In episodes 9 and 10 of “Queen of Tears,” we see Hong’s family and Hyun-woo’s family bond. Hyun-woo’s family is helping them out as much as they can. Eun-seong and Seul Hee have disagreements, which causes distance between them. Eun-seong finds Hae-in’s weakness and uses it to get what he wants. He also risks Hyun-woo’s job by falsely accusing him of something. Hyun-woo and Hae-in find ways to support each other by carrying the other’s burden. Beom-ja gets a lead, taking her detective friend’s help.

Queen of Tears Episode 9 Recap:
The episode begins with the Hong family getting home only to find protesters. Grace calls Seon Hwa and asks her to take the back entrance. Grace is talking to reporters, and she wants the news headlines to be about Hong’s family being dirt poor. The Hong family reaches the back entrance, and Grace asks them to leave. She tells them she can’t let them in, but Beom-ja throws a fit. Grace’s true colors come out, and she is rude and disrespectful to the family. She shoves their luggage and asks them to get lost. The reporters try to capture a picture, but Hyun-woo blocks them and asks the Hong family to get in.
Hyun-woo takes them to his hometown, Yongdu-ri. There, his sister bad-mouths Hae-in, and she gets out. The entire family comes out, and Du-gwan and his family are confused to see Hong’s family. Seon Hwa’s ego is hurt, and she throws a fit, saying she will be leaving for Seoul. She steps on cow dung and begins to weep because of the situation. Mi-Seon cleans her shoes and realizes they are costly. Mi-Seon does not bother about it and asks her to throw them away.
Bong-ae (Hyun-woo’s mother) makes dinner for everyone. Beom Jun tastes the meal and finds it delicious. Soo-cheol cannot grasp the situation and asks for bottled water from the Alps. Beom Jun doesn’t understand the problem. Hae-in hits Soo-cheol and asks him to drink water from a kettle. Hyun-woo tells the family that Hae-in does not hit him. Mi-seon and her brother clean the dishes while bad-mouthing Hae-in.
Hae-in walks in, asking if she can help, and they refuse. Mi-Seon tries to find out if she and Hyun-woo are possibly getting back together, but Hae-in asks them not to misunderstand anything. Hyun-woo gives Soo-cheol a towel, and Soo-cheol breaks down when he misses Da-hye and Gun-woo. Hae-in apologizes to Hyun-woo for troubling him and his family, but he tells her he will stop worrying about her after she gets better. She says she is working hard on it so they can be like normal divorced couples after she gets better.
Eun-seong is mad at Seul Hee for separating him from Hae-in. He lets her know, just like she abandoned him as a child and didn’t bother to find out if he was okay, he will prioritize Hae-in over her. Seon-hwa is worried about Soo-cheol at night as he cries and has never slept on a hardwood floor before. Beom Jun tells her that he is also from a wealthy family, and it is his first time sleeping on wood flooring. Beom-ja tries to seek comfort from her older brother and breaks down. She feels guilty about Man Dae’s health condition.
The old lady from the village who has dementia consoles Beom-ja. Her son calls out to her, but the lady asks Beom-ja to pretend to be her daughter. Beom-ja puts on a great show, but the son lures his mother by tempting her to watch her soap opera. Hyun-woo and Hae-in text each other from different rooms, and they seem to want to say something but try to act cold. Hae-in listens to music from his MP3, realizes it is hers, and remembers him after they met on her last day in school.
Hyun-woo comes running in when Hae-in calls the owner of the MP3 pretty. Hyun-woo does not remember that it is Hae-in. Bong-ae is making Japchae, and Hae-in offers to help, but seeing Bong-ae, he thinks she has superpowers. Seon-hwa sees them bond and is jealous. Mi-Seon gives Seon-hwa her footwear, but Soen-hwa asks her to keep it. Mi-Seon offers to style her hair in return. Mi-seon’s friends start bad-mouthing Seon-Hwa at the salon, only to realize she is the customer.
Hyun-woo meets Eun-seong, pays him respect as the new Chairman, and asks him to find another job for one month. He also tells her he does not know where Hae-in is. Hyun-woo meets with the protestors and finds out Eun-seong has used a double contract trick to gain money. Grace thinks she can take Hae-in’s position, but Seul-Hee and Eun-seong refuse and are upset. Hyun-woo confronts the tech company owner, gets the footage, and sees Da-hye on the hunting ground.
Soo-cheol is crying while reading Da-hye’s letter, in which she reveals who she is, how she used to bully him as a child, and how, as an adult, he failed to recognize her. She also reveals that Gun-woo is not his son. Hyun-woo tells Yang-gi that he will file a lawsuit for investment fraud and use the same tactics Eun-seong used to trap him. Hyun-woo’s previous assistant tells Eun-seong there is no abnormality in Hae-in’s former secretary or in Hyun-woo.
