‘Dave’ Season 3 Trailer: Lil Dicky-starrer FX Series Explores his Journey of Stardom

FX Network has just shared the new trailer of Dave (Season 3), and the fans could not be more excited about it. The first two seasons cemented the identity of its affable central figure Dave, who navigates his way into the hip-hop industry. Lil Dicky plays this goofball character and centers it around his natural awkwardness.

The initial season of this Hulu series introduced Dave’s world, who was yet to crack the code of getting into the rap scene. His annoyingly supportive parents keep him pampered while he worries about the first-world problems of how his artistry will be recognized. While he has great rhyming skills to boost his rap lyrics, he is bound to be called a ‘culture vulture’ for hijacking the art form.

However, the writing focused on the absurdity of this very situation and used Dave’s unpretentious niceness to its advantage. He deals with antisemitic insults projected upon him. His vulnerability lies in his health condition, and the real-life rapper proudly makes it his identity. Besides rhymes, this rapper is also skilled at bringing humor to his lyrics, making his songs sound like stand-up routines told with catchy tunes.

Created by Lil Dicky with Jeff Schaffer, the show was earlier nominated for a Gotham award and a Writing Guilds Award for the award of a new breakthrough series. Its previous season poked fun at how tone-deaf Dave is about the cultural climate. It built itself largely around the themes of white guilt and ignorance. It also spoke about Dave’s past and his long-winding relationships with Emma, GaTa, Elz, Ally, and Mike.

Now Dave’s third season taps into how he handles the sudden fame and stardom. It seems to be triggered by his winning performance with GaTa at the previous season’s finale. Anyhow, the new trailer promises a similar mix of funny, heartwarming, and absurd elements that made its initial seasons adored by its fans. It shows Dave going on a music tour all over America.

It gives a glimpse at how he handles his love life after his break-up with Ally. In his signature goofy style, he keeps trying to understand the aspects of fame, romance, and the culture around him.

Dave Season 3 premieres on Hulu on April 5th, 2023.
