The Testaments is an American dystopian drama television series made for Hulu. It is based on the 2019 novel The Testaments, written by Margaret Atwood. The novel is a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale and is set 15 years after the events of that story. The series continues the same narrative and serves as a follow-up to The Handmaid’s Tale, which aired from 2017 to 2025. It has been created by Bruce Miller, who also worked on the earlier show. The series belongs to the drama and dystopia genres and stays within the same world and timeline. It premiered on April 8, 2026, and is available to watch on Hulu as its original release platform.
