“Ulajh” opens with Suhana Bhatia, a driven and ambitious IFS officer from a long line of patriots who’ve served the nation, whether in the military or other top government bodies. But, being a woman in a male-dominated field, her advice is often brushed aside by her superiors, who prefer her to “observe” rather than contribute.
Early in the film, Suhana is in a diplomatic meeting with the Nepalese government. Despite her superiors telling her to stay quiet and assuming she’d mess things up, Suhana shocks everyone by convincing the Minister to align with India’s stance. Impressed by her sharp diplomacy, Indian Foreign Minister Manohar Rawal recognizes her potential and promotes her to Deputy High Commissioner of Great Britain.
Will Suhana Sacrifice Her Integrity to Protect Her Family’s Name from Nakul’s Blackmail?
A few months later, during an Embassy party, Suhana runs into Nakul Sharma, an Indian Origin Michelin Star Chef from Japan, who speaks multiple tongues and strikes a friendship with him. Soon, it is revealed that Nakul Sharma is a degenerate man who uses blackmail to get what he wants. All those stories about being a chef were absolute quackery. Nakul has made a video of his intimate time with Suhana and threatens to release the footage to the media if Suhana doesn’t agree to his demands.
What Nakul wants is a copy of the Green Energy Bill that will soon be announced between the Indian Government and Britain. Nakul’s employers want to know all about the deal beforehand so they can place bids and tenders and pocket billions. If Suhana wants to save her family name from tarnishing, she must comply with Nakul’s requests, especially since Suhana’s father, Dhanraj, is India’s new representative at the United Nations.
Can Suhana Outsmart Akhtar?
It is also revealed that Nakul is actually Humayun Akhtar, a Lahore-born ISI agent. Akhtar once again threatens Suhana that if she doesn’t reveal the names of the Undercover RAW Agents in Islamabad, he’ll leak the video to the media. This is a difficult choice, as giving the names of the undercover agents would mean their certain death. Suhana gives the names to Akhtar but also leaves an anonymous tip for RAW so their lives can be saved.
Jacob Tamang has been looking for a leak in the London Office for weeks and figures that Suhana has been leaking intel to Pakistan. Unfortunately, before he can take it to his officials, a sniper bullet finds its mark on him. Akhtar has been keeping Suahana under constant surveillance to make sure she doesn’t hinder his plan. It is also revealed that Akhtar has been coercing Saleem, Suhana’s driver, to run some errands.
How did Sabin & Suhana come to work together?
For months, Indian media has been only talking about the diplomatic extradition of Yaseen Mirza, a fugitive whom Pakistan has agreed to return to India to strengthen their diplomatic relations, hoping they can become friends rather than arch-enemies. For context, Yaseen Mirza is responsible for the Bombay bomb blast but was somehow able to cross the border. Now, the Indian Government wants him back so he can face trial. However, many Indian officials are skeptical that Pakistan is planning something, given their history. Therefore, the government must locate the leak before the extradition takes place.
Sanjiv Bajpayee, the current RAW chief, pays Suhana a visit in London and asks her to lead the investigation to discover the mole, which he thinks is Sabin Kutty, a RAW agent at the London Embassy. Sabin Kutty was stationed at Islamabad Agency and was terminated for insubordination, so he is a perfect suspect. Sabin is sure that Suhana is a mole working for Pakistan, but when he learns that Suhana is being blackmailed, they are forced to work together. They find that Prakash Kamath is also working with the ISI.

How is Manohar Rawal connected to the conspiracy?
Suhana and Sabin figure out that Pakistan is planning something on Independence Day and travel to Delhi to stop it. Using Sabin’s contact in Rawalpindi, they learn that Akhtar, alias David, is a French Canadian sniper and gun for hire. His employer has hired him to assassinate Shahzad Alam, the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, who is currently in India for peace talks and to celebrate Independence Day. Alam is to visit Jamia Darbar Sharif Dargah. Suhana and Sabin believe this is where Akhtar will try to assassinate Shahzad Alam.
But who has hired Akhtar, and why he wants to kill Shahzad Alam? It is revealed that the actual mastermind of the plan is Foreign Minister Manohar Rawal. Years ago, Rawal worked for Delhi Police with Salim and Kamath. It is a rumor that Yaseen Mirza, the Mubai-blast terrorist, bribed one Delhi Police officer who helped him escape to Pakistan. That police officer was Rawal, the current Foreign Minister of India and a Pakistani agent.
If Yaseen Mirza is extradited to India, he will tell everyone that Rawal helped him escape, putting Rawal’s political career in Jeopardy. This is why Rawal and some officials from the Pakistani government have made plans to assassinate Shahzad Alam. If the PM of Pakistan is killed on Indian soil, the Pakistani government will never agree to extradite Yaseen Mirza. Rawal has also created a paper trail to frame Suhana as an ISI Spy. This is exactly why he promoted Suhana and her father to major diplomatic roles, where they have access to highly confidential information.
What happens to Suhana and Sabin Kutty?
Suhana and Sabin hack Prakash Kamath’s laptop and delete videos and documents linking Suhana to ISI. Without these documents, it will be impossible for Rawal to prove that Suhana is the culprit. Rawal tries to back down, but the Pakistani Defence Minister orders him to go ahead, or he’ll extradite Yaseen Mirza first thing in the morning. Akhtar tries to kill Shahzad Alam, but Suhana kills him before he can pull the trigger, saving Shahzad Alam’s life.
Both Rawal and Kamath are arrested and sent to prison. Shahzad Alam also returns to Pakistan unscathed and stops the military coup that is happening there. As for Suhana, she is praised by the Indian Prime Minister and is hired by Black Cat, a highly secret covert unit. Black Cat has been trying to apprehend Zulfikar Ahmed, a Pakistani, who abducts children and turns them into operatives who’ll do anything he wants. Black Cat believes Suhana’s intelligence and diplomatic skills can be a significant asset to the covert unit. Sabin Kutty also joins the same task force as Suhana. This is a great honor for Suhana’s family, adding another star to their family name, as Suahana’s father and his father before him were all high-ranking diplomats.
