Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies: Christmas has come early for Star Wars and Studio Ghibli’s admirers as the Studio announced a surprise collaboration on 11th November 2022. The animated short film on the adorable Grogu, lovingly known among fans as Baby Yoda is not in a galaxy far far away but premiers today on 12th November 2022.
Studio Ghibli teased a potential collaboration with Lucas Films by sharing a cryptic video on Twitter showing the logo of Lucas Films followed by that of their own on 10th November 2022.

The short tweet came as a surprise to fans of both Star Wars and Studio Ghibli; both the studios have over the years have continued to have a huge loyal and passionate fan base. Much to make the already thrilled fans even more excited Studio Ghibli shared an image of a tiny Baby Yoda figurine with the Studio’s founder Hayao Miyazaki out of focus in the background.

Lucas Films tweeted a hand-drawn image showing Grogu, known and loved by fans from the popular Television show ‘The Mandalorian’ surrounded by dust bunnies from the now cult Academy Award-winning, Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki film Spirited Away.

The animated short titled ‘Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies’ is a collaboration fan always wanted but didn’t think they might get, the surprise manifestation of a collaboration of two of cinema’s greatly loved studios has made fans excited. Disney+ also confirmed the collaboration on Friday 11th November 2022.

The plot of the animated short film seems to concern the current fan favorite Baby Yoda facing encounters with the dust bunnies from now iconic Studio Ghibli’s film ‘Spirited Away.’ Grogu has almost become the mascot of Lucas films these days with its popularity in the television series ‘The Mandalorian’ and fans have continuously been asking for this mysterious adorable alien baby.
This isn’t the first time Lucas Films has collaborated with an anime studio, it has previously released a series of 9 shorts in 2022 for its ‘Star Wars: Visions’ anthology series.
‘Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies’, the animation short by Studio Ghibli and Lucas Films promises to be visually stunning and adorable in equal measures. The film premieres today on 12th November on Disney’s streaming site Disney+ making the weekend indeed very happy.
