Netflix’s Roommates dropped on April 17, 2026, and the cast alone is worth talking about. Directed by Chandler Levack and produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions, the film follows two college freshmen who go from best friends to passive-aggressive enemies over one very messy semester. Here is everyone in the film and what you need to know about them.
Sadie Sandler as Devon Weisz
Sadie leads the film as Devon, a shy freshman from Montclair, New Jersey studying architectural design. She is Adam Sandler’s eldest daughter, which makes her one of the more prominent nepo babies in the cast. She has been appearing in Happy Madison films since she was a toddler, with credits going back to Grown Ups, Hotel Transylvania, and You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah in 2023, which was the role that really put her on the map.
She is currently studying at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, which makes playing a college freshman feel pretty on the nose. Speaking about the film, she said “every character in the film is dealing with a certain type of loneliness, and finding your place.”

Chloe East as Celeste Durand
Chloe plays Celeste, Devon’s confident, kombucha-drinking roommate from Stamford, Connecticut who hides the truth about her wealthy background. Unlike most of her co-stars in this film, Chloe is not a nepo baby. She began dancing at age two, modeling at nine, and made her TV debut on HBO’s True Blood at eleven.
She built her career steadily through roles on Liv and Maddie, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, and Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans in 2022. Her 2024 performance in the A24 horror film Heretic opposite Hugh Grant is widely considered her best work yet. Roommates is her biggest mainstream role to date.
Natasha Lyonne as Hannah Weisz
Natasha plays Devon’s mother, an overly affectionate ceramicist who worries constantly about her daughter’s love life. She is one of the most recognisable names in the film, best known for Orange is the New Black and her Emmy-nominated turn in Russian Doll, which she also created. Most recently, she has been playing detective Charlie Cale in Poker Face on Peacock.
Nick Kroll as Brian Weisz
Nick plays Devon’s easy-going father, the practical counterpart to Natasha Lyonne’s anxious Hannah. He is best known for The League, his animated Netflix series Big Mouth, and voice roles in Sausage Party and Sing.
Sarah Sherman as Dr. Robyn Schilling
Sarah plays the Dean of Student Life at Walton University, who narrates the story of Devon and Celeste to a new pair of feuding roommates. She is an SNL cast member since 2021, known for her absurdist comedy style.
The Nepo Baby Lineup
Roommates might quietly hold the record for most celebrity children in a single film. Bella Murphy, daughter of Eddie Murphy, plays Amber, Devon’s neighbour across the hall. Eddie had a strict family rule that his children could not work in the entertainment industry until they turned 18, though he made an exception for Bella when she appeared alongside him in Coming 2 America in 2021. Roommates is her most prominent role since.
Jaya Harper, who plays Olivia, is the daughter of Oscar-winning actress Laura Dern and Grammy-winning musician Ben Harper. The acting lineage in her family runs deep, as Laura Dern’s own parents are actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd. Jaya is still early in her career, with this being only her second film credit.
Zahra Rock, daughter of Chris Rock, makes her film debut here. She said on Instagram after the premiere that she “genuinely couldn’t have imagined a better first movie to be a part of.” At the film’s premiere at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, and Chris Rock all showed up together on the red carpet to support their daughters, which naturally became its own story. The Rest of the Cast
Aidan Langford plays Alex, Devon’s closeted younger brother who comes out during the film. Storm Reid, best known for Euphoria and The Last of Us, plays Luna, a freshman in her own roommate dispute. Billy Bryk plays Michael, Devon’s architecture TA and love interest. Steve Buscemi plays Celeste’s father, who claims to be a janitor but drives a Land Rover with the number plate “PAPRCLPZ” and is secretly the CEO of Staples. Megan Thee Stallion appears as Louise, and Martin Herlihy plays George, a man who keeps enrolling in college just to play ultimate frisbee.
Roommates is now streaming on Netflix.
