Bernardo Bertolucci’s directed film “The Dreamers” will get a 4k release as the film completes its 20th anniversary. The late filmmaker Bertolucci was undeniably one of the best filmmakers of his era, and his contribution to the film industry will always be remembered. His directorial pieces were way ahead of their time. Among all his projects, two of his films were considered the most controversial movies of his career. Those were “The Last Tango in Paris,” starring Marlon Brando, and “The Dreamers.

“The Dreamers” is once again in the spotlight as the film completes its 20th anniversary. On that occasion, it will be re-released to celebrate the work of the late director.

The Dreamers re-launches on 4K with an exciting bonus for the fans

“The Dreamers” premiered two decades ago in 2003, and for its anniversary, the film is getting its first 4K release. What adds a bonus treat to this news is that the film will be re-released with some extra material. According to IndieWire, apart from getting an opportunity to relive the film, the fans will get a chance to learn a little more about the film, which includes extensive features about the making of the film and the story it is based on. Additionally, there will be commentary from Bertolucci, Gilbert Adair, the writer, and Jeremy Thomas, the producer. Along with that, interviews with Bertolucci, Green, Pitt, Garrel, Thomas, and Adair will be presented, along with behind-the-scenes footage of the film’s production.

“The Dreamers” is a romantic drama that features Michael Pitt, Eva Green, and Louis Garrel in the lead roles. The film follows the story of an American university student in Paris who, after meeting a peculiar brother and sister who are fellow film enthusiasts, becomes entangled in an erotic triangle. It is set against the backdrop of the 1968 Paris student riots. Moreover, the film makes several references to various classical and French New Wave cinema, incorporating clips from films that are often imitated by the actors in particular scenes.

Penned by Gilbert Adair, the film is based on his 1988 novel “The Holy Innocent.” Upon its release, the film garnered positive reviews. Bertolucci was an incredible filmmaker whose career spanned 50 years. He became the first Italian filmmaker to win the Academy Award for Best Director, and he received many other accolades, including a BAFTA Award, a CĂ©sar Award, two Golden Globes, a Golden Lion in 2007, and an Honorary Palme d’Or at Cannes in 2011.

His other notable directorial credits include  Stealing Beauty,  The Sheltering Sky,  Me and You, and  The Conformist. The visionary auteur passed away in 2018.

“The Dreamers” 4K release will be released on May 13 in the UK.
