Oscar winner Jordan Peele’s long-awaited directorial film has finally got a release date, but fans will have to wait a bit longer for his next movie. The details of the film are kept tightly under wraps, so nothing much is known for now. However, Peele’s recent cryptic post on his X handle came as a relief for his fans, who have been eagerly waiting to know about his upcoming project. According to Peele’s X (formerly Twitter) post, his fourth film as a director will debut on October 23, 2026.
That’s quite a substantial delay from the original release date of December 25, 2024. This date was announced in March 2023. Of course, the main culprit to this delay was the WAG and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which brought the production of the film to a standstill for most of the year. Following this delay, Universal decided to pull the film off its calendar. While Peele hinted at the release date of his upcoming film with a mysterious post by just mentioning 10.23.2026, Universal confirmed the news by officially setting an October 23, 2026, release date for Peele’s next movie.
What do we know about Jordan Peele’s next movie?
Apart from the release date of Peele’s upcoming movie, nothing has been revealed about this project from the logline to any prospective cast members. However, Peele did briefly discuss the film on the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast earlier on January 1. He said, “I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that, you know, could be my favorite movie if I make it right.”

It was previously speculated that Jordan Peele’s next movie could be Christmas-themed, though its new release date should defy that notion. Now, since the movie is slated to release at the end of October, just in time for Halloween, it reflects the director’s taste for horror. This will be Peele’s first film released during the spooky season.
