Revelations (Original title: Gyesirok, 2025) is a psychological thriller where the boundaries between faith, delusion, vengeance, and trauma blur. The story follows three central characters, each grappling with their own darkness. Yeon-Hui, a hardened detective, joined the Violent Crimes Division after losing her sister to a sadistic killer. The pain of that loss still lingers, fueling her relentless pursuit of justice. Min-chan, a struggling pastor, is desperate for recognition, his ambition overshadowing his crumbling marriage. As he battles the betrayal of his unfaithful wife, his obsession with success manifests in unsettling visions—ones that drive him toward irreversible choices.
Then there’s Kwon, a man whose childhood was defined by suffering at the hands of his abusive stepfather. The scars of his past twisted into something monstrous, leading him to inflict the same torment on a woman. But a psychiatrist saw through his demons, securing him a short prison sentence rather than a lifetime behind bars. Now, freshly released, Kwon finds himself entangled in a series of events that will set an unstoppable chain reaction into motion.

Revelations (Gyesirok, 2025) Plot Summary & Movie Synopsis:
The film opens with the young girl, A-yeong, walking in an alley towards Mission Nation Church as a suspicious man follows A-yeong. The man continues to follow A-yeong inside the church. From afar, a woman looks at the suspicious man’s movements. After the church meeting, the man, Kwon Yang-rae, follows A-Yeong outside. However, the church pastor, Seong Min-chan, stops Kwon as he looks new to the church. To convince Kwon to join the church, Min-chan asks about Kwon and asks him to fill out a form.
Opposite the church, the woman (Lee Yeon-Hui) bumps into A-yeong. Inside the church, Min-chan lets Kwon fill out the form as he needs to answer a private investigator’s call. Through the private investigator, Min-chan learns that his wife, Lee Si-Yeong, is cheating on Min-chan. When Min-chan walks inside, Kwon tries to leave hurriedly, so Min-chan helps Kwon put on his shoes. As Min-chan does that, he sees an ankle monitor on Kwon’s leg and is taken aback. Still, Min-chan says Kwon is welcome to the church.
Outside, Yeon-Hui angrily stares at Kwon. Before Yeon-Hui can follow Kwon, she gets a call from her father. Meanwhile, Min-chan drops Si-Yeong off at a supposed reunion, which Min-chan knows is a lie. On the way, Si-Yeong notices a new church that Pastor Jung, whom Min-chan already knows, is planning to build. At home, Yeon-Hui’s father asks Yeon-Hui to be careful as he has lost a daughter, and Yeon-Hui is the only one he has.
Elsewhere, Min-chan visits Pastor Jung, hoping to hear an offer to become a pastor in the new church, but the pastor asks Min-chan for a recommendation. Outside the church, Min-chan bumps into Pastor Jung’s son Hwan-su. From Hwan-su, Min-chan learns that Jung wants Hwan-su to run the new church. At night, Si-Yeong calls Min-chan to ask about their kid Yeon-u’s whereabouts. Since Yeon-u is not at daycare, Min-chan suspects Kwon.
What happens to Kwon?
After surfing the web, Min-chan learns about Kwon’s whereabouts. At home, Yeon-Hui has a nightmare about her sister Yeon-ju. It turns out Kwon had physically abused and tortured Yeon-ju, and for all those days, Yeon-ju hoped Yeon-Hui would find her. Because of this, Yeon-Hui has PTSD, as she feels guilty for not saving her sister sooner.
Meanwhile, Min-chan sees Kwon outside his residence with a shovel and a garbage bag. Panicked, Min-chan calls the police and says Kwon is behaving suspiciously. As Kwon leaves, taking his van, Min-chan follows him. Inside a forested area, Min-chan stops the car because he can’t spot Kwon. Suddenly, Kwon arrives with his van from behind and approaches Min-chan. Seeing Min-chan, Kwon says he is headed home and walks back. However, Min-chan is convinced Kwon has Yeon-u, so Min-chan starts looking inside Kwon’s van.
