Disney Reveals Stan Lee Documentary Trailer: Even though Stan Lee left Marvel Comics in the 1990s, his influence continues to be felt in the field of comic books. A new documentary celebrating the life and legacy of Stan Lee will be released on Disney+ on June 16. He was reintroduced to a whole new generation of fans through cameo appearances in the films based on characters he helped create, and Marvel’s cinematic efforts propelled the company to new heights. Fans will be able to discover more about the man who assisted in creating the stories that would go on to rule modern popular culture now that a trailer for the movie has been made available.

The Legacy of Marvel’s Stan Lee

Lee, who was born in 1922 and experienced the Great Depression as a child, utilized what little money he did have to devote himself entirely to reading; he discusses this in the trailer.

“I would read everything I could get my hands on… and man, I felt as though I could go anywhere.”

This feeling of escape Lee experienced while reading carried over into his work, and he played a significant role in developing the Marvel Universe that fans today are familiar with and like.

Lee, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 95, is still regarded as one of the most important players in the development of modern comic books. Having joined Marvel, then Timely Comics, in 1939, Lee eventually rose to the position of editor and, throughout the 1960s, collaborated with renowned illustrators like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko to produce a number of genre-defining superheroes.

The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, and the X-Men are just a few of Stan Lee’s creations. They all revolutionized the superhero genre and have been adapted multiple times for television, animation, and live-action films, including the ongoing Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lee’s cameo appearances, which he continued for as long as he was able to, were an early hallmark of MCU films.

Marvel author Brian Michael Bendis discussed how Stan Lee’s storytelling is still felt in the MCU’s frequent use of post-credit scenes as he looked back on Iron Man’s fifteen-year anniversary.

“Stan always talked about how every comic is someone’s first, and it’s the job [of a writer] to never make it the last,” he added, stating, “I took that as my job, too. Get them to come back. We’re always playing with the strongest cliffhangers and the strongest pullback, and the after-credits scenes absolutely do that. We’re never letting you go.”

Supper Club and Marvel Studios produce the upcoming documentary alongside David Gelb, Brian McGinn, and Jason Sterman. Co-executive producer Genius Brands International is also involved. With the release of the documentary, Andy Heyward, Chairman and CEO of Genius Brands, said they were “thrilled to celebrate Stan Lee’s 100th birthday.” Heyward called Lee a “cultural icon” and his journey “fascinating.”

Disney+ will start streaming Stan Lee on June 16.
