Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s directorial venture, “Kill,” has resonated powerfully with global audiences, underscoring the potency of raw, unfiltered filmmaking. The film’s uncomplicated narrative belies its profound impact; its craftsmanship is a masterstroke, leaving us eagerly anticipating each action set piece. At the heart of this pulse-pounding, visually stunning, and relentlessly violent thriller are two extraordinary talents. Lakshya’s striking screen presence is matched only by his surprisingly deep voice, a facet often overlooked. Raghav Juyal’s stellar performance as the bad guy is a revelation, hinting at a promising future.

“Kill” is a cinematic goldmine. While a slightly shorter runtime might have enhanced its pace, I’m loath to criticize a film I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. It’s a masterpiece that demands to be seen and celebrated. Now, let’s delve into Lakshya’s killer performance in “Kill.”

Spoilers Ahead.

Kill (2024) Plot Summary and Movie Synopsis:

“Kill” begins by introducing the protagonist, Amrit Rathod, who is an NSG commando returning from a mission. Upon his arrival, as Amrit switches on his phone, he finds out that his girlfriend, Tulika, has tried to contact him numerous times. He calls her back and learns that her father, Baldeo Singh Thakur, owner of Shanti Transport and a very powerful man, has decided her marriage to someone else. Tulika has tried to contact Amrit to let him know about the situation.

Later, Amrit arrives at Ranchi on the day of Tulika’s engagement along with his friend cum comrade on the battlefield, Viresh. Amrit plans to escape with her on that day. However, Tulika reminds him how powerful her father is. They will not hesitate to shoot Amrit dead if he attempts anything silly. The following day, Tulika’s family boards the train (AC coach) to New Delhi, and unbeknownst to her, Amrit and Viresh board the same train. After a certain point, Amrit meets with Tulika in between the compartments. He also proposes to her inside the toilet. Tulika throws her engagement ring and wears Amrit’s ring. In fact, the couple thinks that they are just a train journey away from staying together forever.

What does Fani plan to do with Baldeo Singh?

As the journey starts, Viresh and Amrit settle on the side upper, and Amrit starts texting Tulika. Meanwhile, a guy named Fani, who works at a petrol pump, hops on a bike to board the same train from a different station. Fani is a dacoit who is the son of their leader, Beni. Beni does not trust Fani due to his adamant and ruthless nature. Nevertheless, he puts him in charge of the robbery. Fani boards the train along with other dacoits to loot the passengers. Before they start their proceedings, Fani starts to recce the compartments so that the police can not stop them from doing what they are about to do.

The dacoits have jammers with them, and they activate it in the compartments they plan to loot. While the jammers are active, Fani kills a police officer by landing a sharp blow on his head, and the looting starts. Fani has already seen Tulika, whose beauty has grabbed his attention. During the looting, he comes across her once again. When Fani tries to grab her hands, Baldeo interferes. Fani is about to strike Baldeo, but one of his men tells him who Baldeo Singh is. Fani thinks that he can double their loot if they can kidnap Baldeo and his family and demand a ransom.

Why does Fani Want to Kill Amrit and Viresh?

Meanwhile, Viresh and Amrit also comply with the dacoits. They don’t fight them since the numbers are immense, even for the two professionally trained NSG commandos. Before the loot happened, Tulika’s sister, Ahaana, went to a different compartment because the toilets were occupied. Now, Tulika remains silent about Ahaana since she has already understood that if the dacoits know she is related to Baldeo Singh, her life will be under greater threat. When Amrit and Viresh find an opportunity to sneak into Tulika’s compartment, they find that her family is being harassed by Fani’s men.

The commandos take the opportunity to kill one of Fani’s men. Fani and his cousin Ravi run away from the compartment. Now, since both parties are involved, the fight breaks out. Fani’s men seek revenge since Ravi’s father is stabbed to death by Viresh during the fight. Amrit and Viresh try to ensure that Tulika’s family, along with others, remain safe. Tulika mentions Ahaana to Amrit, and he promises her he will make sure that Ahaana is safe. After a few more action, Viresh gets shot beneath his shoulder while Amrit is captured by the dacoits. There’s no news of Ahaanaas, and now Beni enters the train.

What Happens to Tulika?

