Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 18 “To Liberate Information” Recap:

The episode opens with a dialogue between Draka and Antoni. Since Draka is a nomad, Antoni says she has little say in anything. However, Draka points out that although the nomads have converted many generations ago, they are still discriminated against. This is the reason there is division among the church members. Hearing these words, Draka’s uncle warns her not to speak to Antoni in such a rude manner. However, Antoni wants to listen to Draka’s point of view on different matters.

The first thing Antoni asks is why Draka led the nomads/villagers to find fabrics when they could be uncovering something more valuable. So Draka says money depletes; to earn money, one needs to produce. When fabrics are used, they can be converted into many things, which can help people earn money.

Impressed with the answer, Antoni asks what will happen to the church. So Draka says it will waver, and if Antoni wants to protect his wealth, he needs to find a solution now. Curious, Antoni asks if Draka has a way, but Draka is unsure yet unbothered. If Draka cannot find a solution, she dies, but Antoni has more to lose.

Captivated by Draka’s intelligence, Antoni asks Draka to meet him at the church. However, they halt when Antoni notices a book in Draka’s hands. Draka wonders what to do when Antoni questions but decides to hand over the book, assuming Antoni can help. So Draka is about to give the book, but Schmidt and his men kill the church members. However, Antoni escapes. In the process of killing the church officials, Schmidt and his men also kill Draka’s uncle.

How do Draka and Schmidt differ in their belief in God?

After accepting her uncle’s death, Draka wonders who these men are. Schmidt says the book belongs to them, and they have come to fetch it. Weighing the options, Draka burns the book as she knows if she gives the book, then she won’t be able to escape her ill-fated life. As the book burns, Draka apologizes to Schmidt and says she remembers everything in the book. With no other choice, Schmidt decides to take Draka to their leader. Since Frei only remembers the first half of the book’s contents, he listens to Draka talk about the content and confirms that Draka remembers the information in the book. They now begin their journey to meet the leader.

After introducing themselves, Schmidt asks why Draka chose to burn the book. With a clear conviction, Draka says it was to make money. If Draka handed over the book, she would not have been able to make money from it. Now Schmidt warns Draka that everything she sees will trouble anyone who believes in the church’s orthodoxy. Luckily, Draka does not believe in the church or its class systems, which excites Schmidt. However, the differences in their opinion begin with the belief in God. While Schmidt believes in God, Draka does not. Thus begins a debate. After thinking briefly, Schmidt asks Draka to vanish once the collaborative work ends.

Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 18 “To Liberate Information” Ending Explained:

Faith, Knowledge, and the Power of the Written Word

Draka is curious why Schmidt thinks there is God. The very fact that the world exists means there is a creator. Hence, Schmidt believes in God’s natural creation: nature. According to Schmidt, God does not have a personality, nor can it be interpreted by a human being. However, Draka thinks worshipping nature is also a form of interpretation.

Furthermore, Schmidt adds that he does not trust in people’s intellect. But Draka believes it is important for human progress and evolution. According to Schmidt, the concepts of progress and evolution are unnatural. The debate is interrupted as the carriage stops so Schmidt can bask in the morning sun. When Schmidt finds God in sunlight, Draka feels agony with every sunrise as she is troubled by her past trauma of losing her father.

The journey continues, and Draka wants to know what Schmidt intends to do with the book. Draka’s concern about mass publishing a book is solved as the leader intended to mass-publish the book using a movable type. This is the reason Draka’s memory is of utmost importance. They will shake the foundation of the church’s orthodoxy by publishing the book. However, Frei does not understand why they are involved, as their job is to liberate the heretics. So Schmidt says this is the greatest liberation of all: Liberation of Information. Having differing opinions to find reason is important, and this book will help. The group now arrives at the location, and Schmidt introduces the leader of the Heretic Liberation Front. The leader is none other than Jolenta!

Will Jolenta Forgive Draka’s Betrayal?

In this episode, a shocking revelation unfolds—Jolenta is alive and now leads the Heretic Liberation Front. Driven by an unyielding mission, she is determined to spread the groundbreaking discoveries of Badeni and Oczy. However, with the book reduced to ashes, Jolenta finds herself face-to-face with Draka, the one responsible for its destruction.

While Jolenta dreams of reshaping the world with knowledge, Draka remains focused on her own survival, seeing information as nothing more than a means to make money. Their clashing ideals set the stage for an intense confrontation. Can Jolenta look past Draka’s actions and forge a path forward? Or will the burning of Oczy’s book become an unforgivable betrayal? Only time will tell.
