The Un Certain Regard section is lauded for spotlighting art and discovery films by youthful visionaries. With 18 films slated, 8 of which are ambitious first features, this year’s selection builds on the momentum of last year’s top prize winner, Molly Manning Walker’s “How to Have Sex,” which is a testament to the festival’s commitment to showcasing debut filmmaker talents.

Setting the section in motion on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, is RĂşnar RĂşnarsson’s evocative film “When the Light Breaks,” opening to what promises to be an attentive and discerning Cannes audience.
