Perfect Family Episode 11 Recap:

The episode begins with a flashback in which Hyeon Min mixes sleeping tablets in Sang Ho and Seon Hui’s drink. After giving them the drinks, Hyeon Min waits outside. During this time, an arrested man seeks Jin Hyeok’s help. The man reports Hyeon Min for impersonating a prosecutor. At the same time, Eun Ju tries to call Sang Ho, but he does not answer. Sang Ho and Seon Hui are fast asleep, so Hyeon Min takes Sang Ho’s phone and leaves his office to meet someone. As Hyeon Min gets to the door, the cops arrive and arrest Hyeon Min. At the police station, Hyeon Min asks Jin Hyeok to help him, saying that this is the only way to save Sang Ho. Now Jin Hyeok realizes that Hyeon Min kidnapped Sang Ho. In anger, Jin Hyeok starts hitting Hyeon Min.

How did Seon Hui survive the fire?

After calming Jin Hyeok, the cops discuss with Jin Hyeok where Sang Ho could be. The police also have retrieved Sang Ho’s phone from Hyeon Min. So they know Sang Ho’s last location is Hyeon Min’s office. The cops think they have already checked the office, and Sang Ho is not there. However, Jin Hyeok remembers there being a door inside the office. When the cops checked the place, Jin Hyeok noticed a cabinet in front of that door. Now Jin Hyeok is sure Sang Ho is inside Hyeon Min’s office.

Meanwhile, Sang Ho wakes up from his sleep in a dark room. Sang Ho struggles to get to the door. Seon Hui wakes up at this time, calling out to Hyeon Min. Sang Ho comforts Seon Hui. Since it is dark, Sang Ho tries a switch to turn on the light. There is a circuit problem. When Sang Ho turns on the switch, there is a short circuit in the main office.

From the police station, Jin Hyeok, Eun Ju, and the cops hurry to Hyeon Min’s office. Sang Ho opens the office door, kicks the cabinet, and sees fire. Sang Ho shuts the door and rescues Seon Hui by pushing her out a small window in the room. Simultaneously, the cops get a message about a fire in Hyeon Min’s office. As Sang Ho tries to get out, the fire grows stronger, so he can’t escape. When the cops arrive, they rescue Seon Hui, but Sang Ho is dead. Eun Ju is in the hospital watching the news. The reporters suggest that since Seon Hui was with Sang Ho, it probably isn’t a kidnapping case. The reporters believe the judges increased Hyeon Min’s jail time because of Jin Hyeok. After the incident, Jin Hyeok changed his name and workplace.

Why do Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju adopt Seon Hui?

Since Hyeon Min is in the hospital and Hyeon Min’s mother has passed away, Seon Hui is in the orphanage. After a couple of years, Eun Ju often visits the orphanage to keep an eye on Seon Hui. One day, when Eun Ju is watching Seon Hui, Su Yeon asks Eun Ju who her child is. As they converse, Eun Ju asks Su Yeon to become friends with Seon Hui, who seems sad and lonely. Soon after that, Su Yeon and Seon Hui became best friends.

A few years later, Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju decide to adopt Seon Hui even though she is the daughter of the person who killed their son.  However, Eun Ju thinks of the situation positively, as Seon Hui is someone Sang Ho saved. Back to the present, the cops find Su Yeon unconscious on the building’s first floor. There, Eun Ju hugs Seon Hui, comforting her daughter. Jin Hyeok is looking for Hyeon Min, who will not be seen in the water.

Fast forward to the aftermath of the whole incident. The cops are investigating Eun Ju and Jin Hyeok. Meanwhile, Seon Hui is buying groceries with Hyeon-U. As Hyeon-U and Seon Hui sit on the park bench to talk, Hyeon-U indirectly confesses his love for Seon Hui. Immediately, Seon Hui makes an excuse to leave. Before leaving, Seon Hui thanks Hyeon-U for everything he has done. Now, Seon Hui cleans her burnt house’s kitchen and dining hall. Soon, Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju arrive and are greeted with a home-cooked meal.

Since Seon Hui has some information about the incident, she tells Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju that she understands them and knows that Hyeon Min has lied about a few things. As soon as Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju eat the seaweed soup, they fall asleep. It turns out that it was all Hyeon Min’s plan, as he was the one who had provided the medicine to put in the seaweed soup. At the same time, Hyeon-U has a bad feeling, so he calls the detective to check on Seon Hui.

