Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 10 “Truth” Recap:

The episode opens with Badeni entering Oczy’s barn, wanting to use the barn until the research is complete. At that time, Badeni notices Oczy with a book, so Oczy says Jolenta is teaching him how to read and write. Hearing this, Badeni is upset as Badeni thinks someone in Oczy’s status should not read or write. According to Badeni, reading and writing are special skills, and leaving words behind is a huge responsibility. The reason Badeni thinks this is because if the written word is easily accessible, then unreliable/false information will spread. Despite his belief, Badeni asks Oczy why he wants to read and write. Oczy says he wants to write a book. However, the book is not for publishing but is like a diary to record the research Badeni is doing.

Sadly, Badeni thinks a written record of such matters will put their life at risk. However, Badeni does not forbid Oczy from writing the book but says that if he maintains the diary, Badeni will burn the pages. In the church, children ask Father Grabowski why rainbows occur and why they have so many colors. However, Father Grabowski does not have an answer to it, so Grabowski asks Badeni. Unfortunately, Badeni is unwilling to answer for free, so Grabowski offers to get more ink and paper. Briefly, Badeni says the rainbow has many colors because, according to Epicurus, a rainbow occurs when sunlight passes through a moist atmosphere. The colors of the rainbow are produced as a part or whole because of a bond between light and atmosphere. The resulting light is reflected and absorbed by the atmosphere, forming an array of colors.

How did Badeni get the scar on his face?

Grabowski is unsure how to explain this concept to the children in the church. Furthermore, Grabowski gets curious as Badeni mentions Epicurus and asks if Badeni has read about Lucretius. So Badeni says he has read Lucretius’s work. Now, Grabowski is excited as he has joined the church just to read Lucretius’s work and asks if Badeni can share the knowledge. However, Badeni refuses to share the knowledge since he despises it. In anger, Grabowski leaves but convinces himself that everyone has a purpose on Earth, and Badeni does too. In the chapel, Grabowski is lost in thought about Badeni when the elders in the church bring Grabowski to the present.

The old people say that Badeni’s scar results from a duel back in the day when Badeni used to do research with his best friend, who stole credit for the research work. When Badeni confronted the friend, the friend challenged Badeni to a duel. In the end, Badeni survived and had to kill his close friend. After listening to the story, Grabowski asks Badeni why he chose to continue his research after something tragic happened in his life. Badeni says the purpose of his study or any scholarly activity is to find truth, which drives him. The next day, Grabowski heads to a nearby library to read but sees that the library is closed for the day. On the way back, Grabowski takes a book that has fallen near the bushes.

Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 10 “Truth” Ending Explained:

Meanwhile, Badeni cannot determine why the planetary orbits aren’t in perfect circles. Later in the day, Badeni asks Oczy to dig a tunnel from the church to the barn as an escape plan in case something goes wrong. Before Badeni leaves, Oczy asks for more bread daily, but Badeni refuses as he knows Oczy is giving food to beggars. As Badeni continues to research, he realizes that planetary movement is elliptical. Because of the chest in the mountains, Badeni knows the orbital period of Mars. Using the notes, Badeni draws lines from the fixed stars to the Sun and Mars. Through this, Badeni can figure out Earth’s position. As Badeni continues to work, he makes a breakthrough in the research.

Who is training the new inquisitors?

In the barn, Badeni finds the book Oczy was using and starts reading it. Later, Badeni visits one of the beggars to whom Oczy gives them food and asks the beggar for a favor in return for the food Oczy gives. The next day, Badeni gives Oczy more food and asks him to continue to work on the tunnel. Soon, Badeni tells Oczy he can have his barn back as Badeni has completed the heliocentric theory. Elsewhere, there are new inquisitor recruits, and the Bishop tells the young lads to help pagans and heretics walk on the right path as they have gone astray. The Bishop also says the church binds people together while heretics break the unity. Among them are two recruits who vow to work hard. At that time, Nowak appears and tells the new inquisitors that Nowak will be training them.

In this episode, we see Badeni progress in the research and find the missing things in Count Piast’s and the other heretic’s calculations. Now that Badeni has discovered the right calculations, he is probably ready to publish the findings. In the next episode, we will see what Badeni discovered. We also don’t know what favor Baeni asks from the beggar. We have yet to find out what book Grabowski found. The ending with Nowak training the new inquisitors may have a significant role in the story as Badeni prepares to publish something completely against the church. Nowak is perhaps training his team to take down Badeni. Jolenta is also changing universities, and we may see Jolenta taking part in serious research with a newly appointed person.
