Now, the director-actor duo is once again returning to bring something exciting. Stone and Lanthimos will be working under the production banner of Searching Pictures. It was recently announced by the company that Yorgos Lanthimos’s new sci-fi anthology movie Kinds of Kindness will hit theaters on June 21. This news about Stone and Lanthimos’ collaboration comes after Stone earned her second Academy trophy for her role as Bella Baxter in Lanthimos’ Poor Things. This wasn’t the first time they had collaborated and given a masterpiece, as the pair also previously worked together on 2018’s The Favourite. The film received 10 Oscar nominations, including best supporting actor for Stone, with the movie’s lone win going to Olivia Colman for lead actress.

The upcoming anthology Kinds of Kindness is not only helmed by Lanthimos, but he also co-wrote the screenplay with Efthimis Filippou. Filippou and Lanthimos have previously worked together in four films, including 2015’s The Lobster and 2017’s The Killing of a Sacred Deer. Lanthimos, who serves as the filmmaker and co-writer of the film, will also be producing the project alongside Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, and Kasia Malipan.
During a British Film Institute event in January, Lanthimos gave a peak at his upcoming project, telling the audience what can be expected, He said, “It’s three different stories, and we’re finishing the edit right now, and I still can’t tell you exactly what it is about,” he said at the time. “But I also wouldn’t want to tell you what I thought the stories were about because it just makes it so small. I try not to even think about it during the process because I’m afraid that it will make my choices more narrow.”
Lanthimos latest film, Poor Things, earned 11 Oscar nominations and four wins, including Stone’s Best Actress Award award, best production design, costume design, and makeup and hairstyling.
Based on a 1992 novel by Alasdair Gray, the film focuses on Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a young woman in Victorian London who is brought back to life via a brain transplant and embarks on an odyssey of self-discovery. With loads of accolades and acclamation earned, the film was also a financial success that grossed over $108 million worldwide on a budget of $35 million.