Perfect Family (Season 1 Finale), Episode 12 Recap:

The episode begins with Seon Hui looking at her parents as Hyeon Min appears from the hall. Looking at Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju, Hyeon Min is impressed with his daughter. In a flashback, we see Seon Hui get a call from Hyeon Min asking to start over their relationship as father and daughter. To do that, Hyeon Min needs a favor from Seon Hui. The favor is to get rid of Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju. At present, Hyeon Min needs money before he does anything. So Seon Hui tells Hyeon Min where the safe is. The password for the safe is Seon Hui’s birthday. Hurriedly, Hyeon Min tries opening the safe but fails. Seon Hui’s birthday seems to have slipped out of Hyeon Min’s mind. Repeatedly, Seon Hui asks Hyeon Min if he remembers the day she was born.

Eventually, Hyeon Min recalls Seon Hui’s birthday. Once again, Hyeon Min punches in the code, and this time, the safe opens. Seeing the amount of money in the safe, Hyeon Min is overjoyed. Hyeon Min says that as long as he has money, he can also be a good father. To celebrate, Hyeon Min drinks alcohol from the bottle on the table nearby. In a few moments, Hyeon Min starts to choke. Soon, Hyeon Min is on the ground, and Seon Hui says this is her only option. In a flashback, we see Seon Hui mixing peanut powder with alcohol. Once Seon Hui confirms Hyeon Min is dead, Seon Hui drinks a glass of alcohol. Not long after, Detective Dong Ho arrives at the house and finds all four of them knocked out.

Three years later, Hyeon-U was seen writing an email to Seon Hui, hoping she would read it. It’s been a while since Seon Hui has gotten in touch with anyone. Hyeon-U is pursuing his dream of becoming an architect. In the email, Hyeon-U also provides updates about Su Yeon’s release from prison. Through Hyeon-U’s email, we learn that Seon Hui is in Canada. In the end, Hyeon-U says he misses Seon Hui. As Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju walk home, Eun Ju feels like someone is watching them. However, Eun Ju dismisses it, and they head home.

Perfect Family (Season 1) Finale Episode 12 Ending Explained:

Why did Seon Hui disappear?

Su Yeon is released from prison. Outside the gates, Hyeon-U and Su Yeon’s roommate wait for Su Yeon. As soon as Su Yeon sees Hyeon-U, she apologizes to him—and the trio heads to a coffee shop to catch up. Here, Hyeon-U tells Su Yeon that Seon Hui is not in touch with anyone. Moreover, Seon Hui has not attended school for the last two months. After prison, Su Yeon realizes she cornered Seon Hui despite liking Seon Hui. So Hyeon-U asks Su Yeon to express her feelings to Seon Hui when she returns. At home, Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju reminisce about the time they brought Seon Hui home from the orphanage for the first time. Suddenly, Eun Ju says she feels Seon Hui’s presence.

So Jin Hyeok rushes outside the home and sees Seon Hui. As soon as Seon Hui sees Jin Hyeok, she starts crying. At home, Seon Hui says she wanted to disappear forever but missed Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju. Therefore, Seon Hui decided to see everyone one last time before disappearing. Seon Hui wants to disappear because she doesn’t know if it is okay for her to live with Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju.

However, Jin Hyeok and Eun Ju assure Seon Hui that she is still their daughter. Jin Hyeok apologizes to Seon Hui for not being a good father. The family is now reunited. After a few days, Seon Hui writes a letter to her grandmother asking her to join her for a family portrait. On the day of the photoshoot, Seon Hui’s grandmother arrives and apologizes to all three. In the show’s last scene, we see Jin Hyeok, Eun Ju, and Seon Hui having a meal together at home.

The series ends with the family photo. The photo replaces the family photo with Sang Ho, implying they must move on from the past and become a loving family again. Unfortunately, the final episode does not give any closure to Seon Hui’s relationship with Hyeon-U or Su Yeon. Seon Hui’s family can live in peace now as Hyeon Min is dead.

Seon Hui’s character is poorly written and executed. As the main character, we don’t see a good character arc. The character is just flat. In the story, we don’t know how the detectives investigated Hyeon Min’s death, considering Jin Hyeok, Eun Ju, and Seon Hui are alive. Su Yeon serves time in prison for killing Gyeong Ho. Su Yeon’s character gets a good ending as she transforms herself during her time in prison. Now that she is out, she is no longer vengeful.
