Matthew Perry Memoir: The Friends actor Matthew Perry has vowed to delete his criticism of Keanu Reeves from the upcoming publication of his recent autobiography. The author of Chandler Bing, according to Entertainment Weekly, regrets disparaging Reeves in the writing of his book, which was published late last year. Future printings of the book, he has assured, won’t contain the dig at the actor, and Perry has acknowledged that he said something stupid. Perry already apologized to Reeves in front of the public and promised to make amends in person if they ever crossed paths.

What Did Matthew Perry Say About Keanu Reeves?

Celebrity deaths were mentioned in Perry’s autobiographical book, with one chapter focusing on a group of well-known stars who passed away too young. Perry said that the “really talented guys who go down” were Heath Ledger from The Dark Knight and River Phoenix from Stand by Me. “Why is it that original thinkers like River Phoenix and Heath Ledger die, but Keanu Reeves still walks among us?” he continued in his writings.

He repeated this sentiment later in the book when discussing his reaction to the death of Chris Farley, stating, “I punched a hole through Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room wall when I found out. Keanu Reeves walks among us.” Perry later noted that despite these comments, he was “actually a big fan of Keanu” and that he chose to use him as an example randomly because they live on the same street. “It was a mean thing to do,” he stated, claiming that “should have used my own name instead.”

Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing is the name of Perry’s book. It includes anecdotes from the well-known comedic actor about his time working on television and his fights with addiction, painting an open discussion of his well-publicized difficulties with drug abuse. The Daily Mail reviews the book claiming, “There’s never been a more honest or raw memoir” while the Times reviews it as “funny, fascinating, compelling… also a wonderful read for fans of Friends.”

Reeves is currently enjoying huge success with the most recent installment of the John Wick series, which received positive reviews and set the box-office on fire. The Continental and Ballerina are two of the many spin-offs based on the movie’s setting that are now in production.
