Steven Spielberg’s latest A24 project comes with a twist
According to Deadline, Steven Spielberg is now set to adapt The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store in collaboration with the popular indie distributor A24. The project involves A24 and Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment. According to inside sources, the project is in the very early development phase, with Spielberg confirmed as the producer, but no details have been provided regarding who will helm the film.
A24 has gained considerable fame and mainstream popularity since its inception in 2012. Two of their movies, Moonlight and Everything Everywhere All at Once, have gone on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards. The start of this year has already been successful for the distributor, as they have set records with the Alex Garland movie Civil War. Now, their upcoming novel adaptation film is a significant project for the distributor. The A24’s collaboration with a renowned Hollywood veteran as big as Spielberg is huge news for A24, as it represents the distributor’s continued growth and rise to fame.
Apart from this project with A24, Spielberg will return to his Close Encounters of the Third Kind roots and direct an original sci-fi movie. As per the little details revealed about this project, it is thought to be centered around UFOs.
While his role as director in The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store adaptation is uncertain for now, there are other projects that will be made under the directorial vision of Spielberg, including an untitled project starring Bradley Cooper.
In addition to his full slate of directing work, Spielberg is also set to produce and executive produce several projects. This year alone, the filmmaker is involved in major films like Twisters and Transformers: One. He is also slated to produce Jurassic World 4 in 2025 and another Adventures of Tintin movie.
Given Spielberg’s Hollywood status and busy schedule, his involvement with A24 is quite an achievement.
