All about Disney’s upcoming Inside Out 2

Every time Pixar and Disney collaborate, it’s obvious to expect something huge. The films made under these production houses often provide us nostalgia, with a deep meaning attached to them. One such film from the production is Inside Out. Released in 2015, the film garnered global attention and earned $857.6 million worldwide. Inside Out featured the story of 11-year-old Riley (played by Kensington Tallman) and the inner workings of her mind. As Riley relocates with her family, five personified emotions administer her thoughts and actions.

Now, in the highly anticipated sequel of the film, the narrative delves deeper into the complexities of her emotions, focusing on Riley’s teenage years. The various emotions of Riley will be voiced by Amy Poehler who will depict her exuberant and optimistic emotion, Joy. Phyllis Smith will voice sadness, Lewis Black will be heard voicing Anger, and Maya Hawke as Anxiety.

The upcoming film will also introduce three new animated characters, voiced by Paul Walter Hauser, Ayo Edebiri, and Adèle Exarchopoulos. The three newcomers will voice the new emotions Riley will sense as a teenage girl. Edebiri voices Envy, a perpetually jealous character; Exarchopoulos voices Ennui, representing boredom and eye-rolling emotions; and Hauser voices Embarrassment, a burly, red-faced character. Emotions like fear and disgust previously voiced by Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling in Inside Out will be replaced in the sequel by Tony Hale and Liza Lapira, respectively.

Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan return to voice Riley’s mom and dad; Sumayyah Nuriddin-Green and Grace Lu provide the voices for Riley’s besties; and Yvette Nicole Brown voices Coach Roberts, who heads up a summer hockey camp. Additionally, the voice cast includes Sarayu Blue, Flea, Ron Funches, Dave Goelz, James Austin Johnson, Bobby Moynihan, Frank Oz, Paula Pell, Paula Poundstone, John Ratzenberger, Kendall Coyne Schofield, June Squibb, Kirk Thatcher, and Yong Yea.

Inside Out 2 is scheduled to release in theaters on June 14.
