American Music composer Michael Abels has composed the original music for the soundtrack of the satirical comedy The American Society of Magical Negroes. Michael Abels has previously worked with Jordon Peele on all of his projects, and he has composed music for The Burial, Bad Education, and Landscape with Invisible Hand as well. Back Lot Music released the soundtrack album digitally on March 15th, and it is available to listen to on digital platforms like Apple Music, YouTube, and Spotify.
The American Society of Magical Negroes is written and directed by Kobi Libii and stars Justice Smith, who was last seen in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, David Alan Grier, An-Li Bogan and Michaela Watkins. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and has now made its way to theaters across the country. Brought to viewers by Focus Features, this movie tells the story of a young man, portrayed by Justice Smith, who becomes part of a covert society. This group, composed of African Americans with mystical abilities, is humorously dedicated to the mission of improving the lives of white individuals, offering a satirical take on the well-known Magical Negro cliché.