When Min-chan squats down, he notices the ankle monitor missing from Kwon’s leg. Now, Kwon and Min-chan start fighting each other. While fighting, Kwon accidentally falls down a slight slope and hits his head on a rock. At that moment, Si-Yeong calls Min-chan to inform him that Yeon-u is safe. As Min-chan cuts the call, he sees a face on the hill opposite him.
Sadly, Min-chan thinks Kwon is dead; Min-chan pushes Kwon down the cliff. The next morning, as it is Yeon-Hui’s first day in the Violent Crimes Division, her partner Eun-gyu introduces himself and takes her to a briefing. The cops find bizarre drawings inside Kwon’s house. At the church, Yeon-Hui and Eun-gyu arrive to ask Min-chan some questions. The police tell Min-chan that A-yeong from the church is also missing.
What happened to Yeon-Hui’s sister?
At the church, Yeon-Hui notices Min-chan’s dirt-covered, muddy jacket and shoes. Pastor Jung calls Min-chan to the church. There, Jung reveals that Hwan-su has committed adultery and wants Min-chan to become the pastor of the new church. When Jung says this, Min-chan sees a Jesus-like image before him.
At the police station, the cops try to gather more information about Kwon from his psychiatrist, Dr. Lee Nak-seong. In a flashback, we see during Kwon’s trial, Nak-seong says Kwon had undergone physical abuse because of his stepfather. This has developed into violent behavior in Kwon. At that time, Yeon-Hui completely lost control and was escorted outside the court. At present, Yeon-Hui confronts Nak-seong, asking for his reasoning. Yeon-Hui blames A-yeong’s kidnapping on Nak-seong as he takes Kwon’s side, and the crimes are repeated. Because of Nak-seong, Kwon’s story goes viral, and people sympathize with Kwon, which hurts Yeon-ju deeply, pushing her to the edge and killing herself.

At the church, Min-chan consoles A-yeong’s mother, assuring her that A-yeong is alive. The police find Kwon’s car and hurry there. Since Min-chan is driving A-yeong’s mother home, she gets a call about Kwon’s car location, so Min-chan drives A-yeong’s mother there. At the crime scene, Min-chan asks the cops if they didn’t find a body. Later, Min-chan drops Si-Yeong at the care center and decides to confront Si-Yeong about her affair. After Min-chan pushes Si-Yeong, she confesses to the sin of adultery, and Min-chan prays for her.
On the way to the care center, they spot an ambulance and offer to help, but the men refuse, saying a tow truck will arrive. At the center, Min-chan learns about a wounded man who has come crawling from the mountains to the living center. Immediately, Min-chan suspects Kwon. After the women enter the center, Min-chan looks for and finds Kwon. Even in that painful state, Kwon mumbles that a pastor tried to kill him. At that time, Min-chan sees an angelic figure in the sky.
Why does Min-chan want to kill Kwon?
Afraid of getting caught, Min-chan secretly takes Kwon in a wheelchair away from the center. When the ambulance arrives, they realize Kwon is missing. Seeing the pastors’ wives practicing singing, Yeon-Hui requests the details of the church these women are from. In an abandoned building, Min-chan ties Kwon and says it is divine intervention for Min-chan and Kwon to run into each other.
Subsequently, Kwon reveals that A-yeong is alive, but if Kwon dies, so will A-yeong. With that in mind, Kwon asks Min-chan to call the cops, and then he will reveal everything. As Min-chan panics, Kwon sings a hymn. Descending the stairs, Min-chan falls and sees ‘D24=7’ on the wall. At the church, everyone prays for A-yeong, and Min-chan reads the passage Deuteronomy 24:7, and he relates that to the numbers on the wall. Meanwhile, Yeon-Hui arrives at the church and sees Min-chan’s car covered with dirt. When Yeon-Hui takes the mud and sniffs it, she smells mulberry.
