Biopics have been a major draw of the cinematic industry. Now, one more biopic is on its way to reflect on the larger-than-life experience of a legendary icon. The audience will get to witness a glimpse of Bruce Springsteen’s life. Springsteen is a renowned American rock singer, songwriter, and guitarist who is also known by his nickname, “The Boss.” To portray the role of musical legend Bruce Springsteen, the name of Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Allen White is being considered.
All about Bruce Springsteen’s Musical Biopic with Jeremy Allen White
Jeremy Allen White is in talks to play the rock superstar in Bruce Springsteen’s upcoming biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere. The film is based on Warren Zanes’s 2023 book of the same name. Since it is a biopic, it will revolve around Springsteen’s life, but it will majorly focus on the making of Springsteen’s 1982 album, Nebraska.
Scott Cooper, who will helm the film, adapted the book. Gotham Group, which includes Eric Robinson and Ellen Goldsmith-Vein as producers, will produce the film. Former Netflix film head Scott Stuber is also involved in the film adaptation of Deliver Me From Nowhere.
But why is a film being made on Springsteen’s life? Because he is a legend in the world of music, he is known as a pioneer of heartland rock. He has released 21 studio albums during a career spanning six decades. The singer/songwriter is celebrated for his descriptive lyrics and energetic concerts, which sometimes last over four hours. The upcoming film will center around his sixth studio album, Nebraska, released two years before his smash Born in the U.S.A. came out in 1984. Nebraska is one of the most highly regarded albums in Springsteen’s catalog and was ranked number 150 in Rolling Stone’s 2020 edition of its “The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time” list.
Since White’s name is considered to portray the character of the legendary rockstar, it is obvious that it elevates the responsibility of the actor to give true justice to the character. However, considering White’s previous acting credits and accolades he has been honored with for his talent, it can be said that Cooper must have seen some potential in White to portray Spirngsteen’s character.
White is prominently known for his appearance as chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto in the comedy-drama series The Bear, for which he received a Primetime Emmy Award and two Golden Globe Awards. His other acting credit includes the thriller series Homecoming (2018), Afterschool (2008), Bad Turn Worse (2013), After Everything (2018), The Rental (2020), Fremont (2023), and The Iron Claw (2023).
Meanwhile, Cooper, the director of the upcoming film, is known for such titles as Crazy Heart (2009), Out of the Furnace (2013), Black Mass (2015), and The Pale Blue Eye (2022).
Cooper’s directorial work is primarily based on the drama genre, so something exciting can be expected from his upcoming project.
