The Penguin WGA: Colin Farrell’s upcoming Max Series – ‘The Penguin’ has halted production amidst the ongoing writers’ strike in New York. It is the latest high-profile TV production that was disrupted by WGA-organized picket sign-holding protestors.
The Batman spinoff series was supposed to start filming in Westchester, New York, on Tuesday. However, the WGA East picketers reached there before the shoots to stop it. The local guilds and the Teamsters refused the crew to cross the picket line. As a result, filming for the Matt Reeves series was shut down for the day, according to the sources on Deadline.
The writers took their anger to Twitter and used DC references to seal the deal! They used this topical moment to take a jibe at the studio. Here’s an example of the writers’ dig against the unfair studios:

What is the Max series – The Penguin about?
The Penguin is based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It comes from Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Besides Colin Farrell, the cast includes Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell.
The series is executive produced by Matt Reeves, Collin Farrell, and Dylan Clark, along with Lauren LeFranc, one of the showrunners; Craig Zobel, the director of the first three episodes; and Bill Carraro.
What is Collin Farell known for besides The Penguin?
Collin Farrell is a highly acclaimed Irish actor who recently received high praise for his role in The Banshees of Inisherin. His performance as Padraic garnered him several accolades, including an Oscar nomination. In the same year, Farrell appeared in three more releases- Kogonada’s After Yang, Ron Howard’s Thirteen Lives, and Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
The unconventional choice of casting Farrell as Penguin had raised many brows. But Farrell put their doubts to rest by giving a phenomenal performance as a nemesis standing against the caped vigilante. He sold the role with his powerful acting despite heaps of prosthetic makeup. Considering the success of this DC film, the studios were eager to cash in on its popularity. As a result, they greenlit the new series under the helm of Matt Reeves.
Besides that, Farrell is also known for his excellent work in films like In Bruges, The Lobster, and The Killing of a Sacred Deer. He has also starred in big-budget productions such as Minority Report, Total Recall, and Alexander.
