Prime Video & Paramount+ join hands: Paramount+ and Prime Video have partnered to bring previous seasons of “Star Trek: Picard” and “Star Trek: Lower Decks” to the international streamer outside of Canada.

What does the Prime Video & Paramount+ deal entail?

The third and final season of “Picard” will premiere simultaneously with the U.S. on February 16 in Latin America and February 17 in the UK, Australia, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

South Korea will have its premiere at a later date. The series will also stream on Prime Video outside of the U.S. and Canada, while in Canada, it is available on Bell Media’s CTV Sci-Fi Channel and Crave.

This is a major win for Paramount+ as it strives to build its streamer outside the U.S. The series stars Patrick Stewart reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard and features a cast including LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, and more. CBS Studios produce it with executive producers including Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, and Terry Matalas. Matalas serves as the showrunner for season three.

What do we know about Star Trek: Picard Season 3?

The official synopsis for the third and final season of “Star Trek: Picard” reads: “Admiral Jean-Luc Picard embarks on the most daring mission of his life as he answers a desperate call from a long-lost friend. This final adventure brings him face to face with the legacy of his past and unveils explosive revelations that will change the fate of the Federation forever.”

Actor Patrick Stewart has noted that his character, Picard, is in a more positive mindset in the third season. He explained to Den of Geek, “Picard was always excited by the unexpected, and he realized in Season 1 that he was still accessible to those in need of help or protection, which was his primary motivation during his seven years on ‘The Next Generation.'”

One much-anticipated aspect of the season is the canon introduction of the Enterprise-F starship, which was first introduced in the “Star Trek Online” video game. However, showrunner Terry Matalas cautioned fans that the season does not take place on the Enterprise-F and that while it is essential, it is not the focus of the season.

When does Star Trek: Picard Season 3 air?

Star Trek: Picard’s third and final season is set to air in the US starting on February 16th, 2023, on Paramount+. Episodes will be released weekly. Meanwhile, UK fans will have access to the new season the following day on Prime Video starting on February 17th, 2023. Despite the launch of Paramount+ in the UK, new episodes of the show will still be available on Prime Video.

It’s worth mentioning that production for both seasons 2 and 3 took place concurrently. While the third season is intended to be the last, executive producer Alex Kurtzman has left the door open for a possible reversal of that decision.
