My Happy Marriage (Season 1 Finale), Episode 12 “Light In The Darkness” Recap:

The episode begins with Kiyoko walking in a forest, wondering where he is. The last thing he remembers is his fight with grotesqueries. He wonders if he is dead while looking at the grotesqueries. He charges his sword with fire and is ready to fight. In reality, Kiyoko is still unconscious. Arata prepares Miyo by instructing her on how to find Kiyoko’s soul. He tells her to focus properly so she can enter Kiyoko’s soul. Hazuki tells Miyo that everyone in that room believes in her, and Miyo reassures everyone that no matter what she encounters, she will return with Kiyoko. Miyo begins the process and is surprised to find herself in a dreamlike wormhole, and she immediately calls out to Kiyoko. The next thing she recalls is finding herself in the Saimori house compound. Meanwhile, Kiyoko is fighting with the grotesqueries and he realizes that with every grotesquery he kills, another emerges, and there is no sign of Godo or the team. He knows this isn’t his world but he refuses to die. He heard Miyo’s voice, and he was taken aback. He calls out to Miyo but hears no response.

Miyo is inside the Saimori house and wonders if Kiyoko is in there, but she is met with weird giggles that scare Miyo. She sees a young child running around, and Miyo tries to follow her and ends up in a room. The little girl resembles young Miyo, and she follows her through a series of doors. She enters the last room to find it covered in water, and a door emerges, but that door reminds Miyo of all the bad memories from her childhood. She gathers her courage and enters the room to find herself on the opposite side, wearing a tattered Kimono. Kiyoko is fighting with the grotesqueries, refusing to give up as he wants to find Miyo, and he is sure she is nearby as he had heard her voice, but he is in pain because of the grotesqueries’ attacks. He is sad as he was supposed to find Miyo, but she had come to him, and he didn’t want to die before seeing her again as he had to apologize to her. He is more determined to fight the grotesqueries and survive.

Miyo is having a conversation with the other Miyo, who we can assume is the alter ego of Miyo. The other Miyo tells Miyo about the hardships she faced after her mother died and how she hurt everyone around her. She does not deserve Kiyoko, and she should give up as that’s all she always does. She talks about being alone and that being the only way she knew to survive. But Miyo responds by saying she wouldn’t give up as she had changed and realized that now she had people who cared about her. She was not going to give up this time. But the other Miyo is stubborn and insists that Miyo give up before she has any more scars. Miyo tells the other Miyo that she needs to apologize to Kiyoko as he has always believed in her and was always there for her. She goes towards the other Miyo and, with a lot of passion, tells the other Miyo that she wants to spend the rest of her life with Kiyoko, and she becomes queen-like, with cherry blossom kimono and cherry blossom flowers flying all around her. She goes to the other Miyo, hugs her, and tells her she needs to find Kiyoko so they both can find happiness together. The other Miyo vanishes and finds Kiyoko’s hair-tie in her hand.
