The esteemed 77th Festival de Cannes is set to sparkle with the announcement of a stellar jury for its Un Certain Regard section, presided over by the multitalented Xavier Dolan. Widely recognized for his Cannes Jury Prize-winning film “Mommy,” the Canadian prodigy has a solid history at Cannes and brings a wealth of experience as an actor and filmmaker. Dolan’s vision and creativity will guide the jury in selecting the most groundbreaking work from a diverse lineup of films.
Accompanying Dolan, the jury welcomes the critically acclaimed Maïmouna Doucouré, celebrated for her captivating narrative in “Cuties,” unveiling the complexities of coming-of-age stories through a bold lens. Her fellow juror, Asmae El Moudir, brings a refreshing angle with her documentary prowess, highlighted by her inquisitive directorial style as seen in “The Wayfarers.”
Adding to the international flair, the German-Luxembourg actress Vicky Krieps, known for her poignant portrayal in “Phantom Thread,” will draw upon her extensive acting range to evaluate emerging talent. Rounding out the jury, Todd McCarthy, celebrated for his authoritative film criticism and his directorial insight, will provide a unique perspective on the entrants.
