The ostensibly third part in a series, “Our Fault” (Original title: Culpa nuestra, 2025), arrives after a massive concerted effort by Prime Video to prop up a pointlessly lavish world, dressing up its soft porn impulses under a stylish front. It’s the latest entrant in the ever-growing pantheon of glossy franchises no one really clamored for — the kind that churns out instalments in a frenzy to sate fleeting curiosities, banking not on the hollow, lifeless characters at its core, but on the charm of the young, magnetic actors who play them.
Don’t come here expecting consistent characterisation or solid, whip-smart writing or a compelling, cohesive world. The narrative sputters only when the makers feel they must introduce stakes. It’s all hinging on the sexual flair of a few scenes, certain exchanges between the dashing leads. The plot, meanwhile, couldn’t get more trite and programmatic, sans any surprise or anticipation. But the leads themselves can’t haul up writing that’s so patently foggy and disinterested and downright lazy.
The narrative can’t muster any energy, over-reliant on sexual sparkle to keep the engine going. This can never fare well with the film itself, so rife with banalities. The Domingo Gonzales film feels overly dictated by bizarre, purposeless decisions and wonky writing. When the script is so clueless and doddering, the tension and chemistry are tied down into a static, unmoving wind-up of demented turns.

You keep wondering why the characters can’t project some dignity, a measure of reasonable intelligence, but they keep thwarting your dangling expectations. The narrative often takes a backseat to the high-end glamour, which is also discussed in an inconsequential manner. The films in the trilogy chug ahead without any consideration for plot movements and gradations. It also doesn’t help that Gabriel Guevara is mostly a wooden lead.
Adapted from Mercedes Ron’s trilogy, the final film ostensibly flirts with the key question of the couple ending up together or being split apart. Would they make it together, or would the separation register profound and unbridgeable? But the writing struggles to extract much drama or dynamism, buried by a clog of inane directions and deeply questionable character motivations. To exacerbate it, only one of the leads possesses a certain charisma, a glint in her eyes, but Guevara displays too much annoying smugness, which increasingly distances you from the mess and heat the characters get drawn into.

Why do Nick and Noah keep a distance?
It is at Jenna and Lion’s wedding that Noah and Nick run into each other again after a while. Nick doesn’t project an attachment, but obviously, he’s still invested in Noah. After a few hiccups and hesitation, they do spend the night together. But he reiterates his insistence that he doesn’t want to retain a romantic relationship with Noah, though she still clutches onto the possibility and reminds him of his kind gesture that struck her deeply. Nick, instead, puts himself in a relationship with Sofia, who has influential family connections.
He sees this relationship as a way of setting his image and reputation right after a debacle involving an insurance company shutdown. She too agrees. Noah is heart-smashed when she sees their togetherness in the newspapers, but she decides to move on as well with Simon, the owner of the tech company she has joined. But once she discovers Nick owns a chunk of the shares, she resigns. Meanwhile, Nick’s mother confesses she’s dying. She has decided to give William custody of Maggie.
What does Sofia teach Nick?
Noah discovers her pregnancy but desists from sharing the information with Nick. She doesn’t want to be entangled with him anymore and hopes to stay with her aunt. Sofia has streaks of desperate envy and meanness, but something about Noah’s moving to Santander melts her defences and spurs her sympathies. Michael has designs to blackmail Sofia about Noah’s pregnancy and the blot it can put on her public life. Even as Sofia is more driven and determined to set things straight and dole out retribution against Michael, Noah isn’t as charged and willing to soften her stance. She almost comes off as a wuss, lacking conviction and spirit. Noah is one of those characters who you wish demanded more from life and those around her.
It’s Sofia who, incidentally, despite an initial veneer of brittleness, shows with compassion and honesty the open, unfiltered truth to Nick. She guides him to see through his flaws, his ways of punishing his father, the hurt he doled out to Noah. Sofia gives him a hand through the fog instead of turning him further curdled with spite and bitterness. She emboldens him towards emotional acceptance, embracing what he must instead of continually looking away.

So Nick immediately rushes to Noah and goads her to stay. She is unwilling, but he is adamant about his wish to stake out a new life with her. He promises her a future, despite her reluctance. Inevitably, a car chase ensues, which ends with Noah naturally succumbing to Nick’s persistence. Of course, she yields to the guy, forgetting everything that’s happened. Nick takes her to her parents’ mansion, but a protester, belonging to the insurance company he shut down, storms in and shoots him in the abdomen. Nick was on his way to fixing his mess by hiring the dismissed employees at the new place Simon presides over. But he does have to suffer for his actions, which is what kicks the final act into gear.

Do Nick and Noah stay together?
Noah witnesses her life fall apart right when she thinks it’s moving into place. It’s a devastating reckoning, finding a promise of a bright future with Nick, only to see it being stolen away yet again. This sends her life into a spiralling spin. Nick ends up comatose for months. After a while, Nick finds his grip on consciousness returning and is grateful to have Noah and their child close by. But Briar, Nick’s ex, pops up, brimming with vengeful fury. It is Michael who diabolically trains her anger and hurt to launch fully on Nick. He, too, has appeared.
Briar, who had suffered a miscarriage, tries to get away with the child, but the couple’s dog, Thor, emerges as the hero of the hour. It’s Thor’s intervention that saves the day, foiling Briar’s kidnapping and ensuring Noah gets her child back. The cops also, by a stroke of heightened contrivance, land on the spot. You can’t really make this shit up. First, stakes are hurled in only to be momentarily diffused. Why even call forth the threat when it can vanish as swiftly? This is one of the many issues with the trilogy.
Michael faces prison time, and Briar months in a psych ward where she will re-negotiate her crumbling sanity. Maggie accepts being in the care of William, and it seems it’ll work out well for her. “Our Fault” concludes with Nick and Noah in a complete, blissful future. Noah gifts Nick a fancy limousine, and it certainly looks like the couple will jet out with a lavish, fabulously replete future. The ending packs in unnecessary contrivances to make its pointlessly drawn-out promises sail through.
