Queen of Tears Episode 3 Recap:
The episode begins with a flashback to four years ago. Hyun-soo is showing Hae his hometown and the land and orchards they own. He tells her that they also have a store, and his mother runs it. He takes her to the store and gives her an ice pop. Hae-in mentions that she has never had it, and Hyun-soo thinks she is poor. He tells her he will make sure she enjoys all the things she has missed in her life. Hyun-soo also mentions he will stand by her even if she and her family have debts or anything more.
In the present, as Hyun-soo saves her from the boar, we realize Hae-in was thinking about the past. They walk back to the house, and Hae-in sprains her ankles. Hyun-soo carries her to the house and Hae-in’s aunt is surprised to see them walking in like that. Man Dae comes back early from hunting as his girlfriend Seul Hee’s shaman has predicted that something terrible will happen to him if he goes hunting.
Hyun-woo searches the area the family is hunting in and sees an open fence. Hyun-soo tells the family at dinner about his discovery. Beom Jun treats Hyun-soo with respect and feeds him a pheasant’s leg. Eun-Seong shares details of his life with the family. He was adopted at the age of 13, and before he finished university, his adoptive parents died, and he built his life on his own. Seon Hwa is fond of Eun-seong, and she is showering him with love.
Man Dae sees his employee carrying a dog and calls him over. The employee says the dog is loyal and has saved their son. Man Dae asks if he will sell his dog to him, but the dog’s owner refuses, saying the dog is like family. Later, Eun-Seong goes behind the family’s back and offers 100 million won to the owner to sell his dog. After hesitating a moment, the owner agrees. Soo-cheol and his wife are having a romantic time.
Hyun-soo had told their family after her ankle sprain that Hyun-soo worked in the Marines and was known for his shooting. Soo-cheol shares this with his wife, Da-hye, and she says we should never judge a book by its cover. Soo-cheol asks Da-hye to drink alcohol but remembers she finds it bitter. Later, Soo-cheol steps out for a bit, and Da-hye gulps down the alcohol and arrogantly calls him chatty. Outside, Soo-cheol meets Hyun-soo. Hyun-soo tries to make conversation and make Soo-cheol stay with him throughout the night.
Soo-cheol realizes Hyun-soo is afraid to sleep with Hae-in and teasingly asks Hyun-soo the same. Hyun-soo awkwardly laughs it off and gets inside his room. He tries to be as quiet as possible, but Hae-in wakes up and asks him to shower. She is looking at his pictures and falling back in love with him again. Hyun-soo gets out of the shower, and Hae-in thinks he is handsome, and she feels she is losing her mind. That night, Hae-in asks Hyun-soo if he wants to cuddle, but he is terrified, so she lets it be.
She reminds him about the time when they were dating, and she had visited his hometown. They had managed to sleep on a single bed. The next morning, the dog owners ask Eun-Seong to take back the money. Eun-Seong eventually agrees, but he wants to kill the dog, but Hyun-soo stops him. Eun-Seong asks him if stray and abandoned dogs should be killed and if the loyal ones must be safe.
Man Dae sees the CCTV footage and realizes it was Beom Jun’s brother who was sneaking in from the fence. Hae-in visits her doctor and tells him she has become empathetic, and it is abnormal as she has always been cold-hearted. The doctor tells her that when someone knows they are about to die, they tend to change themselves. The dog owners remember a child many years ago who had made the same statement as Eun-seong and they feel Eun-seong looks like that child.
Hyun-soo and Beom Jun visit Beom Jun’s brother, and he tells them that he has visited the place as he knows that it is family hunting day, and he wants to talk to Man Dae once. He also visited the house several times, but Seul Hee had sent him away. When Seul Hee was asked, she denied any such things and warned them to stay away from him.
Eun-seong calls Hae-in saying he has fixed a meeting with Mr. Herman and to meet him for dinner. Hyun-soo’s siblings visit Hae-in and are about to talk to her about not getting a divorce but she is called for the appointment. However his sister ends up sending a text message to her. Hae-in reaches the meeting and realizes Herman isn’t coming. Eun-seong asks about Hyun-soo, and she stands up for him, but Eun-seong asks her why she isn’t confident about what she is saying.
Hyun-soo’s colleague tells Hyun-soo about his sibling’s visit. He calls them, and they are scared as they get to know Hyun-soo never brought up the divorce with her. Eun-Seong switches off Hae-in’s phone when she is away and looks at the alcohol glass in front of him suspiciously. Hae-in drinks the alcohol while Hyun-soo is afraid and is waiting for her. Eun-Seong acts like he knows Hae-in better, and Hyun-soo is infuriated. Hyun-soo asks for Hae-in’s phone, and as soon as she finds it, he is thrilled. Hae-in is still drunk, and she kisses him.