Now, Yeon-Hui is in the abandoned building and finds Kwon. Unfortunately, Yeon-Hui is haunted by her sister’s vision, asking Yeon-Hui to kill Kwon. This time, Kwon recognizes Yeon-Hui and messes with her more, saying that A-yeong is alive. Suddenly, Min-chan attacks Yeon-Hui. Unfortunately, Min-chan also ties Yeon-Hui and tells her that A-yeong is dead despite what Kwon says. There is tension between them as Kwon provokes Yeon-Hui, saying Yeon-ju’s death is not Kwon’s fault.
Meanwhile, Min-chan is convinced A-yeong is dead, and God has asked Min-chan to kill Kwon. At the same time, Yeon-Hui tries to persuade Min-chan that A-yeong is alive. Suddenly, Kwon starts to sing some hymns. Seizing the opportunity, Yeon-Hui frees herself and handcuffs Min-chan. However, Kwon slips and falls from the building, before falling to the ground, Kwon says the one-eyed monster ate A-yeong. Later, as cops take Min-chan away, he is happy to see Kwon dead.
Revelations (Gyesirok, 2024) Movie Ending Explained:
In a redevelopment area, A-yeong is locked up in an abandoned building. The workers demolishing the buildings are unaware that a girl is inside. Elsewhere, Yeon-Hui is at Nak-seong’s office, where she learns about Kwon’s life. One key insight Yeon-Hui learns is when Kwon used to get hit by his stepfather, Kwon’s mother used to sing some hymns outside.
According to Nak-seong, the one-eyed monster could represent Kwon’s stepfather. Suddenly, Yeon-Hui starts to hallucinate, which Nak-seong notices. After hearing Yeon-Hui’s guilt-filled story, Nak-seong explains that Yeon-Hui’s visions aren’t that different from those of Kwon or Min-chan. As Kwon blamed the monster, Min-chan blamed God’s revelations, and Yeon-Hui blamed herself. The doctor asks Yeon-Hui to think of what could have triggered Kwon to commit crimes again.
Thanks to Yeon-Hui’s father’s scaffolding project, Yeon-Hui realizes that the house with a single or one-eyed window was Kwon’s trigger, as Yeon-Ju also had a single window. Immediately, Yeon-Hui informs the other cops and rushes to the redevelopment area. Thankfully, Yeon-Hui reaches just in time to save A-yeong. The first thing A-yeong says is that she knew someone would rescue her. After that, Min-chan is put behind bars. A while later, Yeon-Hui visits Min-chan in prison and informs him that A-yeong is alive and well. Through the conversation, Min-chan realizes he has been obsessing without reason. In the prison cell, Min-chan wipes off the Jesus-like image he has drawn.
In the end, A-yeong is saved, and Min-chan faces the consequences of his actions. Unlike Kwon, Min-chan ultimately realizes that the divine revelations he believed in were nothing more than hallucinations—manifestations of his obsession and unraveling mind. Meanwhile, Yeon-Hui finds closure when Nak-seong helps her confront her guilt. Rescuing A-yeong becomes a moment of catharsis for her; history has not repeated itself, and for the first time in years, she feels a sense of relief.
The film delves into the intricate ways the human mind interprets the world through the lens of personal experience. Kwon, who grew up under the brutal hand of his stepfather, knew only violence—so he inflicted it upon Yeon-ju and A-yeong, repeating the cycle of pain. His fixation on a single window stemmed from childhood memories, a haunting reminder of his own home.
Min-chan, blinded by ambition and desperation, saw signs of Jesus and angels in everyday objects, believing them to be divine messages urging him to punish Kwon. Yeon-Hui, burdened by unresolved grief, was haunted by visions of her sister, with Kwon’s presence acting as a trigger that intensified her guilt. Through its layered narrative, Revelations examines the fragile nature of the human psyche, exploring belief systems, mental illness, trauma, and the ways in which past suffering shapes one’s perception of reality and survival in the world.
