The previous episode of The Night Manager season 2 closed with all the cards laid on the table and almost no safety left for Jonathan Pine. Jonathan’s true identity had been exposed to Richard Roper, and every spy network that mattered now knew who he really was. Roxana had made a shocking choice to walk back into Roper’s world, possibly betraying Jonathan or maybe playing a deeper game. Basil was captured and later killed after refusing to give up Jonathan’s secrets. Teddy, Roper’s son, had quietly chosen a side by sending Jonathan critical details about a weapons flight. Meanwhile, Jonathan’s meeting with Roper ended in a stand-off, where Roper offered him money to walk away and Jonathan refused.

This set up a finale in which both men were fully aware of the danger they posed to one another, and the network around Roper had grown more ruthless, with Mayra digging in and global pressure rising. The Night Manager (Season 2 Finale) Episode 6 marks the peak of tension in this season. It brings long-standing plans into motion and tests fragile alliances. Jonathan and Teddy put together a risky plan to stop an arms shipment that could ignite a massive conflict, while Roper is determined to outsmart them at every turn. Meanwhile, Angela Burr returns with evidence that could bring powerful players down, and every decision Jonathan has made catches up with him. The question now becomes whether Jonathan can end this mission without losing everything, or whether his enemies will have the final word.

The Night Manager (Season 2 Finale) Episode 6 Recap:

Does Jonathan truly have allies now?

Episode 6 begins with the arms shipment situation finally unfolding. The weapons flight, which could fuel a civil war in Colombia, is ready to take off for a rebel camp. Teddy, who has grown wary of his father and the network Roper has built, secretly double-crosses Roper and gives Jonathan all the details about the shipment, including photos of the aircraft that will carry it. This puts Pine and Sally in a position to try and reroute the plane to a different landing zone, one where they can seize the weapons before they reach the rebels.

Sally tries to mobilize support by contacting law enforcement and Basil, hoping to get a tactical team on the ground in Colombia. Unfortunately, Basil is gone, and Angela Burr is the one who answers the call. Angela, who has been operating in the background after leaving MI6, realizes that the mission has evolved far beyond what Jonathan initially intended. She reconnects with Sandy Langbourne in London — someone with past ties to Mayra and Roper — and begins to put together evidence on both Mayra and Roper, threatening their future.

Back with Jonathan and Martín Alvarez, they begin tracking the rerouted plane. Just as they start to gain traction, Jonathan gets a call from Roxana telling him that Roper’s men have found her. She claims she escaped from a bus and needs to be picked up, but it is clearly a trap. Jonathan and Martín head to the location, expecting a simple pickup, but immediately sense danger. Roper watches on CCTV as Roxana walks through the lot, lying in wait to lure Jonathan into a dangerous situation.

Is this a trap or chance for escape?

Despite Roxana’s attempt to trick Jonathan into revealing his location, he outsmarts her and escapes after Roper’s gunmen shoot up a car in pursuit. It becomes clear that Roper wants Jonathan dead and is willing to use anyone connected to him as bait. In Colombia, Teddy is left waiting at a rendezvous point with Juan. Tension rises between them. Juan, unhappy with how things are being handled and unsure of Teddy’s decisions, wants proof about the weapons drop. A fight breaks out, and Teddy kills Juan in the struggle, making it clear there is no turning back for him in terms of picking a side.

Mayra, still in contact with Roper, signals that she wants thousands of things to stop until Jonathan is no longer a threat. Roper rejects this. He states he will go head-to-head with anyone who tries to stop him, including Mayra, who ordered the killing of Rex Mayhew at the beginning of the season. Roper doesn’t intend to back down, even if the price is everything he has built falling apart.

Meanwhile, back at the compound where Roxana had been, Roper is suspicious of her loyalty. He does not trust that she has truly flipped or become an ally of Jonathan. Even though Roxana had tried to reach out to Pine earlier, Roper believes she may be playing both sides, and he treats her with caution. That uncertainty marks her as someone who might be used or discarded at any moment.

Can Jonathan persuade the rebels?

In the remote jungle camp of the rebel group, Teddy pretends that Jonathan is his prisoner to gain credibility. He presents evidence — including manipulated recordings of Roper and Jonathan plotting against the rebels — to convince them that Roper has betrayed them. The rebels capture and interrogate Jonathan. Teddy escalates the situation by torturing him for information, even though there is no real guarantee the rebels will listen or believe their story. Jonathan tells the rebels that forces are coming this very night to take down the rebels and their arms. Teddy’s actions are desperate, but for the moment, they seem to be convincing enough to buy some time.

At the same time, Sally finally gets the Supreme Court justice, Consuelo Arbenz, to a secure location and mobilizes a legal team that could intercept the action and enforce confiscation of the shipment. She thinks that if the plane lands at the new spot they have chosen, there is a chance that international law enforcement can intervene and seize the weapons. Angela’s involvement in London ensures that legal pressure mounts not just on Roper’s operations in Colombia but also back in England.

The Night Manager (Season 2 Finale) Episode 6 Ending Explained:

Can anyone stop Roper now?

The finale turns dramatically sour when Roper shows up at the rebel camp. He reveals that he has outsmarted the plan to reroute the aircraft carrying the weapons. The plane that Jonathan and Teddy thought would be stopped was only a decoy. Roper had sent the real shipment on a second plane that lands with the weapons safely at the rebels’ camp. This move shows how deeply Roper anticipates Jonathan’s strategies and how far he is willing to go to maintain his operations.

When the rebels learn that Roper has tricked them and that they will not be getting the promised support, they turn on Teddy. Without hesitation, Roper shoots his own son in the head, killing him instantly. Teddy’s death shows that Roper sees loyalty only as a tool and that even family is expendable when ambition outweighs attachment. With Teddy gone, Roper appears to have full control again.

Roper then allows the rebels to turn on Jonathan. Just as they prepare to execute him, Martín Alvarez arrives and opens fire, buying Jonathan enough time to escape in Martín’s car. Martin sacrifices himself, trapped by the rebels, and is killed while Jonathan gets away. The scene makes it clear that even surviving this moment will not bring peace or closure.

What happens to Angela Burr?

The destruction continues back in England. Angela Burr, who has finally gathered files and evidence linking Mayra and Roper to their global network, is assassinated just as she calls in her findings. An assassin shoots her, and her daughter later finds her body. This devastating moment shows that even the people fighting for truth and justice are not safe from the reach of those they oppose.

The Night Manager (Season 2 Finale) Episode 6 ends with Roper returning to his new home in Oxfordshire, England. He is driving with his remaining son, calmly listening to music while a radio news report explains that Colombia is in the midst of civil war, with mass casualties happening daily. This final image makes it clear that Roper has won this round, reshaping global events in his favour and having escaped accountability once again.

While this season ends with Roper’s victory and Jonathan’s world upended, it also sets up future conflict, with loose ends suggesting a continuing battle in season 3 between Pine and the network Roper has built.
