The Idol Episode 4 Recap:

“Stars Belong to the World”

It’s a new day at Jocelyn’s home. We can see the cleaners cleaning up the aftermath of the party, all the while complaining about how Tedros is a negative influence on Jocelyn’s life and the overall state of the house. It feels as though Tedros has taken control of her life, her decisions, and her home. A brief portrayal of him as a king in the castle is sufficient to understand the extent of his influence. He sits down with Leia and proceeds to cancel all the important items on her daily calendar, including the collaborative effort between Leia and Jocelyn, because he believes it’s what’s best for Jocelyn.

Meanwhile, Destiny and Chaim meet up to discuss Tedros. Destiny reveals that Tedros’ real name is Mauricio Costello Jackson, and he has a criminal record dating back to 2012 when he was arrested for kidnapping his ex-girlfriend. To make matters worse, additional allegations emerged during his trial, resulting in a 400-page transcript.

Just then, a relaxed Mike Dean, who is smoking a bong, arrives at the house to check the acoustics. Dean’s team, along with Jocelyn and Tedros, settle in the studio to create a new sound for Jocelyn. We can see Tedros’ influence on both the track and the lyrics she is going to write. Jocelyn expresses her gratitude towards Tedros because she no longer has to make important decisions and trusts him completely. Back at Chaim’s office, Destiny suggests killing Tedros and removing him from Jocelyn’s life. However, Chaim proposes that Destiny goes undercover to gather more detailed information about Tedros and his plans with Jocelyn.

Next, we see Destiny at the house, where she meets Chloe. She sits down with Chloe and discovers that she plays the piano, listening to her sing one of her ‘made-up’ songs. Destiny then asks Chloe about how she came to know Tedros, and Chloe reveals that she was a heroin addict living on the streets. Tedros helped her get clean and provided her with a place to stay. She also learns that all the people under Tedros’ wing have been squatting at Jocelyn’s place, and before that, they used to live in his club. In a slip of the tongue, Chloe also confesses that she is actually underage and Tedros might be exploiting her talent for his own benefit.

In the studio, Tedros can be seen bullying Leia out of the equation, possibly to have more control over Jocelyn’s existence. Destiny arrives at the studio and offers her own input on the track they are working on. Tedros decides to blindfold Jocelyn to make the track rawer, attempting to bring her to a climax, which makes everyone in the studio extremely uncomfortable and weirded out.

Afterward, Destiny calls Chaim and updates him on what’s happening in the house. She informs him about Tedros’ strange and torturous methods to bring out the best in the talented group of people in the house. While Destiny is not impressed by his methods, she suggests waiting and finding out what happens because Tedros is doing something different.

Meanwhile, Dyanne arrives at Magistrate Records and meets up with Nikki and the other board members who are trying to bring her on board. Nikki offers her a great deal but also instructs her that her first song would be ‘World Class Sinner.’ Although doing Jocelyn’s track as her first song makes Dyanne uncomfortable (as evidenced by her being on the verge of a breakdown during the meeting), she doesn’t say anything because offers like these don’t come every day.

What is Xander’s story?

While Tedros is walking around the house, he hears Xander singing in the shower. Later, he gathers everyone and forcefully puts Xander in a chokehold. He questions why Xander doesn’t sing despite having such a special gift. In the presence of Jocelyn, Xander confesses that Jocelyn’s mother forced him to sign a contract and never to sing again because he posed competition to Jocelyn.

The conversation reveals that Jocelyn’s mother exposed Xander when he was 14, leaving him with no choice but to become part of Jocelyn’s entourage. Jocelyn becomes visibly distressed as Xander explains this, and he also mentions that it wasn’t only Jocelyn’s mother who was responsible, but Jocelyn herself, with a self-centered and twisted personality. Hurt by his words, Jocelyn asks Tedros to shock Xander, causing further pain to him.

Afterward, Jocelyn and Tedros collaborate on another song titled “Tough Love” while Destiny observes. Destiny once again appreciates the song but feels it could benefit from more grit. She then sits down with Jocelyn and inquires about what she knows regarding Tedros. Jocelyn explains the entire situation of Tedros’ abusive ex-girlfriend and the prison incident but from the perspective of “the man.” This almost suggests that Tedros was not at fault and that the multiple women were the ones to blame.

Why does Tedros ask Jocelyn to go public?

The next morning, Tedros visits Jocelyn’s room with the idea of her going public. Jocelyn goes live and narrates the entire story of her mother’s relentless abuse towards her, highlighting the traumatic experiences she had endured. This strategy to share Jocelyn’s story serves two purposes: relieving Jocelyn of some of the burden she has been carrying and attracting more support from fans who will empathize with her sob story.

After going public, Jocelyn throws a massive party at the house where everyone indulges in debauchery and gets drunk, having a good time. However, Leia starts feeling uneasy as the house transforms into something she doesn’t approve of. She gets into a heated argument with Tedros, who then proceeds to embarrass her in front of everyone. Leia walks away, and for the first time in a long while, Jocelyn stands up for her and tells Tedros that his actions were wrong.

The Idol Episode 4 Ending, Explained:

What does Jocelyn learn about Tedros?

While Jocelyn is sitting with Chloe, who is high on Molly, she learns that Dyanne, who also attends the party, was the one who brought Jocelyn to the club because Tedros asked her to. Dyanne has feelings for Tedros and did what he wanted out of love for him. However, according to Chloe, she didn’t know that Tedros would start having a sexual relationship with Jocelyn and completely shut Dyanne out.

Later, Jocelyn has a conversation with Dyanne at the party, where Dyanne seeks Jocelyn’s approval before taking up “World Class Sinner” as her first single. Jocelyn is shocked to hear that the label has offered the single to Dyanne but is extremely supportive of her friend because she recognizes it as a huge opportunity and encourages her to take it.

Feeling betrayed and saddened by Tedros’ lack of honesty, Jocelyn calls her ex-boyfriend, Rob, to the party. Rob is an actor, and his arrival triggers jealousy in Tedros. However, Jocelyn takes Rob to her room and seduces him while Tedros listens in agony. This reveals a darker side of Jocelyn’s character, as her actions align somewhat with Xander’s opinion of her.

In the ending of Episode 4 of “The Idol,” Rob leaves the house because he has an early press tour to attend. However, before he can leave, Xander approaches him with Sophie, claiming to be a fan and requesting a photograph.

Xander then takes compromising pictures of Rob and Sophie, making Rob angry as he departs. Rob asks Xander to delete the photos, but it can be assumed that he won’t, as Tedros might have instructed him to obtain the pictures to eliminate Rob from the equation.