Around this time, Viresh and Amrit decide to go separate ways so that they can cover most areas. Amrit binds Ravi with some bed sheets and makes him stand in the way that his body is kind of hanging out of the train door. Meanwhile, Fani moves through the top of the train to reach the compartment where Baldeo Singh and his family are so that he can trap them for ransom. Fani rescues Ravi and gets hold of Tulika. She already has a knife handed to her by Amrit beforehand. When she Amritt, Tulika tries to free herself by stabbing Fani

But to everyone’s Fani stabs Tulika brutally and throws her body out of the running train. Amrit witnesses this soul-crushing thing, and something inside him snaps. Moreover, a teenager fighting the dacoits is also casually killed. All hell breaks loose when Amrit’s eyes are rooted at the spot where Tulika’s bloody hand prints are imprinted on the glass door. Until now, Amrit has only been fighting the dacoits off, but now he starts killing them.

Kill (2024) Movie Ending Explained:

How does Amrit Create Fear among the Dacoits?

From this point on, there’s nothing to explain much apart from the desire for vengeance from both parties. In the mayhem, Beni’s wish is never fulfilled as Amrit starts killing in an inconsiderate manner. Before facing Amrit, Beni plans to send Fani away from the train, which does not sit well with the rest of his men. They think that his fatherly love is protecting Fani, who is the reason behind all this chaos.

Anyway, once the jammer is taken care of, Viresh contacts the police. The police now start shooting at the dacoits wherever they see them. Viresh even plans to make some fire so that the station master sees it, and luckily, he does. He informs the TT of the train as the force is informed to reach the next station. After this point, the family of the teenager who was killed decides to join Amrit in the fight.

One of the most heinous men among the dacoits, Sattu (the bulky guy who killed the teenager), comes to seek revenge, and when he is almost on the verge of killing Amrit, the family hits him on the back of his head with whatever they have in hand. Finally, a woman grabs a hammer and delivers a hard blow on his head. Sattu dies on the spot. When his body is found, there is a number written in blood on his jacket, which is 24. Beni’s men see Sattu as the strongest of men. Seeing him in such a condition, they believe that Amrit is not going to let any one of them get out of the train alive.

Is Amrit Able to Save Ahaana?

Meanwhile, Fani boards the train again because he fails to get rid of the idea of killing Baldeo Singh. He and his father know if the man lives, he will make sure that the whole dacoit clan is hunted down. Their only chance of killing him is while he is inside the train. Therefore, Fani comes from the back and realizes that Baldeo Singh has a younger daughter as well. Ahaana has just met with her family and learns from Fani that her sister, Tulika, is dead.

Viresh tries to protect Ahaana from Fani. Even though he is in no condition to fight, he puts up some resistance with the last of his strength. In a tragic twist, Fani kills Viresh. There are times when Beni and Fani’s men beg them to run away from the situation as they have never seen such brutality in their whole lives, that too as dacoits. But since Ravi’s father and other men are killed, they are now compelled to take revenge on Amrit.

Fani reminds Beni that they need to kidnap Baldeo Singh so that they can give money to the families of the dead dacoits. Around this time, Amrit is captured and taken in front of Beni, where he sees Viresh’s dead body. Viresh’s death makes Amrit more vicious than ever as he sets Beni on fire and kills all the remaining dacoits, even the ones who try to escape from him. In a way, he makes sure that his promise to Tulika – to keep her sister safe – is fulfilled.

Is Amrit Dead or Alive?

In the final face-off between Fani and Amrit, there is not much of a competition. Regardless of having been stabbed numerous times, the urge for revenge pumps up Amrit’s adrenaline so much that Fani knows he is not facing a human. He even wonders if Amrit is a monster (rakshash). Fani is not afraid of anyone, but he meets his death in Amrit’s hands. As the train reaches the station, around 40 dacoits are killed by Amrit, including Fani and Beni.

At the end of the film, we see Amrit hugging Ahaana with utmost grief and later going to sit on a bench on the platform. He imagines Tulika holding his hand while he is barely able to breathe. It is unclear whether Amrit gets the medical attention he requires. There is not much scope for a sequel, so we can consider that Amrit dies in the end after getting his revenge. Amrit imagines Tulika resting on his shoulder as we reach the conclusion of this violently graphic tale.
