A24 and IMAX Collaborate for Monthly Screening: A24 is an independent entertainment company that has produced some incredible films under its banner. It has developed a reputation as a powerhouse in independent filmmaking with a passionate fanbase. The reason behind its popularity is that A24 movies subvert varied genre films, pushing the boundaries of what is expected.
The entertainment company has once again brought something unexpected yet interesting in its fans’ favor.
It is not an unknown fact that A24 is the company behind major cinematic masterpieces, including the Oscar-winning film “Everything Everywhere All At Once.” However, despite producing many incredible films, it has rarely had a chance for an IMAX release until now. Now, A24 has decided to partner with IMAX on a new monthly screening series that will bring its most popular films to the large-screen format for the first time. The screenings will be held across 300 IMAX locations in the United States throughout the next year, in addition to some international screens.

The screening series will begin on March 27 with the IMAX debut of “Ex Machina,” the 2014 Alex Garland-directed sci-fi thriller starring Alicia Vikander, Oscar Isaac, and Domhnall Gleeson. The film follows a programmer who is invited by his CEO to administer the Turing test to an intelligent humanoid robot. The film won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects, and it indeed deserves a debut screening at IMAX.
Fans of Garland’s films will be treated to something extra. Along with the screening of Ex Machina, the audience will also get a glimpse of Garland’s upcoming film, “Civil War.” The film depicts a hypothetical second American Civil War and has a star cast that includes Kirsten Dunst, Cailee Spaeny, Nick Offerman, and more. “Civil War” is scheduled to be released by A24 on April 12. The full film will also receive an IMAX run upon its release.
The next film from A24 will be released on April 24. The film scheduled to release in April is Ari Aster’s 2018 horror film “Hereditary.” The film stars Alex Wolff and Toni Collette in the lead roles. Since the film was regarded as one of the greatest horror flicks of the 2010s, witnessing it on an IMAX screen would certainly be exhilarating for the audience. Aster’s film was A24’s highest-grossing box office hit for four years.
The last date announced for IMAX screening is the 2019 crime thriller Uncut Gems, which is scheduled for IMAX release on May 22. Directed by brothers Josh and Benny Safdie, the film stars Adam Sandler as a diamond merchant who finds himself in trouble after accruing massive debts due to his gambling addiction.
Further dates and films for A24’s IMAX series are yet to be announced.