Queen of Tears Episode 4 Recap:
The episode begins where it was left off. Hae-in and Hyun-soo are kissing. They get back to their room awkwardly. Hyun-soo is scared that Hae-in will see his sister’s text. Hae-in goes to shower, and Hyun-soo, after many attempts, unlocks her phone and deletes his sister’s message. When she walks in, Hyun-soo makes an excuse and tells her to rest as she is tired. Hae-in thinks he cares about her deeply. Hae-in’s phone’s password is significant, and Hyun-soo cannot believe she has that number as her passcode.
In a flashback, we see Hae-in was pregnant in the past. Hyun-soo had decorated the baby’s room, which is where he is living now. The password to Hae-in’s phone is supposed to be the due date of the child’s birth. In another flashback, we see Hae-in’s mother and Hyun-soo’s mother don’t get along despite Hyun-soo’s mother trying her best to connect with Hae-in’s mother.
The next morning, Hyun-soo sees Eun-seong and Hae-in at their house. Hyun-soo tried to join in, but it was clear that they didn’t want him around. Eun-seong provokes Hyun-soo by saying Hae-in always goes to him for help and she thinks he is the only reliable person. Soo-cheol also insults Hyun-soo by kicking him out of the room saying he feels closer to Eun-seong compared to Hyun-soo. Hyun-soo’s jealousy is evident when he confronts Hae-in, asking her to be fair and yell at any guy who touches her hair, not just at him.
Hyun-soo, throughout the day, is in a good mood as Hae-in compliments him. She starts to stare at her with a smiling face. Hyun-soo meets Yang Gi, who is still fixated on getting Hae-in’s will changed. But he also realizes that Hyun-soo is falling back in love with Hae-in, and he is jealous of Eun-Seong. Hyun-soo denies any such claims. Moreover, Hyun-soo gives an excuse to Yang Gi for buying Hae-in shoes. He tells Yang Gi that he needs to keep her in good books and tells Hae-in that he is concerned that she will fall if she wears high heels.
Eun-seong helps Hae-in with the meeting with Herman by telling her about Herman’s mistress. She says she owes him one, and he tells her that he will hold her to that. Hae-in texts Hyun-woo to get home soon as she has some good news. He brings her peanut cakes, and he sees her surprise that there is over 50% chance of her getting better. Hyun-soo imagines his future as a puppet to the Hong family and is worried.
Beom Ja pesters Man Dae to have a delicious meal with her. Soo-cheol is looking for investment from Eun-seong, and he does not commit anything to Soo-Cheol. Grace says nice things about Eun-seong to Seon Hwa, and she is impressed. However, she turns her against her daughter, and Seon Hwa is furious. Grace, Eun-seong, and one of the lawyers have teamed up to take down Queen’s and Hong Empire.
Seon Hwa visits Hae-in, who is feeling dizzy because of her illness. She calls Hae-in selfish and wants to take away everything, even from her siblings. Hae-in is about to fall, and Hyun-soo catches her and politely asks Seon Hwa to leave. Hyun-soo asks Hae-in to tell her family, but she doesn’t want to so as not to give them a shock, considering they already had lost a child before. She asks him not to treat her like a patient.
Man Dae is losing his eyesight and screams at his board members. They are all working against him and the Queen. He meets Beom Ja, but she has a surprise for Man Dae. She has brought her brother in, and Man Dae is furious. He cannot forgive his son as he has betrayed him. He asks him not to attend his funeral as well. Baek Du-gwan (Hyun-soo’s father) is facing a problem in his village.
His competitor during the elections is ruining his chances of winning. Du-gwan is about to make a pledge and win hearts, but the entire village starts taunting him as his daughter-in-law has never come to the village, and nor is she selling his pears in her supermarket. Just then, trucks from the Queen’s arrive, and so does Hae-in. It turns out Baek Mi-seon (Hyun-soo’s sister) had messaged Hae-in to help them out, and she came with meals and other goodies for all the villagers.
Queen of Tears Episode 4 Ending Explained:
How does Hae-in help Baek Du-gwan?
Hae-in spends time at Hyun-soo’s house and she looks through his photographs. Jeon Bong Ae (Hyun Woo’s mother) calls Hyun-soo to ask about Hae-in, but she is surprised as he does not know where she is. He arrives at his village, but nobody has seen Hae-in. Hae-in walks around listening to Hyun-soo’s music player, and she has an episode.
Hyun-soo looks for her everywhere and finds her at night on a lonely road. At first, Hae-in pushes him away for yelling and worrying about her, but later, she shows her vulnerable side. She tells him she couldn’t remember what had happened after she stepped out of his house. She breaks down, and Hyun-soo hugs her. In the epilogue, as students Hyun-soo and Hae-in had crossed paths briefly, Hae-in had dropped her music player, and that is the same music player Hyun-soo had kept in his house.
From the last two episodes, we realize something more sinister is going on. Eun-seong is an evil addition to the story, but we don’t know much about why he has turned out to be this way and what is his vengeance towards the Hong family. Grace is an insider who is playing the divide-and-rule game. Eun-seong’s role definitely helps Hyun-soo realize his feelings for Hae-in. This bond needs to get stronger to fight enemies within the house and outside. Seul Hee and Da-hye seem suspicious and probably want to see the Hong family destroyed.
