The cinematic world is once again going to witness the film adaptation of a renowned novel, and the cast involved in it is a cherry on top. “Barbie” fame America Ferrera, who is also an Oscar nominee will be a part of the lead cast in the upcoming film adaptation. Ferrera has been cast in Paul Greengrass’ upcoming drama “The Lost Bus” alongside Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey. 

America Ferrera is all set to make an impact on the audience with her upcoming project

Since it’s a trend to adapt famous novels into films, actress America Ferrera has boarded that same bus which leads to film adaptations of famous books. The actress delivered an incredible performance as Gloria, a mother and Mattel employee who embarks on an adventure to Barbie World in Greta Gerwig’s billion-dollar blockbuster “Barbie.” She even received her first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role. Now, the actress is all set to once again make an impact on the audience with her upcoming film “The Lost Bus.” 

This isn’t the only novel adaptation Ferrera is a part of, as she will be playing a crucial role in “I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter,” an adaptation of the acclaimed novel. Interestingly, in this film, she won’t be showcasing her talent on screen. Instead, she will be helming the camera. Penned by Linda Yvette Chavez, the film will mark Ferrera’s directorial debut. The details about the film are scarce, but it is slated for production in 2024. 

Ferrera rose to fame with the 2002 coming-of-age film “Real Women Have Curves.” The film led to a meteoric rise in her career as later she bagged the starring role in the comedy TV series “Ugly Betty.” Her portrayal of Betty Suarez made her the first and only Latina to win the Lead Comedy Actress award at the Emmys in 2007. She remains the only one to have been nominated in the category more than once.

She is also the recipient of various honors, including the Golden Globe and SAG Awards. 

All about America Ferrera’s upcoming film ‘The Lost Bus’

America Ferrera’s upcoming film The Lost Bus is based on Lizzie Johnson’s book “Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire.” The book portrays the tragic events of the devastating 2018 California wildfires that resulted in over 100 deaths and destroyed the majority of the town of Paradise. The fires were the deadliest in the state’s history. 

Directed by Paul Greengrass, the film revolves around Kevin McKay (McConaughey) and Mary Ludwig (Ferrera), a bus driver and teacher who lead a school bus full of young students through the Camp Fire. Greengrass is an Oscar-nominated and winning director known for directing films like “The Bourne Ultimatum,” “Captain Phillips,” “News of the World,” and “United 93”. 

Being developed, produced, and distributed by Apple Original Films, the production of the film will commence this spring.
