The season 4 finale of the TV show Will Trent delivers one of its most emotional and painful episodes so far. The story takes a tragic turn as the show loses another important character, making it the second major death in a short span of time. This ending not only affects the characters deeply but also sets up a new direction for the next season.

The biggest moment in the finale is the death of Seth, played by Scott Foley. Seth is Angie’s husband, and his death comes at a time that makes it even more heartbreaking. He and Angie were on their way to the hospital because Angie was about to give birth to their baby. While driving, their car is hit at a red light, leading to a serious accident.

At first, it looks like Angie is more badly injured. Seth stays calm and focuses on helping her. He checks on the baby and confirms that the child is still alive. Even in that stressful moment, he tries to comfort Angie as she goes into labor. The two of them also decide on a name for their daughter, Edie, during this time.

Will Trent Season 4 Finale Shows Seth’s Final Moments and Its Emotional Aftermath

Seth also tries to help others at the scene. He asks people nearby to help open the car door so Angie can be taken out safely. He even checks on the other driver involved in the crash, who appears to have died. Despite all this, Seth does not show how badly he is hurt. When they reach the hospital, Angie is taken into surgery immediately. Seth tells her that he will follow her inside. But once the situation settles, the truth about his condition becomes clear.

The adrenaline wears off, and Seth realizes that he has serious internal injuries. He starts coughing up blood and collapses. He dies from those injuries soon after. The show does not directly show Angie finding out about Seth’s death. Instead, it moves into quieter and more emotional moments. Will Trent meets the newborn baby, Edie, for the first time. He then brings Angie and the baby home, where they stay with him, Nico, and his dog, Betty.

Will Trent Season 4 Shows How Loss Changes Will and Shapes His New Role

This loss becomes a turning point for Will. Earlier in the season, the show had already killed off another major character, Amanda Wagner, who was murdered. That loss had already affected Will deeply. Now, Seth’s death pushes him even further emotionally. Will decides to step up and take responsibility in a different way. He promises to take care of baby Edie and be there for her.

In a very emotional moment, he speaks to the baby and promises that he will protect her and make sure she feels safe and loved. This reflects what Amanda had taught him earlier in his life. After this, Will takes a break from his work at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The show shows a montage of time passing, where Will, Angie, Nico, and Betty come together to raise Edie. They celebrate moments like Halloween and Christmas as a small family.

Will Trent Sets Up a New Beginning After Loss and Change

Months later, both Will and Angie return to work. But things are no longer the same. There is a new structure at work, including a new deputy director. Will also has a new partner, Ormewood. At the same time, Faith is working on a dangerous case involving a sex trafficking ring connected to powerful people in Atlanta. The season ends with a sense that things are changing again. Even though the characters have gone through loss and grief, they are stepping into a new phase.

The arrival of baby Edie gives Will a sense of purpose and a clearer idea of what family means to him. The finale shows how the series is not afraid to take risks with its story. It deals with loss, responsibility, and emotional growth in a very direct way. At the same time, it prepares the ground for bigger and more intense stories in the next season.

Seasons 1 to 4 of Will Trent are now available to stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+, and ABC has confirmed a fifth season.
