cassie financially profitable to Alamo despite everything she has been through? Is this the final call for Rue back at Laurie’s, with Wayne finding out that she was trying to steal money from Laurie? What will happen to Faye now? The important question is: who will save Rue now? Is it going to be Ali since, in the beginning of the episode, it was established how determined he was to save people from their darkness?
We will find out where the story leads in the finale episode of Euphoria (Season 3), Episode 8.
