The first trailer of the much anticipated “Ford v Ferrari” is out and it sure looks exciting. Christian Bale and Matt Damon are out for one nasty ride set in the 60s.
Ford v Ferrari is based on the true story of the partnership between Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby. Christian Bale plays the fearless British driver Miles and and Matt Damon is playing the visionary American car designer.
Highly Recommended:
The film follows Shelby and Miles as they are building a revolutionary race car for the Ford Motors. Their agenda is to take on Enzo Ferrari at the Le Mans in France in the year 1966.ย The film’s conflict lies in the battles Shelby and Miles had to fight. Notably, corporate interference, laws of physics and their own personal demons.
The trailer also features Jon Bernthal, who is playing the role of Ford Executive Lee Iacocca. I recommend you to read this book, to know the American hero he was in the automobile industry.ย Lee Iacocca approaches Shelby to ask what exactly would it take if Ford Motor Company wants to build the greatest race car in the world? One that could beat Ferrari.
Shelby responses by saying that it is not about money or the speed, but it all comes down to having a pure racer behind the wheel of the car. Shelby indicates about Ken Miles, who, by reputation, nobody trusts or likes at the Corporate.
โWeโre lighter, weโre faster, and if that donโt work, weโre nastier,โ says an excited Carroll Shelby at one point of the trailer.
The film is directed by James Mangold who previously directed the brilliant tear-jerker Logan, starring Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart. He also directed a fine biopic Walk the Line, starring Joaquin Phoenix in 2005.
Must-Read:
Moreover, this is not his first collaboration with Christian Bale. 12 years ago, Mangold directed Bale in the criminally underrated 3:10 to Yuma. The point being, the film is in the hands of someone who is working in his familiar territory.
