Will there be ‘The Old Guard 3’?: Charlize Theron starrer The Old Guard series apparently has another movie in the pipeline.
The action-packed big-budget film premiered almost three years ago on Netflix. Considering its massive success, the streaming giant announced a sequel. ‘The Old Guard Chapter 2: Force Multiplied‘ wrapped up its production in late 2022 and is finally getting a release. It is due to premiere on Netflix later in the year.
Although the sequel hasn’t even been released yet, there are already rumors of a third film in this series and making it a trilogy. The producer Mark Evens alluded to it during his recent interview for Variety.
Evans said that the ending of The Old Guard sequel warrants another movie in the now-potential trilogy. He said, “There’s an ending to No. 2 that kind of demands a No. 3, which makes me very happy.”
What was The Old Guard about?
The 2020 Netflix release – The Old Guard, followed a group of centuries-old immortal beings known as mercenaries. These mercenaries, who have the ability to heal themselves, discover someone who knows about their secret. So, they figure they must fight to protect their freedom.
The massively entertaining action fantasy flick was directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King, Love and Basketball). It was written by Greg Rucka, based on his eponymous comic book.

The Old Guard proved to be a tremendous success for Netflix. Starring Theron as an immortal ass-kicking warrior, the action thriller was the most successful movie of that summer for the streaming giant. Who is directing the sequel to Charlize Theron’s The Old Guard?
It was earlier announced that the sequel is in production, with Victoria Mahoney directing the project. Besides her acting career, Mahoney is known for having directed episodes from several TV series, including Apple TV+’s The Morning Show and Netflix’s You.
The Old Guard Chapter 2: Force Multiplied is written by Greg Rucka and stars a returning cast, such as Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, and Harry Melling, besides Theron. Uma Thurman and Henry Golding will also join this sequel, although their roles haven’t been disclosed just yet. Charlize Theron hasn’t yet confirmed whether she will return for a third film, but she noted her support for the plan.
