Double iSmart” is a 2024 film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film stars Ram Pothineni as Shankar, Sanjay Dutt as Big Bull, Kavya Thapar as Jannat, and Sayaji Shinde as Chandrakanth. The film starts with a flashback to Shankar’s childhood, a time he will never forget. His father had walked out on him and his mother, Pochamma, leaving them in a tough spot where they often went to bed hungry.
On those restless nights, Shankar would wake up to hear his mother crying, blaming herself for not being able to give her son the life she felt he deserved. During one of these days, Shankar’s mother made him swear that he’d live like a king when he grew up, never having to worry about food or money. “To do that,” Pochamma told him, “you need a sharp mind and the courage to back it up.” Years later, Shankar is all grown up. Why did Big Bull need Shankar?
Big Bull has been a notorious criminal on the crime branch’s radar for over two decades. He started small, hustling drugs, tobacco, and cigarettes. But he eventually leveled up, getting into the illegal arms trade and selling to anyone with deep pockets. Big Bull has always had plenty of money and luck—until now. His luck runs out when he gets diagnosed with glioma, a deadly brain tumor that’ll take him out in three months.
To not let the tumor be his end, Big Bull orders his men to find a way to cheat death. He brings in Dr. Thomas, a well-known neurologist, who tells him the only way out is a radical procedure that involves transferring Bill’s mind and consciousness into a new body. Basically, Bill’s body would die, but his mind could live on.
Bill loves the idea and immediately tells the doctor to find him the perfect host for this life-saving procedure. For weeks, Dr. Thomas runs countless experiments but keeps striking out, unable to find the ideal match for the mind transfer. Then, Thomas remembers Shankar. He’s already been through a similar procedure, making him the perfect candidate. Transferring Big Bull’s memories into Shankar’s body would be as simple as plugging in a USB and copying the files.
When Big Bull hears this, he orders his men to kidnap Shankar and bring him to him, ready to make the switch. For a couple of days, Big Bull’s men try to kidnap Shankar. But the latter ends up beating them to a pulp. Bentley even offers one crore to whoever brings Shankar to her, although they all end up in a hospital.
What is the connection between Shankar & Big Bull?
Big Bull eventually decides to head to Hyderabad himself, despite Bentley warning him against it. Bentley reminds him that he’s been on RAW’s most-wanted list for decades. If they catch wind that Bill is in India, they’ll stop at nothing to lock him up for good, ensuring he never sees daylight again.
Once Shankar is kidnapped, he’s taken to Big Bull’s secret base. Right away, Shankar senses what’s going on. He realizes that he will be a victim of memory transfer. Shankar also spots Big Bull and recognizes him instantly as the man who killed his mother years ago, back when Big Bull was just a low-level thug hustling in Hyderabad, long before he became a billionaire arms dealer.
Years ago, Big Bull murdered his father when he refused to hand over his property and business. Shankar and his mother, Pochamma, were the only witnesses to the crime. Bull shot them both to tie up loose ends, but Shankar survived. Fast forward to the present, the memory transfer is a success, but fragments of Shankar’s memories remain intact. He manages to escape, but Big Bull’s memories will completely overwrite his own within four days. Now, Shankar has four days to settle the score and get revenge.
Who is Chandrakant?
Chandrakanth is the head of India’s intelligence agency RAW. He gets wind of Big Bull landing in India. While he can’t quite figure out why Bull would take such a risky move, he wastes no time and sends his team to arrest him at the airport. But, as slippery as ever, Big Bull manages to escape. Chandrakanth’s men catch one of Bull’s henchmen, and after some “third-degree,” the crook reveals that Big Bull plans to transfer his mind into someone else’s body.
What Chandrakanth doesn’t realize yet is that Bull has chosen Shankar for this job. Moreover, Chandrakanth has worked with Shankar before, back when he was with the CBI, to bring down another notorious criminal. Chandrakanth believes Big Bull is planning something huge and wants to know what it is.
With Big Bull’s memories in his head, Shankar logs into Bull’s bank accounts and changes the passwords. He demands Big Bull to release Jannat, or he’ll transfer the entire fortune to an overseas account, where Bill will never see a dime again. Shankar is hell-bent on killing Big Bull to avenge his mother’s murder. Meanwhile, Chandrakanth wants him alive, arrested, and brought to justice by the book. Therefore, both men are forced to work together. Also, Shankar’s mind keeps flipping between his own memories and Big Bull’s, making their partnership even more complicated.

What is Big Bull planning?
Big Bull plots to stir unrest in South India, demanding a separate nation. His goal is to spark a civil war, flood the streets with guns and drugs, and throw the country into complete disarray. With riots already breaking out, people dying, and police stations being torched, it’s clear Big Bull’s scheme has already been put in motion.
If successful, India will be split into two parts: North and South. At first, Shankar, now fully transformed into Big Bull, had forgotten everything about his true mission. Still, after rescuing a woman named Pochamma from a corrupt cop, the memories come flooding back. Shankar realizes he must take down Big Bull as soon as possible. Big Bull’s plan to divide India takes another hit when Jannat transfers all his money to RBI.
As the film nears its end, it is revealed that everything that’s happened wasn’t just random. It was all part of Shankar’s intricate plan. Shankar orchestrated it so Big Bull would come to India by having the hospital fake a diagnosis of a terminal tumor, giving Bull only three months to live. Since Shankar’s the only one who’s survived a memory transfer, Bull had no choice but to make the trip. But now that Big Bull’s healthy and no longer on the brink of death, he decides he doesn’t need Shankar anymore. He tries to eliminate both Shankar and Jannat, but his plans fall apart, and he ends up getting killed himself.
With Big Bull dead, Shankar finally fulfills his promise to avenge his mother’s death.
