School Spirits (Season 1) Episode 7: In the latest episode of School Spirits, the plot thickens as more revelations about the mysterious disappearance of Maddie are uncovered. The focus of suspicion now seems to be on Nicole, but as new details emerge, the tension and suspense reach new heights, making it a truly gripping viewing experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

School Spirits (Season 1) Episode 7 Recap:

In the opening scene, Nicole appears visibly anxious as she rushes to complete her portfolio in the school lab. Simon enters and asks her why she didn’t choose to go to school with him. Nicole explains that she was preoccupied with finishing her project, so Simon queries her about her whereabouts over the weekend and why she didn’t respond to his texts. Nicole avoids answering the question by repeating her response.

Simon goes on to mention that the discovery of a weapon has caused distraction among their group, and he expresses his belief that Mr. South has been falsely implicated, citing his opinion that he is a simple man. However, he expresses suspicion about Sandra’s possible involvement in Maddie’s disappearance or death. At this point, Simon notices Nicole’s portfolio, and he is taken aback by the fact that it contains several intense close-up photographs of Maddie.

During an afterlife group meeting, Mr. Martin attempts to explain the concept of a mock trial, but Maddie is livid that Mr. South is being charged with her murder, and she cannot aid him in any way. She is also frustrated that her repressed memories have yet to resurface, leaving her with no answers. Rhonda suggests that this is likely due to her brain’s trauma response, which Maddie vehemently rejects.

However, Wally offers reassurance by citing a psychology book he discovered in the school library, stating that he will try to assist her. Meanwhile, Nicole places some of Maddie’s photographs into a burner and sets them on fire. Is she attempting to erase something that haunts her?

Wally, Charley, and Rhonda try to employ the psychology book’s theory of triggering smell and taste associations, but their efforts prove ineffective on Maddie. Rhonda then suggests that Maddie try to recall the last song she can remember hearing.

Simon, Xavier, Claire, and Nicole are gathered in the school cafeteria, discussing ways to exonerate Mr. South from being falsely accused of Maddie’s murder. Nicole is still upset about something and directs her anger towards Claire, accusing her of fake concern for Maddie’s murder so that she can protect herself. They contemplate breaking into the evidence room at the sheriff’s office. Nicole dissents from the idea, while the others agree to proceed to the police station to carry out the plan.

Meanwhile, Maddie undergoes music therapy, which proves to be ineffective. Charley suggests hypnosis as an alternative, but Dawn, who has overheard their conversation, strongly advises against it, citing the risk of delusion and difficulty in returning from the hypnotic state. Instead, she proposes an anti-seance that treats memories as spirits, summoning them for the host.

Simon’s Northwestern University interview goes poorly, and Maddie observes his behavior, unable to comprehend why he seems to be doing it intentionally. Meanwhile, Claire breaks one of her car windows and plans with Xavier and Simon to report it to the police, claiming it was the work of a stalker. Their plan is to divert the officer’s attention to the report while Simon and Xavier search for evidence.

At the campus computer lab, Nicole appears visibly anxious as the computer she needs is unavailable. At the police station, Simon and Xavier obtain the keys to the evidence room, and Claire keeps the sheriff engaged. However, the sheriff’s subordinate interrupts, informing him that Sandra believes someone broke into her house while she was asleep.

Simon makes a discovery that the boot prints found in the forest by Nicole were actually not Maddie’s and asks Xavier if he was with Nicole when she found them. Xavier denies it, saying that they had split up when she got to the prints.

Meanwhile, Nicole bullies a student using a computer she wants to use and asks the lab in charge if deleting a file from the system means permanent deletion. Mr. Balkin (the lab in charge) informs her that nothing is ever permanently deleted because all systems are auto-saved every three minutes. This response worries Nicole for some reason.

On their way back from the police station, Maddie confronts Simon about why he blew up his important interview. Simon explains that he has no intentions of attending college without Maddie because they had made plans to go there together. He then changes the subject to Nicole being a prominent suspect in relation to Maddie’s disappearance/death. Maddie initially doesn’t believe him, but Simon reminds her of the time when they both caught Nicole for copying Maddie.

At the gas station, Mr. South confronts Sandra and denies any involvement in Maddie’s disappearance in spite of the situation not being in his favor. Sandra treies to get away by almost crushing him with her car.

Meanwhile, Mr. Martin shows his anger for the first time at school, indicating that he has been manipulating Rhonda by promising her a path to crossover in exchange for keeping an eye on Maddie. Charley overhears their conversation as he enters the room to call Rhonda for the séance and is surprised to see Rhonda so vulnerable.

During the séance, Dawn attempts to take them back to her last day at school before her death. At the same time, Xavier and Claire break into the janitor’s room and check his schedule. The schedule confirms Mr. South’s innocence, but Claire also looks at who was present during the time the leaked video was. All evidence points to Nicole, as she was also there that day.

During the seance, Dawn tries to recall the painful memory that led to her death. She reveals that her two best friends had made fun of her and called her a loser. Dawn had overheard their conversation and felt hurt before her tragic end. Overcome with emotions, the group decides to end the seance.

Simon finally confesses his love for Maddie and explains that it’s the only reason he doesn’t want to attend college. Maddie advises him to move on from the idea of being stuck with her because, after graduation, they may not be in the same place.

The show’s main themes begin to emerge, and Sheriff Baxter confronts Xavier about their little intrusion at the police station. Baxter tries to intimidate Xavier by calling him a loser, but Claire intervenes and questions Baxter’s integrity, calling him out for being a bully.

School Spirits (Season 1), Episode 7 Ending, Explained:

Did Nicole hurt Maddie?

Simon and Maddie arrive at the computer lab and find Nicole attempting to delete videos. Simon confronts Nicole about hurting Maddie and withholding important information, such as taking the video, blackmailing Mr. Anderson, planting Maddie’s bootprints, and keeping the money for herself.

Eventually, Nicole confesses to everything and reveals that she did it all to obtain money to attend art school in Chicago and be closer to Simon and Maddie. She admits that she lied about being rejected from schools because she didn’t want them to think any less of her.

How does Maddie help Dawn cross over?

As Maddie heads over to the locker, Dawn expresses her regret for not being able to assist Maddie with her memories. Maddie reassures Dawn that she did her best and is grateful for her efforts. Maddie also tells her that she was a good friend to her and did not deserve to be treated like a loser by her former friends.

Soon after, Wally, Rhonda, and Charley notice flickering lights and feel goosebumps on their skin. Unable to find Dawn at her usual spot, they come to a realization that she might have crossed over.

Do Nicole and Simon find the money? Who is responsible for Maddie’s death?

Nicole and Simon dig at the spot where she claimed to have hidden the money, but they can’t find it. Simon asks if anyone else saw her hide the money and Nicole tells him that she came to hide the money after visiting Sandra’s house after the dance.

In the meantime, Maddie watches from a distance and has visions of her fight with Sandra.

The ending of Episode 7 of School Spirits finds Simon going after the sound of someone snooping around the woods, with the open possibility that Sandra may have killed her own daughter for the money. The reasons can be speculated to be her drinking problems but to find the truth, we will have to wait for next week’s episode.
