Marvel franchise is a vast universe where the characters are intricately connected to each other. The recent films from the franchise have somewhat failed to meet the expectations of the fans. But there was a time when there was a lot of hype for the Marvel films. Lately, the releases may have disappointed fans, but its inception was never futile. For instance, the 2023 released “The Marvels” may not have been a big box office success. However, it has contributed substantially to the development of themes within the overarching storyline of the Multiverse Saga. At the end of “The Marvels,” where the audience can see Monica Rambeau being trapped in another universe, there can be seen a potential introduction of new elements. Let’s dwell deep into the chances of new outcomes in the multiverse.

Sometimes the clue is right before our eyes, but we just fail to realize that. “The Marvels” narrates the tale of Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan / Ms. Marvel, played by Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani, respectively. The three superwomen team up as “the Marvels” after they begin swapping places with each other every time they use their powers. The trio confronts Zawe Ashton’s villain, Dar-Benn, who discovers one of the Quantum Bands, which were used to create a space travel network.

Giving way to her menacing thoughts, she forcibly opens a new jump point which leads to the anomaly that impacts Earth’s S.A.B.E.R. space station. Though Dar-Benn acquires the Quantum Bands, she isn’t strong enough to wield them and ends up losing her life. However, by the time Dar-Benn’s chapter is closed, the destruction has already been done. Fortunately, Monica Rambeau holds the power to amend the destruction as Dar-Benn created the rupture between realities. Although Rambeau was successful in closing the ruptures, unfortunately, she ended up getting stuck in the parallel universe.ย

Though the ending of “The Marvels” was not very cheery, it led to the introduction of new elements. In the post-credits of the film, we can see Rambeau is alive as she wakes up in a laboratory that is assumed to be the other universe’s version of Earth. The floor of the laboratory looks identical to the floors of the “X-Men” franchise. Though the MCU hasn’t confirmed Marvel’s association with the “X-men” franchise, certain similarities presume that in the future, it may be interrelated.ย

Moreover, in the film, if you look closely, you can see there is an instance where the logo for this reality’s X-Men can be seen on a computer screen. Apart from everything else, how can we forget that in the end, we see that in the parallel universe in which Rambeau is trapped, she meets a variant of her mother, Lashana Lynch’s Maria Rambeau? Additionally, in the last scene, we can also witness the iconic X-Men member Beast as Kelsey Grammer reprises his role from “X-Men: The Last Stand” and “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” suggesting Rambeau may be trapped in Fox’s “X-Men” Universe.

Although Monica Rambeau is no longer in the MCU’s 616 universe, she can return in the developing Marvel Studios’ X-men reboot. The film is not scheduled to be released yet. But it is expected that it may feature mutant characters joining the MCU from another reality. Before the X-Men get included in the MCU, fans will soon get to witness “Deadpool 3,” which is scheduled to release on 26 July 2023, and “Avengers: Secret Wars,” which will mark its release somewhere in 2027.

Since these Marvel films are already aligned to release and X-films are still in development, Monica Rambeau can return to the MCU’s next project following “The Marvels.”
