Mayor of Kingstown (Season 2 Finale) Episode 10 Recap:

Who planned the attack on Robert?

The last episode ends with Robert (Hamish Allan-Headley) getting ambushed by a bunch of strangers. Mike (Jeremy Renner), who has been trying to get in touch with him for hours, reaches there a little too late to save him from getting attacked. As a result, he is only left with the job of taking Robert to the hospital. Kyle (Taylor Handley), Stevie (Derek Webster), and Ian (Hugh Dillon) are right by him, hoping that Robert gets better soon.

Mike suddenly recalls Iris (Emma Laird), who earlier asked him to meet at midnight. So, he decides to drive to take care of this matter with Milo (Aidan Gillen). Kyle says that he needs to check on Tracy (Nishi Munshi) since she has left him for the time being. The brothers console one another, and then Mike leaves.

While driving, he stops at a signal when he suddenly gets ambushed by two men who try to shoot him. He manages to trick them into thinking he is dead and then comes out to kill both. However, since it is already past 12, he realizes it is late to get his deal sorted with Milo.

At home, Mariam (Dianne Wiest) suddenly hears some noise in the backyard, like a thud. When she comes out, Iris comes out from hiding and says she cannot think of any other place to go. It seems like she has run away from Milo since Mike could not meet him on time as he was supposed to.

On the other hand, Kareem (Michael Beach) has had enough of numbing violence from Kingstown. He shares his desire to leave their godforsaken town, and she agrees that they can start a life together again. Kareem is only half-heartedly happy by it. Despite being midnight, he gets Mike’s call. After initial hesitation, he picks up the call and learns that Robert has been injured and is in the hospital on life support. Mike wants Kareem to intervene. But he refuses to do so.

Then, Mike decides to show up at Bunny’s (Tobi Mabtefa) place, suspecting him to be behind the attack on Robert. He points a gun at Bunny and asks him why he did this. Then he asks Bunny why he is raging a war in a city and disrupting its peace. Bunny is still haunted by the violence he witnessed and sees these actions as retaliation. Mike feels so hopeless by his answer that he just throws down his gun and leaves.

That’s when he gets a call from Mariam and learns that Milo is at his home. Apparently, Milo came to his place since Iris ran away from his custody. He asks Mike why he did not show up with bonds as he promised. Mike was busy taking care of Robert’s concern and completely forgot about this. Still, he assures Milo that he will be there at the earliest. He calls Kyle to alert him about it.

Mike reaches home, and then Kyle & Ian show up there. Before entering, he suddenly realizes that he left Milo’s bonds in Lincoln. But now he has no time left to reason with Milo. So, he decides to enter on his own to meet the devil himself. Milo asks Mike why he does not have the bonds. Mike says they are in the parked car and urges Milo not to hurt Mariam. That’s when he learns that Iris has murdered Joseph.

By the time Milo leaves his home to get hold of the bonds, Kyle impulsively walks toward the backdoor and attacks Milo’s man, who is standing there. Milo hears that commotion and stays back. Kyle and Ian enter the house and start shooting Milo’s men left and right. That’s when they try to help save Iris and Mariam’s life. Unfortunately, during this shootout, Milo escapes with Iris & Kyle ends up shooting Mariam.

The brothers take their mother to a hospital. Kyle is under a pang of massive guilt for shooting his mother. Mike consoles him and tells him to say that one of Milo’s men did it. He later meets Robert’s wife, who asks about Mariam’s health. He does not reveal that he is the reason she has been hospitalized. But he shares his disdain for the continuing violence in Kingstown. Later, he gets a call from Tracy, who learns by then about this accident. Despite their distance, this incident gives them a chance to reconnect for a few moments.

Mike leaves the hospital with Ian to go find Milo. They go to Joseph’s bar and meet Tatiana (Gratiela Brancusi). But she keeps evading sharing where Milo is. Mike threatens her that there will be police swarming at her business. She believes that Mike should have stayed honest about his deal with Milo and given the bonds. None of this would have happened if he had done so.

Still, she eventually decides to call Milo as per Mike’s request. Mike takes the phone and asks Milo where they should meet. Milo tells him to meet at the east 26th Harbor in one hour. Before leaving, Mike also warns Tatiana to worry about her safety from Milo.

Mayor of Kingstown (Season 2 Finale) Episode 10 Ending Explained:

Does Mike save Iris from Milo?

After his dialogue with Milo, Mike drives to his Lincoln, gets hold of Milo’s bonds, and drives toward the harbor. While on his way there, he calls prison guard Carney (Lane Garrison) to tell him that he needs to take their previously agreed-upon plan by that night. Carney sits in the surveillance room from the prison while Raphael (D Smoke) and other black inmates work on their plan. Then, Carney unlocks Gunner’s (Dylan Kenin) door. Gunner notices it. But by the time he tries to defend himself, those inmates stab him to death.

Milo walks Iris to a boat while she is barefoot. She hesitates to enter out of fear. Seeing she trusts Mike more than him, Milo asks why he likes this mayor so much. She thinks that Mike will kill him sooner or later. Milo believes that Mike sees his own salvation in helping her. Mike and Ian, meanwhile, reach the harbor. Ian wants to call a SWAT team for backup. Mike fears Milo will get a hint of it and will kill Iris.

Mike enters the boat after getting frisked and gives Milo his bonds. Milo gives Iris to Mike and lets him go. But before leaving, he tells Mike that he can’t win the fight he’s fighting. He tries to trigger Mike by calling out his ego. But Mike continues walking back, and Milo’s man follows him. Suddenly, Milo’s boat gets on fire. Iris takes this opportunity to shoot that man. So, Iris is saved for the time being from Milo. However, they are not aware that Milo is still alive. He calls Tatiana and tells her that he will take her to join him.
