The highly anticipated sequel of the 2019 film Joker has unveiled its new poster with an announcement of the soon-to-be-released trailer. Directed by Todd Phillips, the sequel is titled Joker: Folie à Deux, featuring Joaquin Phoenix in the titular role of the Clown Prince of Crime. What comes as an exciting package to the film is Lady Gaga’s appearance as Harley Quinn, which will also mark the second cinematic incarnation of the character after Margot Robbie’s version in the DCEU movie timeline. The official Joker movie X account has also confirmed that the first Joker 2 trailer will be released on Tuesday, April 9.
What can be expected in the first glimpse of the upcoming Joker 2: Folie à Deux trailer?
Fans of the antihero character Joker were bestowed with a treat: a new poster has been released teasing the upcoming DC sequel Joker: Folie à Deux. In the poster, Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck and Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn take center stage, and fans can see the Clown Prince of Crime dancing with Harley Quinn.
The first official poster for the Elseworlds-based movie seems enticing enough to intrigue the fans to think about what will be shared in the first footage of the upcoming trailer.
The musical, psychological thriller features Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck / Joker, a mentally ill, impoverished former party clown and stand-up comedian disregarded by society. His history of physical and mental abuse causes him to become a nihilistic criminal with a clown-inspired persona. That is when Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a.k.a. Harley Quinn (played by Lady Gaga), enters the story. Initially assigned to treat Arthur, her curiosity eventually turns to obsession, and she forms a deadly romantic relationship with him.

Though the film centers around the titular character Joker, it wouldn’t be shocking if the upcoming trailer perhaps told not just from Arthur’s point-of-view but also from Harley’s perspective as she enters his world. Moreover, since it is a musical psychological thriller, the sequel’s trailer may give a preview of that element. The trailer may include at least one major Joker: Folie à Deux musical song, as it has been reported that the film is set to include at least 15 established songs that will be reinterpreted.
Apart from the film’s lead Phoenix and Gaga, fans will get to witness Zazie Beetz reprising her role as Sophie Dumond, a single mother and Arthur’s former neighbor. Additionally, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, Ken Leung, and Harry Lawtey have been cast in undisclosed roles, while Leigh Gill and Sharon Washington reprise their roles as Gary and Arthur’s social worker, respectively.
Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to be released on October 4, 2024.
