The Mosquito Coast (Season 2 Finale), Episode 10: With a stubborn idealist Allie Fox at its center, The Mosquito Coast presents the effects of narcissistic impulses gone unchecked. Starring Justin Theroux, Melissa George, Logan Polish, and Gabriel Bateman, it makes the family-on-the-run narrative go through unexpected junctures. The adventure tale has now reached the point where the family is losing their faith in each other for their safety, security, and well-being. While Dinaโs escape from the rainforest is the key factor for their momentary distress, the larger ideological conflicts impact their family.
With Allie being increasingly possessive about his algorithm, a ticking bomb of danger was set to be blown or detonated soon after.
The Mosquito Coast (Season 2 Finale), Episode 10 Recap:
Episode 10: Eulogy
After Silviaโs (Claudia Pineda) death, the community in Casa Roja goes into mourning. Everyone reminisces about the good she has done for them and how she provided them with a better living. Isela (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) reads out a eulogy for her. They all get emotional thinking about this brave warrior of a person who fought for them and hoped for a better world. While that happens in the rainforest, Allie (Justin Theroux) heads toward Dinaโs (Logan Polish) current location in the luxury resort. While he is on his way to bring her back with Charlie (Gabriel Bateman), He calls Margot (Melissa George) to tell her about her (Dina) plan of getting out.
They enter the resort, and Allie goes to meet her. Looks like she missed her father which is why she hugs him once she sees him. He apologizes for his past behaviour and then they get out of the lobby together. By then, she realizes that there is no life for her out of the rainforest. She wants to go home, but since she does not have a specific place that she can call her home, she is stuck with her family. So, she asks him for a solution to her confusion. He cannot offer one, and she cannot think of any option right away, either. But she asks to support her in whatever she thinks to do in the future.
Soon after, Margot comes to the resort and tells Dina about failing in her plan of rescue. She apologizes to this daughter for feeling that she cannot depend on them (her parents) for that kind of support. Meanwhile, Bautistaโs men start bringing armory to the building. Richard guides them about what needs to be done. The Fox family sits in the food court, listening to Allieโs plan about a piece of sanctuary land they own, and building it as their new home by themselves with people from Casa Roja. It will be called โthe Mosquito Coast.โ
Margot gets enraged by this plan since it would essentially make them stay on the same land. She rather wishes to go back to the US and not proceed with his plan, which he pretends to be selflessly virtuous but is rather seeped into his selfish intentions. He is persistent on not going back to their native country, where he considers they will be prisoners no matter where they stay. Even if Charlie tries to stop them from arguing, they are so caught up in their emotions to pay attention to his requests.
Finally, he erupts with a burst of anger and notes how both of them have been using them as their luggage that they can carry around as they please. He is tired of them being constantly considered puppets for their whims. He also opens up about lying for so long about Margot being behind them being on the run instead of Charlie. Then she gets emotional and tells why she kept stalling to reveal it.
Meanwhile, Andrea Bautista (Cosima Cabrera) and her father โ Rafael (Fernando Larraรฑaga), enter the resort for a meeting with Carter Albrecht (Reed Diamond) about their upcoming construction project for Virid. Margot notices them entering the elevator and going to the third floor. She tells Allie about these developers, and then they go out to find Guillermoโs (Daniel Raymont) men working with Richard, engaged in an operation. They head toward the room of meeting between the Bautistas, Carter, and their investors.
Meanwhile, Charlie notices Richard being in the resort, and he and Dina follow him to learn what he is up to. He sees these men all the way, and then Richard follows them. Charlie approaches him and calls out his hypocrisy since he is engaged in the act of terrorism. Unable to shut his mouth, Richard takes him along. Dina runs out and tells her parents about this, and they all rush to find and rescue Charlie. By that time, Richard speaks to these wealthy people about them using their money to harm the biodiversity of their land.
Soon after, Guillermo enters the room with William (Ian Hart) and threatens them to read out a document stating guilt for their harmful actions in the past. Then he makes them sign a document giving him ownership of the land that they own. By that time, Allie manages to enter the room to rescue Charlie. Since Richard refuses to give Guillermo the detonator, William goes on to shoot him. Allie drops a bomb to create a distraction and escorts Charlie out.
While on his way out, Allie sees a bag full of cash & a detonator, which he decides to take with him. Charlie manages to run away, but William shoots Allie right in the chest. As a way of retaliation, Alli detonates a bomb that destroys the entire floor they are on, including him and William. While the Fox family runs and manages to escape safely, the family patriarch gets killed in the fire.