Beom Jun drinks with Du-gwan and expresses how broke he is, and his closest friend refuses to help. Hae-in has an episode and faints. Bong-ae tells her to rest and visit a hospital in Seoul the next day, and she agrees. Seon-Hwa is having difficulty and is not compassionate towards Hae-in. Beom-ja desperately warns her not to regret her actions later. Hyun-woo comes home in a hurry to check on Hae-in, and she asks what he is up to. Subsequently, he realizes that she has been in touch with her secretary.
Hyun-woo tells Hae-in that he will put the broker who did the fraud on the no-fly list. Eun-seong finds a card from a hospital, checks her medical history, and realizes she has a tumor. He is heartbroken. He barges into the doctor’s office and demands to know what he can do to save her, but the doctor refuses to say anything as he isn’t her family or guardian. Hae-in goes for treatment, and Hyun-woo hears from the doctor about Eun-seong’s visit and informs Ha-in.
Eun-seong meets Seul Hee, and they fight about Hae-in again. Seul Hee reminds him that she owns quite a bit of the share, and keeping Man Dae alive is essential. Eun-seong discreetly moves Man Dae, and one of his fingers moves in the ambulance. Hyun-woo gets a warning message from the broker to take him off the no-fly list. The broker follows Hyun-woo and stops him with a car full of thugs. Hae-in calls Hyun-woo and takes a walk. She hears the phone ringing and assumes it is Hyun-woo, but it turns out to be Eun-seong.
Hyun-woo fights the thugs the broker brought with him on a street somewhere. In the epilogue, we see Hyun-woo telling Yang-gi about the conversation with Hae-in about the MP3. He is impressed, as Hae-in is sharp enough to realize it is a girl’s MP3. Hyun-woo calls her pretty and says he can recognize her instantly. He also wonders where she is and what she is up to.
Queen of Tears Episode 10 Recap:
The episode begins with Soo-cheol looking for Wi-Fi and finding it in Queen’s boxing building. The boxing teacher tells Soo-cheol that Hyun-woo used to box when he was a child and always won. He used his mind when he used to box and always attacked his opponent. Hyun-woo fights the thugs and manages to catch the broker and give him the lawsuit he has filed. Hae-in is slightly scared and upset to see Eun-seong.
Eun-seong asks her to come and take her position as the CEO of the department store, which is rightfully hers. She does not accept it, but he threatens her by reminding her that her family does not know about her illness. He gives her two days’ time to get back to work. Soo-cheol sees him and is about to attack, but she slips and falls on the street. Hae-in asks him not to reveal to anybody that Eun-seong has visited.
Eun-seong calls Da-hye to confirm she has deleted all contact information from Korea and asks her to stay low for the time being. She assures him by saying she is moving around with a false identity. She asks about Soo-cheol, and Eun-seong, sensing some lingering feelings, lies to her, saying if Soo-cheol finds her, he will make her pay, and she should make sure she does not come in contact with him. Da-Hye is happy that he has matured.
Hae-in sees Hyun-woo coming late and bruised. She starts removing his shirt, worried about his bruises. He cannot understand the gesture, but she treats his wounds affectionately. She asks him to promise not to do anything for her anymore and never get beaten up. They make a promise. At breakfast, Soo-cheol says he slipped and fell the previous night, and that’s the reason for his wounds. Hyun-woo comes to breakfast and gives the same reason. Du-gwan asks if they got into a fight, and Soo-cheol immediately says he wouldn’t dare to do so as he is a boxer.
Du-gwan brags about his son, saying he is always good at everything, from sports to studies. Hyun-woo is leaving for work, and Soo-cheol attempts to tell Hyun-woo about Eun-seong, but Hae-in interrupts. She sees he has not taken care of his bruises and puts a bandage on them. He leaves for work late and spends some time wondering if things would have been different if they had fixed their issues immediately and if they had been still together. Hyun-woo confesses that he regrets not asking her about the little details.
At work, Hyun-woo gets an email that he is going to be reassigned and removed from his post for malpractice. Hyun-woo asks Eun-seong if he has proof, and he responds by saying there will be a meeting and that he can find out then. He also mentions meeting Hae-in. Hyun-woo tells him about Mr. Pyeon’s (broker) arrest, and Eun-seong is taken aback. Seul Hee takes Grace’s help to find Man Dae and offers her the CEO position. Grace takes the help of her crew to call hospitals and find out about Man Dae.
Beom-ja meets Young Song (the dementia grandmother’s son), who advises her to eat meat instead of crying when things are difficult. Beom-ja learns about Man Dae’s move from her detective friend. It is Du-gwan’s last day as village head, and he is upset because he lost the contest. Soo-cheol sees Ho Yeol playing a game and remembers spending time playing it with Da-hye. He checks his phone, and her account is still active. He hugs Ho Yeol and thanks him.
