Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming film Kinds of Kindness has a new trailer. It provides a glimpse into the film that marks the reunion of Lanthimos’ frequent collaborators. It seems like when the filmmaker surrounds himself with his favorite people, it brings out the best in him, resulting in films like Poor Things. While we move on from the surrealism of Poor Things and Emma Stone’s impeccable portrayal of Bella Baxter, we now have another film to anticipate. Kinds of Kindness features Stone alongside her previous co-stars. The upcoming movie reunites the cast of Poor Things, including Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, and Margaret Qualley.

Searchlight Pictures has released the first official trailer for Kind of Kindness, which is full of surprises and ignites anticipation among fans.

According to the official synopsis of Kinds of Kindness, it is a “triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing at sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader.”

The rest of the anthology movie’s star power includes Jesse Plemons, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer.

Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos have proven to be beneficiaries of the actor-director duo

Each time Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone have come together, they have created some magic on the screen, which cannot be denied. With their upcoming film Kinds of Kindness, the actor-director duo marks their third collaboration, following their partnerships on The Favourite (2018) and Poor Things (2023).

When they first teamed up for the 2018 film The Favourite, their collaboration earned Stone an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress, while Lanthimos received nominations for Best Picture and Best Director. Later, their reunion in the 2023 film Poor Things won Emma Stone the Academy Award for Best Actress. Lanthimos earned another nomination for Best Picture and Best Director but missed out on the Oscar as Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer won the award.

Now that they have collaborated once again, it would be interesting to see if Kinds of Kindness will be good enough to land the director and star further nominations from the most prestigious awards ceremony in the film industry.

Kinds of Kindness will be released in select theaters on June 21.
