“My Two Husbands” opens with a woman standing in a parking lot waiting for someone. A man dressed in black clothes comes from behind and shoots her dead. The man grabs her handbag and phone before leaving her there. Soon after, we see Dane and Brooke waiting in a restaurant for Dane’s daughter, Eliza, to come. Dane and Brooke have been engaged recently. He wishes to share the news with Eliza. Brooke is worried about how Eliza will perceive her presence in her life. When Eliza comes and learns about all of this, she feels so disgusted as she confronts her father that this all happened too fast.
Eliza’s mother died only six months ago. Dane tries to make her understand that even before her mother died, they were separated for more than five years. Eliza leaves the restaurant. She meets with an accident. Fortunately, no serious wound is reported when Dane takes her to the hospital. Dane’s sister-in-law Carly comes to the hospital. Eliza complains to her about Brooke, and she tells her that since her parents were separated for a long time, she should move on with her life as well and give Brooke a chance.
What is Brooke’s Original Intention?
Soon, it is revealed that Brooke is originally married to a guy named Stefan. He has recently started a project to turn an old church into a nightclub. However, for this project, he requires a lot of money. For this venture, he has already borrowed money from people with whom you should not mess around. Now, Stefan sends Brooke to manipulate Dane into pouring money so that Stefan can pay back and they can enjoy their lives together. Brooke has already stolen Dane’s ex-wife’s necklace, which helps Stefan for the time being.
Amidst all of this, Eliza tries to talk to the detective who is in charge of her mother’s death. She tells Carly that she is sure her mother was murdered regardless of what the evidence says. So, Carly goes to the parking lot along with her best friend, Star, to find out if anything is fishy. They locate a bar nearby. When they go inside, the bartender seems very shady to Eliza. Later, when they are leaving, a woman named Flo gives her phone number to Eliza, saying that she had seen someone following her mother on the night she was murdered.
Why does Brooke Have a Change of Heart?
The woman tells Eliza that she will text her the address to meet, and they will talk more about it. Meanwhile, the bartender named Gus has already texted someone, saying that Eliza is asking about her mother. Later, Gus follows Flo to her car and stabs her to death. Gus grabs her phone and starts texting Eliza, sharing the location where to meet her. Later, we see Gus talking to Stefan about this. Stefan says that Gus needs to put an end to Eliza no matter what.
One night, Eliza steals a sum of money from her father’s locker to give to Flo in exchange for the information she has about her mother. Later, when Star picks up her phone, she suggests to Eliza that she not go to the location alone. But knowing that Eliza will not stop at anything, Star decides to tag along. Eliza arrives at the spot, and Gus is about to kill her. Just at that time, Star arrives at the spot, resulting in the failure of Gus and Stefan’s plan. Gus leaves the town knowing that things will get out of hand real soon.
Later, Eliza accidentally learns about Brooke’s pregnancy. When she confronts her, Brooke tells her that she has not had the time to break the news to Dane yet. Brooke has submitted a paternity test request to find out who the father is. When it shows that Dane is the father, she feels very relieved. Brooke has grown to respect Dane for the way he treats her with the utmost care and love, which she has never received from anyone in her life, including Stefan.
What does Eliza Learn about Her Birth?
So, now, with Brooke being pregnant with Dane’s child, Eliza feels more distant than ever before. Around this time, when Eliza finds her whole world collapsing, she overhears Carly and Dane talking. Eliza learns that Maureen, Dane’s ex-wife, was never her birth mother. It has always been Carly. Eliza locks herself inside her room when Carly explains that when she was 16 years old, she found that she was pregnant with her. Her boyfriend left her without taking any responsibility.
Later, when Maureen finds out that she can never become a mother, she and Dane find a solution by welcoming Eliza as their daughter. Since Carly is not able to parent Eliza alone, this opportunity hits her like a golden chance to give her daughter the life she deserves. Eliza leaves the house knowing that all she needs now is closure about how Maureen died. Once she gets that, all these things will sort out on their own. She leaves the house without saying where she is headed.

A Web of Lies: Who Knew What and When?
Before any of this took place, Eliza and Carly had found out about the private investigator Maureen hired to investigate Brooke. Maureen had never liked Brooke, not only because she was dating her ex-husband but also because she thought that Brooke had bad intentions. Eliza and Carly had visited the PI’s office, but sadly, he was dead. However, his assistant Jane had told them that if she could find anything, she would let them know. So, on the night when Eliza leaves her house after knowing that Carly is her birth mother, Jane calls her about a certain file.
From that file, Eliza learns about Stefan and Brooke as she goes to Charlotte to meet with Stefan. So basically, Stefan had planned everything from the beginning, and when he learned that Maureen was following Brooke’s movements, he told Gus to kill her. Meanwhile, Brooke finds Stefan with another woman and decides to confess everything to Dane. She also makes up her mind to leave Stefan for good, but he won’t let her leave. Instead, the following day, Stefan makes her call Dane and ask for more money. Later, when Stefan leaves for his nightclub, Brooke records a confession and sends it to Dane.
Eliza’s Journey: Finding Family, Facing Danger, and Achieving Closure?
On the other hand, Eliza is already waiting for Stefan outside the nightclub. When Eliza meets with Stefan, he tricks her into locking her inside a room and asks Brooke to come to the nightclub. Star tracks down Eliza and sends her location to Carly, who ends up at the nightclub. Brooke opens the door and asks Eliza to help her put an end to all of this. Finally, when Stefan tries to attack, Brooke successfully hits him with a heavy object. The three women leave the place immediately.
At the end of the film, we see Brooke visiting the family as she gets parole with Dane’s help. She is sorry for what she has done. However, Dane’s family is taking good care of her child. Carly and Eliza welcome Brooke into their family, and she promises to start fresh with Dane. Gus and Stefan are put in jail for murdering Maureen, so in a way, Eliza, too, gets her closure knowing that her mother’s killers finally get what they deserve.