Hyun-woo and Yang-gi visit Grace and tell her she should be behind bars for breaking up couples and luring them with other people. They also tell her about her illegal business. She tries to strike a deal with them when Beom-ja hits her on the head and asks her to turn the tables. They take her to the detective and collaborate to find Man Dae. Mi-seon tries to bring her village friends and Seon Hwa together. They apologize but tell Seon Hwa they will see each other for a long time.
Seon-hwa is craving coffee but does not have money to pay for it. Bong-ae happens to come to the coffee shop to buy drinks, and she pays for Seon-hwa. Bong-ae tells Seon-hwa her favor comes at a cost, takes her to the orchard farm, and does her work. She gets paid for the day’s work. Secretary Na visits Hae-in, and in between the conversation, Hae-in refers to Bong-ae as her mother-in-law. Secretary Na asks if the divorce is fake. She also informs her about the malpractice accusation against Hyun-woo.
Hae-in asks Eun-seong about it and shamelessly tells her he is thinking about how to frame Hyun-woo for the malpractice. Mi-seon finds Hyun-woo and tells her about Eun-seong’s visit. She also asks if something is happening between Hae-in and Eun-seong, and Hyun-woo gets annoyed. At dinner, Seon-Hwa eats a lot, and Beom Jun brings her sleeping pills but is surprised to see her fast asleep. Beom Jun and Du-gwan bond over losing their positions. They drink and watch soap operas.
Hyun-woo takes Hae-in for a walk and asks about Eun-seong’s visit. She tells him about his offer and that she is thinking about it. Bong-ae comes home and finds leaves leading to Hae-in’s room. She overhears Hae-in talking to her doctor about the tumor. She asks Hyun-woo about it, and he breaks down and tells her everything. He asks her to look after Hae-in when he isn’t around and promises to keep it a secret. Bong-ae breaks down as well.
Du-gwan finds her crying and assumes it is because of his removal as the village head. Bong-ae has prepared a feast for breakfast. She gives Hae-in a lot of meat. The family is informed that Beom-ja is in Seoul for some work. Soo-cheol sees Da-hye has come online and messages her. She is about to block him but sees his message about Gun-woo. He reminds her about the medication and what rhyme to sing to make him feel better. Seeing the message, Da-hye breaks down and logs out.
Hae-in leaves for Seoul, and her mother stops her and accuses her of planning the whole thing with Eun-seong. She tries to stop her from leaving, but Bong-ae, who is driving a truck, senses tension. She pulls the vehicle in between them and gives Hae-in a ride. Bong-ae is trying hard to control her tears, and Hae-in thanks her for everything. Grace manages to find the hospital Man Dae is in. Hae-in is preparing to take office. Hyun-woo gets to know about it from Secretary Na.
He tries to stop and ask her if this is her solution, and she coldly replies. It is also the day Eun-seong will be announced as the Chairman and the person giving them instructions about announcing his wedding. Hae-in asks Eun-seong to keep up his end of the bargain. Grace lies to Seul Hee and says she hasn’t found Man Dae. Seul Hee is walking with her men in a building. A nurse leaves Man Dae unattended, and he opens his eyes. It is time for the announcement, and Eun-seong announces that he will appoint Hae-in as the CEO and rubs off any rumors about his involvement in Hong’s family’s downfall.
Queen of Tears Episode 10 Ending Explained:
Will Hae-in save Hyun-woo’s job and reputation?
Hae-in is asked to speak, and she tells the press that she will not take the CEO role because she has little time to live. Eun-seong threatens her, but she is willing to play the recording for them. She also mentions that Eun-seong would accuse her husband, Hyun-woo, and remove him from his post. Hae-in and Hyun-woo lock eyes. Eun-seong is scared and shocked by her revelation.
In the epilogue, we see the time Hyun-woo saves Hae-in at an office party. Hae-in pretends to be an intern, and she tells Hyun-woo never to drink and to be cute in front of other girls. In another flashback, we see Hyun-woo drinking and talking to Young Song, asking if Hae-in still feels the same. In the drunk state, he starts plucking leaves to see if Hae-in loves her. He reaches her door and says he loves Hae-in as Hae-in listens to it from the other side of the room.
In the last two episodes, it felt like Eun-seong was winning again, but Hae-in pulled a fast one on him. He is unprepared, and he will surely retaliate in the next episode. Grace is on Hong’s family’s side for now, and with her help, they can take down Eun-seong and Seul Hee. Man Dae wakes up, and hopefully, Beom-ja and Grace can sneak him out of the hospital and plan the next course of action. It is also possible that Seul Hee has followed Grace to the hospital, but there can be a hurdle. Man Dae may sneak out on his own.
Da-hye has some feelings for Soo-cheol, and she might play a key role in seeking revenge. The last scene surely means Hae-in and Hyun-woo confessed their love for each other in unique ways and may unite. There is a distance between Seul Hee and Eun-seong that may be a weakness to tap into. Bong-ae finds a unique way for Seon Hwa to earn money and help without hurting her ego.
