Stranger Things Emmy 2023: Stranger Things is known for many reasons. It is a breakthrough science fiction horror series from Netflix that gave us several endearing moments of friendship. It is also a fantastical journey through their lives that keeps its fans waiting for every new season. The characters became parts of everyone’s lives, and so did the actors.

Who are the acting stars from Stranger Things?

Millie Bobby Brown rose to fame with her role, Eleven, which paved the way for her acting career. She was later seen in popular movies such as Enola Holmes and Godzilla vs. King. Finn Wolfhard became a star in the horror film – It, whereas Joseph Quinn is set for the Gladiator sequel. Sadie Sink also starred in the multiple-Oscar-nominated The Whale. She gave a brilliant performance as a teenage daughter to Brendan Fraser’s apologetic father’s character.

Besides them, there are, of course, other excellent acting talents in the cast, which consists of Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery, Haten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Scnapp, and others.

So the question remains – why are all these actors not even considered for the 2023 Emmy nomination race? Didn’t they notice Joseph Quinn’s throbbing performance as the metalhead Eddie Munson? And how could they forget levitating Sadie Sink’s devastating performance? Jim Hopper was also alive. Why isn’t David Harbour not considered for the nominations, either? Here’s why.

Why is Dacre Montgomery the only acting nod submission from Stranger Things?

Dacre Montgomery plays Max’s late stepbrother, Billy, who was killed in Season 4. He appears for a brief period in the episode titled ‘The Piggyback.’ The 28-year-old actor finds a spot in the Emmy acting nod submissions. It is because of the new Emmy rules of submission related to the time of the release of its two-part fourth season. His performance is being submitted for the Guest Actor category.

What are the new Emmy rules of nomination submissions, and how does that impact Stranger Things?

It allows a series that premieres current-season episodes after the eligibility deadline of May 31, although before the beginning of the nomination round-voting. Season four of Stranger Things dropped seven episodes from Volume 1 on May 27, 2022. That Volume competed in 2022, received about thirteen nominations, and won five.

The Volume 2 episodes came on Netflix around the beginning of this year’s eligibility period, i.e., June 1, 2022. It includes two giant episodes that received quite a buzz at the time – ‘Chapter Eight: Papa’ and ‘Chapter Nine: The Piggyback.’ Unfortunately, according to the new Emmy submission rules, they are considered orphan episodes, which prevents the popular series to propose its talent for the drama series category.

Who will Dacre Montgomery feel competing for the nomination (and the win)?

This year, the Stranger Things star will have heavy competition from other buzzy shows from this and the last year. Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey starrer ‘The Last of Us’ has acting heavyweights and much-talked-about performances of Nick Offerman and Murray Bartlett, besides Lamar Johnson and Gabriel Juna.

Dacre also has to compete with the big names from Better Call Saul’s last season, such as Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Michael McKean, Tony Dalton, and Mark Margolis. The HBO chart-busting series Succession has also submitted Arian Moayed and James Cromwell’s names for the category.

So, it’s fair to say – Dacre Montgomery has some serious competition for that nod. Still, as big fans of the Duffer brothers’ fascinating world, let’s hope he gets nominated.
